I don't think Chelsea had as many scoring chances as Liverpool.

RIDICULOUSLY UNJUST RESULT!!!

If Cech wasn't there Chelsea would've conceded AT LEAST three goals. stupid Riise.

dont be so biast, liverpool have been the better team but no by that much. liverpool had some good chances but so did chelsea on the counter they just couldnt finish their plays.
Habitant
QUOTE (zdrossoneri @ Apr 22 2008, 08:49 PM)
Well, you haven't qualified yet. Liverpool can get a 2-2 draw or even win if they play like they did tonight.
*

2-2 draws just dont happen between chelsea liverpool.

the only chance they have is to win 1-0 or 1-1 SO.

And Chelsea might not be so lucky in the second leg innocent.gif

Just checked - Liverpool haven't scored at the Bridge in the last 8 matches

Benitez: "When I sit down by my own and think .. I always think about one question; how did we win in Istanbul?"

Rafa Benitez, Liverpool coach, spoke about the Istanbul final, which Milan lost in a very weird way.

The Liverpool coach said: "I watched the Istanbul final over twenty times, and up till today I get shocked and ask myself, 'How did we succeed in winning that game?' I look at the pictures of that team and then I look at the pictures of my team now, and they are two completely different teams."

Because you f@cking stole it ! You and your scouser friends motherf2cker !

1-0 Chelsea in a very boring affair.

Only way Liverpool would win is on penalties, but hey nothing new to them.

Chelsea-Barca again !
kurtsimonw
Liverpool beat us because we threw it away. We thought we'd won it, but a European Cup Final isn't won until the final whistle, hopefully we've learned our lesson!
Dano
Fair result.

In 2005 Liverpool got a goal allowed that wasn't... This partly compensates for that... Go on Chelsea... **** those dirty scousers

I don't think you want to go there mad.gif

p.s. dont even comment ! That trophy is Milan's !

How was it? A football game lasts 90 minutes, 120 sometimes. We were better for the first 45, but they were better for the next 45. They deserved it as much as we did, no question.

But we got them back in Athens anyways, they were the better team and we 'stole' it from them.

I don't need to, I've seen it enough times.

There's no way they could have just turned up for 6 minutes and won the European Cup. Milan would beat any team if they were the better team for 114 minutes, so you're basically insulting the team.
Habitant
i would say our first 45 was much better than liverpool's 45 minutes (in the 2nd) and dudek made that one amazing save off sheva. overall we were by far the better team but they clearly thought they had the game won at 3-0 + the apparent celebrations in the locker room at half time so we were sorta asking for it....

aint it over till it's over...

Today Grant had the luck Mourinho didn't have on the last semis.

You're gonna see him in Appiano Gentile soon.

Grant is an idiot. He took off cole at the right time but waited too long for his second sub. It was clear drogba wasn't doing anything. He should have either came off or sub malouda aswell as ballack and put on sheva and anelka. He should have pressed for a goal as liverpool were clearly looking like they were falling apart slowly. Porty is right if mourinho had this luck he would have been in teh final. An own goal, can you believe it.

Drogba to me looks like he doesnt care what happens to chelsea now. He didnt even put in an effort this game.

QUOTE (mishale @ Apr 22 2008, 02:50 PM)
Essien was suspended, Lampard didn't train this week at all (his mother is sick) and had one of his worst games ever, Drogba barely past the fitness test before the game (problems with his knee) and it showed that he wasn't completely fit. Balack was in doubt too. So the important thing was the result even if they didn't deserved it.

Liverpool won't win at SB.
*

dont be so confident. Arsenal kicked our @ss at home. Anything is possible especially with rafa at the helm.
kurtsimonw
Chelsea's record at home + Liverpool's record at Stmford Bridge = Chelsea in the final.

But as we know, football never goes according to plan!

So I finally saw the replay.

(With apologies to any lurking Scousers) laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif I didn't realise until I saw it that Riise's own goal was at the Kop end of the pitch. That's just too funny.

dst will be a very pleased woman when she sees the result! 96.gif

Oh yeah!!! Giggity giggity!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I LOVE NORWAY!! I LOVE RIISE!! laugh.gif

Seems like Liverpool deserved to win (judging from the ext. highlights) but this team has had luck on their side on numerous occasions so they just can't say a thing.

Even the goal they scored... damn man... Mascherano was trying to shoot for ****s sake... laugh.gif And before that... from a Gerrard through ball that Babel failed to control, Torres almost had a chance! At some point, and you can write this down, Liverpool are even going to (if they have not already) score with a fart! They are just so lucky...

I think Carragher's tackle on Drogba was a foul.

laugh.gif Joe Cole's and Makelele's aerial kicks! Ridiculous... they're paid to kick it! rolleyes.gif

Torres should have scored. He was bad.

Anyway... if I made a bet I'd still put my money on Liverpool. In my opinion they can't be compared with Chelsea man-for-man in terms of quality but Benitez has created a great team (and the Scousers can shut up!) (but please Rafa why do we have to see Kuyt play as a second RB when Liverpool defend? It's annoying!) and all of them are hard-workers and play with their heart! They are also going to have luck on their side (it happened once it won't happen again) and probably even the ref... innocent.gif

PS Great diving header! tongue.gif

From now on, Carew will be the Norwegian player I tell people about when they ask if there is a famous player from Norway...
Tennie
(But Norway has some very good skiiers!)

Here's my favourite so far in the BBC text commentary lead-up to today's Barca-Manchester game:

(viewers/readers were asked to translate typical MU fan chants into Catalan)

1432: ""Vamos a anotar uno más que usted!" - "We're gonna score one more than you!"

"Cantar una canción para usted?" - "Shall we sing a song for you?"

And my personal favourite... "Adonde el oh donde mi emparedado de la gamba ha ido?" - "Where oh where has my prawn sandwich gone?""

One of the Brits can probably explain it better than I, but MU home fans are known as the 'prawn sandwich brigade' for their less than deafening support at Old Trafford. I think it was Roy Keane who first made the comment.

Well I'm not a Norwegian so the only thing I remember Carew for is kicking Arsenal out in two consecutive seasons which is not exactly an unforgettable incident...

My prediction is a 2-2 draw! Ronaldo scoring both for United, and Messi and Iniesta for Barcelona.

I don't want to say something that I'm gonna regret at the end of the match, but though I think he's a complete player, I think he chokes in BIG games. and the truth is he's yet to prove himself in a real BIG match.
Zed.D
Messi doing real good
Zed.D
Marquez... what a fvcking FK...

Shame... Ronaldinho would have easily scored from that position.
Ry4n
does anyone have audio for the Barca match , bbc Five live doesnt seem to work anymore sad.gif
Tennie
Trying to peek in every few while I finish compiling a report, whee fun.

Am I reading the stats correctly? Does Barca really have 80% of possession?!?!?!
fresh_prince7
Probably. Owned the first half, just can't finish it off and put it in the back of the net. Dinho would have been really handy with some of the chances they've had from set pieces.

Messi owning ronaldo. He's not even fully match fit.

Kaka >>>> Ronaldo in last yrs semi.. could be a repeat.

A penalty and 4 FK and hasn't hit the target.
Dano
Barca definately look in complete control of the game... Messi is looking brilliant, Ronaldo has had 1 or 2 "wow" moments, but other than them nothing special.

Second half should be interesting biggrin.gif It's a nice game to watch...
dst
Barcelona have kept United on their half for the hugest part of the 1st half yet they are verbose and have created any real dangers for van der Saar. They could have scored in the first 15 minutes when they entered the box in quite a few occasions but they were sloppy and did not even make a shot in those occasions.

United have had the biggest chance so far and Cristiano should have scored from the penalty spot. That other push that he protested about was not a penalty in my view but not a dive either.

Why is Rooney playing on the line? I don't think it works.

Messi is not at 100% yet and he made a wrong pass when it could have counted. Deco also.

Best player of the first half is Yaya Toure I think.

He certainly has not choked today. He missed the penalty but he earned it himself and I think he's the most dangerous player on the pitch. People should not expect that he's going to do what he does against the lines of Derby... I think he knows it too, he seems to be more thoughtful than he was a year ago against Milan.

On the other hand what he does against mid and low table teams does not mean he's the best in the world. The best is he who makes the differences in big games not against weak sides... so I don't see why Cristiano deserves it and Torres or Toni don't.

So far no one has made a difference in these big games and there still are a lot of these to be played...
