1-1, Giggs. Ronaldo hit a great shot, Boruc saw it late and parried, Giggs with an easy header. Shame, Donati and Caldwell had been superb.

Right then, Team Nandrolone (a performance-enhancing drug) finally won the match.

I can live with the win, had it been more entertaining. Casilas didn't have anything to do all match, in fact both keepers could have taken a vacation if they wanted. I'm more pissed off with Madrid's performance, I guess. All in all, they were two hours of my life I'm never getting back: somewhat good defending display, but awful attack. I'd take a Milan friendly against this any given Sunday.
Hopefully both these teams are out of the CL in no time.

From the Italian batch I want Fiorentina to win it. If not, then Roma. Tough ask I know, but as long as the druggists (Juve) or dirtists (inter) don't go to the final, I'll be fine. And no English club either - unless they're Arsenal. Or Chelsea.

Er. Did ANY EPL team actually win this gameday?
Fishdoll would prefer to see the Viola win it too but with their draw today, they're pretty much out. Given that he's wearing a Chiellini jersey for the duration of and in protest to that english guy's short-term stay at Milan this winter, I have a feeling I may have to put up with supporting Juve.

All either drew or lost.

Ah, I'd have to be very hard pressed to root for Juve.

Buffon, Chiellini, Mellberg and Piero included, unfortunately. Right up there with inter and Napoli for me in Serie A. Anyways, it's not like we have much choice this season, on the first hand. I'd still pick Roma though, if not Viola. Or Bayern. Or Lyon. Or Valencia. Heck, even Arsenal or Chelsea. Juventus still give me the shivers for our Scudetto loses in these last few years. Particularly the last one that went to inter.

That round-a55 referee wasn't too kind to Madrid, either, zd.

There were more than one instances of penalty kicks that could have been awarded to the Spaniards. But I guess, the Real team as a whole deserved this one.

Hah. See, we've got a philosophical difference here, acid. I'd never cheer for the zebras in Serie A. But in Europe? Long as they're not playing Milan, sure. Sins of the Moggi era notwithstanding, Juve ARE a team with an Italian core and I appreciate that. Plus, well, the longer they're paying attention to and involved in the CL, the more they need to split attention between that and Serie A. For me, Real (sorry, zd!) is part of the axis of footballing evil, along with Chelsea (sorry Misha) and the cugini.

So...I was peeking in at another Milan forum. On this forum there are 3 England-based fans who primarily support Villa, Liverpool, and Manchester United. The United and Villa guys are generally pretty reasonable. Well, starting yesterday after the Liverpool game, the general consensus on this other board was that Gerrard dived to get the penalty and that he is a (to use a vaguely naughty British term) wanker.
The liverpool fan took exception to this and proceeded to insult everyone and everything that disagreed. It was really quite amusing to watch the Villa and MU fans gang up on him.

I think the reason he gets away with it so much is that The Blind Boys of Alabama are brought in to ref Liverpool games. There can be no other explanation.

but we deserve this because our management cared about Club World Cup more than a CL spot...
Hope Zenit wins its next two games so we can fight with Real Madrid in UEFA cup

[conspiracy theory mode] Okay, I'm rewatching the Real-Juve game and I've noticed something rather interesting. The last defender Del Piero had to get past on his first goal was Cannavaro and it was Cannavaro fouling Sissoko that led to the free kick (TERRIBLE positioning of the wall by Casillas on that one) for the second goal. I'm almost half tempted to wonder if there was some sort of unconscious error(s) by Cannavaro against his former team. [\conspiracy theory mode]

I think of it more as an unfortunate coincidence.
Cannavaro really should leave Real, he hardly ever plays like himself for them. In fact he shouldn't have gone there in the 1st place (dumb choice of club football imo).

I'd say 6.

He's at exactly 120 caps.
Anyway, yeah, I used to think like this, but one day I thought what if Paolo was happy someone was taking over his record? I honestly can't imagine a guy like him being unhappy over this.

And to be brutally honest, Cannavaro is no where near Paolo's stature, anyway. He's the best after Nesta, and in Italy's top echelon of defenders, yeah, but can't touch Maldini's legacy.
