Kaka Doubtful For Shakhtar Clash

Kaka could potentially miss Wednesday's Champions League meeting between AC Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk at the San Siro due to a knee injury...

Kaka sat out AC Milan's humiliating 1-0 home defeat to Empoli at the weekend in preparation for the impending Champions League encounter with Shakhtar Donetsk, but could potentially miss that tie, too.

The Brazilian maestro is a slight doubt for the Matchday 3 tie due to a knee injury - one that was earlier played down by Milanese vice-president Adriano Galliani.

First team coach Carlo Ancelotti, though, refused to guarantee Kaka's presence against the Ukrainians.

"We have one more day to see if he can recover or not," said the manager.

Reigning champions Milan have taken three points from six so far, beating Benfica in the first match before losing out 2-1 to Celtic in Scotland in the second.

Kaka, aged 25, has an all-time Champions League record of 23 goals in 54 games. The former Sao Paolo attacker also set up the winning goal in last season's final, AC Milan defeating Liverpool 2-1 in Greece.

Wow. it's quite impressing 23 goals in 54 games for an AM; and he's just 25.

I'd like to know R10's record in the CL...

Yesterday (Wednesday Nov. 7th 07) was the last day to vote for the Ballon D'Or .. Sky Italia had voiced that the majority of the votes were for the Brazilian and that the Milan management are fully aware of it.

Upon the team's arrival yesterday at Milan Malpensa, after Kaka' was interviewed with a journalist, he was caught laughing with Carlo and a couple of journalists caught some o fthe conversation; where Carlo told Ricky "..you know when Sheva won the Ballon D'Or, he bought me this gold watch .. so i am expecting something much more from u, maybe a heavy check.." and Kaka' replied "how about dinner at Parma .." referring to his appetite ...

Bottom line is, I like how Carlo is close to his players, something which is rarely found tehse days in teh world of football.

To me, a coach is a coach just like a father is a father. Some parents like to be "friends" with their children but I think this is not right. I mean, you can be as close as you want to your kids but not the way their friends are close to them... and it's the same with a coach and his players. It seems to me Carletto is more a friend than he should be...

That is ur respected insight on this issue .. there r other ways to look at it. For me, my dad is 65 and we are real good friends, in fact the best of friends .. so from my perspective it is different. Furthermore, my boss is also a good friend of mine, we travel together and socialize in almost the same circle of friends, etc etc ...

A coach is a coach, yes ur right ... I don't go over the edge with my dad .. and neither do i do that to my boss (at least during work tongue.gif ) ... But overall, it makes for a much more relaxed environment to interact with these people whom are real close to u. Therefore, Carlo is the coach and the players are his players, but the special relationship that he has with them, shouldn't go unnoticed, and I think he has built a great relationship with them.
dst
All I'm saying is that the roles should be clearly distinguished. You are a friend to your friend and he is one to you too, the role is the same while this is a more complicated relationship...
Rossoneri7
yup I get what ur saying ... And i understand where ur coming from, but these roles can be interpreted differently (as i explained above) .. So on the training ground and during a game, there should be the distinction between a coach and what he demands from his players without being biased to the relationship that he has with them ... But off the field, it helps better the understanding between player and coach.

Anyways, that was my point .. doesn't have to be right and doesnt have to be wrong ..

p.s. kaka' won the Ballon D'Or devil.gif
dst
The Ballon d'Or is a big curse of an award... I hope Kaka is not affected! sad.gif
Rossoneri7
Yeah .. i just hope Kaka' keeps doing what he does best without being too overwhelmed .. As he is usually a decent young lad, who doesn't have the 'CR' attitude, which gives me comfort from this aspect at least.

I think CR is harshly misunderstood on this matter. He does tend to show off a lot that's true but that doesn't mean he's not trying to become better. I think he has great ambitions, what he lacks is humility...
Rossoneri7
I guess I just like more direct players .. Rui Costa or Figo (as Portuguese) these type of players that don't do all those step overs and are more of team players than what CR usually does.

Don't get me wrong he is a player that has received recognition from across the world, especially the EPL awards that he had received, he truly deserved. But it is a matter of personal taste, I mean Ronaldinho is much more direct in his play than CR .. though they both tend to do those step overs, Ronaldinho moves the ball more often than CR .. In the end it is a matter of personal taste. And dare I say experience

Kaka To Sign New Contract After All

Milan superstar Kaka is set to sign a new contract with the club worth £6.4m a year, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Brazilian has been the number one transfer target of Real Madrid for at least a couple of years now, with Spanish rivals Barcelona and Premiership giants Chelsea also confirmed admirers.

However it now seems that their interest will finally be put to bed with the news that Kaka is to pen a new deal until 2012 worth a whopping £6.4m a year.

This is a raise of £2.4m on his current contract and will run until the Selecao star is 30-years-old.

Kaka’s contract extension will be officially revealed to the world once he is crowned as the winner of the prestigious Ballon d’Or on December 2.

The 25-year-old is the odds-on favourite for the prize, with many Italian newspapers reporting earlier this week that Milan have already begun Kaka’s travel arrangements to and from the ceremony.

KAKÁ'S DREAMS
11/18/2007
RIO DE JANEIRO - Kaká has two dreams: not just the Golden Ball, but also to meet Michael Jordan and be the captain of Brazil in 2014. The Milan player revealed that to Rete Globo. In the Golden Ball votings he would choose Cristiano Ronaldo. He believes that being the captain of the Brazil side during the World Cup played at home would be "a wonderful experience." Just as it would be to meet Michael Jordan, "The best basketball player of all time," as he called him.

No, because Beckham's salary depends on how manay shirts he sold etc... It's not like a stable salary every month.

Yeah, and unfortunately MJ is just that arrogant too, for all that he was an amazing talent. His attitude is (to put it in footballing terms) about 100000000000 times worse than Mourinho at HIS worst. (MJ is the reason why I no longer watch NBA basketball.)

Can you explain where have you seen such arrogance? Sure there is some arrogance when you are undoubtedly the best, but I don't see something wrong with that. His attitude was a strong competitiveness that drove him to be one of the best athletes ever. He's one of the main reasons why the game is so popular today and millions fell in love in basketballl watching him.

Kaká: I Am Not Leaving And I Am Not Ungrateful

Kaká has admitted that he has been shocked by the reaction after he said that violence in Italian football could see players leave and reiterated that he is not going anywhere.

The Brazilian stated that he felt that some stars could move abroad and others would be put off playing in Serie A if trouble continued.

That outburst led to speculation that he was considering his own future in Italy amid continuing rumours that Real Madrid and Barça are interested in him.

"I have never said that I want to leave Italy," he explained. I simply said that the spiral of violence could see some important players leaving.

"After calciopoli some players did leave Italy. I, on the other hand, have a long contract with Milan, which runs until 2011, and I am not the least bit ungrateful."

Some critics have also labelled Kaká as ungrateful for attacking Italian football after he has made his name and a generous living and that has hurt him.

"I am surprised," he continued. They have labelled me as ungrateful, but I could not be more grateful to Italian football and Milan.

"If I win the Ballon d'Or then I will use it to thank both Italy and AC Milan.

"I only wanted to send a warning as I was trying to help the football in which I play.

"I was not being critical. It is just that with all the violence, there is a risk that it could affect the decision of players who are considering whether to come to play in Italy."

What made me...embarrassed of my country, I guess...were the interviews Jordan gave to the foreign press during the Barcelona Olympics. He was condecending, rude, arrogant, and just plain mean to a lot of the European press in interviews. I was travelling in Europe at the time and saw the same attitude repeated in every single news conference with him that I saw. It was horrible.

I know, I couldn't believe my eyes, he even had a second chance just 5 mins after the goal, the Gkeeper did brilliantly to knock it over, but MY GOD !!!

p.s. I think we have more than a gem of a player in Kaka' .. I mean, he is a HUGE shirt seller, I have no doubt that he'd surpass Becks in that aspect wink.gif

Yeah the keeper's save was mind-blowing cause Kaka's (left-foot) shot looks inch-perfect!

Of course he won't sell as many jerseys as Beckham. He won't even come close... but who cares? I don't give a damn if he can sell any jerseys...

He has the potential .. He surpass him, cuz football today is reaching an even BIGGER audience. Maybe he ain't a Celeb freak like Becks, but he has something more ... He plays for the GREATEST club on Earth wink.gif And is the best thing to happen to football ever since Zidane biggrin.gif

He has a line with Armani, #22 ... He apparently has fan girls over here, I have seen tens of girls wearing a Milan shirt, only to find Kaka' imprinted on the back ... maybe this doesn't say much .. but, he definitely has the potential to gain a greater fan base than Becks ...

...you know, kaka isn't the type of man that point himself out for publicity and commercials like becks does...that's why he won't be able to reach beckham's celebrity...but still, he's a bigger star for me, becouse of his great behavior, which is the same as it was when he came to milan...fame didn't change him(from what i can see)...i don't know, he just has no cons smile.gif you got to think of that, players like pirlo, gattuso,nesta,..are all on a side track when shirts are sold, everyone want's to have kaka, so from that point he is a big shirt seller smile.gif

I hope he never ever gets close to what Beckham 'achieved' in selling shirts and other stuff! rolleyes.gif Kaka just needs to be solely focused on his football because he has the potential to become one of the all-time greats; like Zidane, Baggio, Maradona, Cryuff, etc.

Real Madrid have more fans than Milan around the world... that means more jerseys sold! wink.gif Unless he's going to move there...

Kaka will never be as sell-y as Beckham is simply because he's a true footballer. Beckham is a good player but his true talent is the ability to sell his name any place and any time...
