Thanks to an absolutely splendid refereee for giving the Scouser scum that penalty.
Toure was TOUCHING Babel, that surely qualifies for a penalty doesn't it?
Anyway, the CL can go screw itself now for all I care. Unless Schalcke or Roma win tomorrow, wich I'm a bit unconvinced of, no other team is even remotely my favourites now.

Well done again Scousers! They go through with an imaginary penalty (I'm not even counting the one that was not given on Hleb in the 1st leg)... well done Scourers, well done Pride of Liverpool! smile.gif

I'm just wondering... was it necessary for these two games to be played if UEFA wanted to get Liverpool through so badly?

Thanks dst...I'm very tempted to join in your hate for Liverpool right now.

What are you talking about rolleyes.gif it was a CLEAR penalty to me. anyone knows when you're running at that speed you come done with the slightest of touches. and I believe it was more than a slight touch.

Funny how after all these three games you Arsenal fans came complaining about the referee...
Locke Lamora
Strange isn't it?
In the first game Kuyt drags down Hleb 2 metres from the ref, no penalty.
Second game, Liverpool just get's plain favorised.
Third game, the ref finally gives a penalty, after Toure breathed on Babel who went tumbling.

you see that sorta foul is only called when it's outside the box, thats just the way it is. or else there would be a dozen penalties per match.

it's not the defenders problem to not make any contact what so ever cuz there always be some without actually giving a penalty away. if it's that easy all you have to do is accelerate witht he ball and the defender isnt allowed to touch you rolleyes.gif

I hate nobody. Hate is too strong a word. I just can't stand them because they are irritatingly lucky and because of their fans who are lousy, whiners, fanciful and only sing when their team is winning. In that you can join me and I'd welcome you! biggrin.gif

Just enjoy the win pal. The decision for the penalty was a complete joke there's no doubt about that... IF there was a foul, it was conceded outside the box but Babel kept on going and DIVED 2 meters farther away... it was either a foul on the edge of the box or a yellow card to the Dutch joke for simulation.

Anyway... I just hope United beat the crap out of them in the Final.

So, CR is the best player in the world by miles? Certainly not! Torres got away only once (against Senderos but still...) and he nailed it! He has scored 29 (?) goals in his FIRST season and he's playing in a team with much less quality than United and one that also plays negative, destructive football unlike the team from Manchester. In my opinion El Nino has done just as great as the Portuguese star.
Darunia
Liverpool dominated most of the match after the Hyypia goal (great header btw) and it was a deserved (albeit) cruel victory. Walcott's run was amazing, funny 4 arsenal players on 1 liverpool defender
weeeow
you know Locke, I'm actually gutted for Arsenal!

I was cheering them on and actually celebrated when Adebayor scored. smile.gif
I hate the scousers sooooooooooo much mad.gif

O well.
Refereeing these days. blink.gif mad.gif

Its a debatable penalty. I think the touch existed and you know when e players is running such fast doesn't need that much to go down...

Still considering the penalty on Hleb in the first leg, it would be fair not to award it.

I was supporting Arsenal in this match, even though I'm not that dissapointed coz from these 2 teams only L'pool are able to beat Chelsea.... I doubt Arsenal would have enough strength to beat them.

Now we'll see 2 very interesting semi-finals.
Both semi's have teams with the same style facing each other.

Lpool - Chelsea = both playing strong, tactical, and defensive football

Man Utd - Barca = both want to have as much possesion as possible and both are very good technicaly...

I'd like whoever wins in Man U - Barca...goes and wins it in Moscow.

Indeed. I think in the Final we're going to see Manchester and Liverpool. Chelsea just can't do it against the Scousers in Europe and Barcelona's defense will have huge problems against CR and co.

But nothing is certain. Except that I'm not going to waste my time to watch the football vilification that's called Liverpool vs Chelsea again. I'm certainly looking forward to Messi vs CR though.

My hope is a Chelsea vs Barcelona final with the Blues winning it.

Barca and Man U are 99.999999999% qualified.

If Rio and Vidic aren't fit, I expect Barca to progress (and win it all). This reminds me of last season when ManUtd had similar injury issues... and we all know who won it all tongue.gif

Amen to that.

Third time lucky for Chelsea? Scouser's luck won't last forever.

don't care who wins it as long as it's not liverpool... and that's only because they'll be just one trophy behind us if they win!

Their well of luck seems unending and this time they might also have the refs on their side as with Arsenal... but maybe Chelsea can prove that they are the better team for once!

He has zero physical presence! One (slight) push and he loses the ball. He needs to strengthen up considerably.
LaPalma
Congrats to Chelsea. Now they get their chance (once again) against Liverfool. This time they'll win IMO. Ballack and Lampard are really on form and their chemistry looks better than anyone could have expected. I think I don' exxagerate when I say they're the best midfield duo atm.
morgoth
It was a debatable penalty, some referees give others don't, I mean even with the video people still disagree so ...

I wanted Arsenal to win it, but now I hope a non-english team wins it tongue.gif

In order : Barça, Chelsea, Man U

I just hope Messi is going to play the semi's!
Nova
Since Mourinho left Chelsea I started to like them. They even started playing better since he left. wink.gif I wouldn't even mind them winning it now. But I prefer Roma biggrin.gif hah !
fresh_prince7
The penalty was against fabregas right? That contact was outside the box.

If it was against toure, thats terrible cause I don't even think he touched babel, he was just switching to the inside of him.

Reminded me of gerrard's bellyflop in istanbul.

Terrible way to finish a very entertaining game.

Great finish from gerrard though, took the penalty so well, class!

Great run from walcott, kaka' like with the way he shrugged off that one defender with strength.

I doubt it, since Vidic plays for Man U!

About the penalty, it was a penalty 100% in my opinion. Arsenal can only feel annoyed that they didn't get the one they should have been given in the first leg. But they've had their share of luck this season anyways and these things happen in football.

I hope Liverpool win it, if not, then Man U, then Chelsea.
Portman
The final will be Liverpool-Barcelona. You can write it down if you want.

About yesterday, of course it was penalty on Babel. A clear penalty. Where are the doubts? He was pushed out and inside the box.

Torres will be a f legend in Liverpool. Probably the most in-form foward in Europe. He was massive.
dst
@Porty: Barcelona in the final? There's no way their defence can stop United's attack. Unless it's decided by the ref or something, Barcelona will be kicked out of the competition.

And I also think Schalke have a lil' gift for Barcelona tonight...
kurtsimonw
No Rooney or Ronaldo in Uniteds starting line-up.

I think United is the best team in Europe this season and I'd love to see them beat the crap out of the Scousers in the final but I despise arrogance and for that I'd like to see Roma punish SAF.
Tennie
It would seem that MU are rather confident. Be interesting to see if it's justified.
kurtsimonw
When the draw was made I said I'd be shocked if Roma finished within 2 goals over the 2 legs. I stick by this, even without R+R playing the 2nd leg.

@dst: Form is temporary, class is permanent as some say. And Barcelona, if they play what they know, they can do it. Plus Messi will be back. We'll see. But somehow I think Barcelona will knock the arrogant English from Salford out.

And I hate both teams.

Maybe a heroic Maradona-ish display from Messi see Barca through? a lot depends on which team will play at home in the second leg.
Zed.D
My o my... Schalke's keeper is great!
kurtsimonw
All United so far. The cr@ppyness of Tevez + some good saves from Doni keeps it at 0-0 though.
Zed.D
Schalke are doing great. if they keep it up they can qualify!
Tennie
Neuer is finally hitting form, it seems. When on form, he's brilliant. Unfortunately for Schalke, he's not really been on form this year.
kurtsimonw
Roma penalty, dive by Mancini. De Rossi smashes it over. Their big chance to get in the game and they blow it. rolleyes.gif

Roma need to pick themselves up and score some late goals

De Rossi probably wants to commit suicide, but he can redeem himself

Very good ball from Hargreaves for Tevez, easy header for him 1-0. SHould be over now. Hargreaves has surprisingly been brilliant tonight, but Roma can feel a little hard done by with the result, they've been very good from the 30 minute mark onwards.
