Nah, I don't think they'll last that long. They always had a great team ALWAYS. Never once where they lacking in depth or quality/quantity. But, it is just that their team had found the way to winning matches. That is the ONLY difference from past years.
IMO .. this is their last season .. I don't think the likes of Milan or Juventus will let this go on any further.

In Milan's case ... This is a special season, we won two trophies up till now the SC and CWC ... Inshallah the CL is next in line. Then Maldini will hang up his boots and it is a new cycle, so .. 4 yrs ?! nah cool.gif

Depens on our management. In the middle of last season we also thought that this season it will be different. But we won the CL and our board went to sleep during the transfer window and as result ,from this Oktober we alredy know that Inter gonna be champions (what makes Serie A very interesting to watch rolleyes.gif ).
SC and CWC have nothing to do with it. They are minor trophies that takes 3 games to win (both). No team in the world planning their season around them. They are taken to consideration, but nothing more.

Our management didn't make changes after Athena, because well, it was a special season. Maldini will hang up his boots, it's the end of a very successful cycle, and the club have already targeted which tournaments it wants.

Now whether we both go to Milan and take Milanello hostage till we see some results in Serie A, wont change the fact that it isn't Milan's priority. Why ? Because it wasn't ever since the season started.

Maybe with Ronaldo, Serie A would be a LOT different than what it is now. Still, that doesn't mean Milan wanted Serie A.

Saying the management fell asleep is a little far-fetched. The management is right now sipping champaign and enjoying something they have been planning for ever since 1986 !!! Milan #1.

They didn't fall asleep. You know what it is ... I think it is us "ungrateful" fans, who just complain and cast doubts .. I am not saying that is what u do, but look, life isn't just black and white ... nothing has to taste just sweet nor does it have to taste just bitter. You can have an in-between from time to time. What Silvio Berlusconi has done for this club, NO president in the history of this sport had done the same !! Falling asleep ?! Please, spare me ..

For me, the utopia of Athena is still in my head !! The after taste of that triumph, I still can taste it !! Milan to me is an open book, chapter after chapter, from success to success !! Maybe one or two seasons they are not doing well. BUT my God, if in those two seasons Milan is crowned the most successful club on the planet ... Then what an unsuccessful season wink.gif

The SC and the CWC doesn't mean anything to u ?? Ok, that's fine. But for the players that have won for you more than any player had won in recent times wink.gif I think they deserve these cups that "they" hold dearly to them. Seeing as, in order for them to play those '3 matches' they need to conquer Europe. (No team in the world are planning for them unsure.gif .. I was watching the CWC final with a very good friend of mine, Liverpool fan .. he said "I wish we had won it back then" rolleyes.gif ) ... The reason why it isn't as important, is because not many teams get a shot at it .. Like Milan!

I reiterate. AC Milan will be back in Serie A. If you lost faith, too bad, just don't sell your stocks just yet (if u have any wink.gif ).

No, saying they fell asleep is exacly suits this year. Nobody was talking about past years. Everyone make mistakes, and they did it this year. They did great things in the past but that doesn't mean thay can go wrong and they are perfect. There is no need ignoring waht's obvious. It's not black or white. Yeah it's ungreatful fans that have the nerve to say something againt the board that can't go wrong. Some rumours that our youth-product Enzo Maresca, now in Sevilla, will go to Inter.
SKY Italia said that's basically a done deal.

Very good add for then, if confirmed.

No actually Barca came out empty handed on that yr rolleyes.gif

Look. We simply aren't gonna agree here. Ever since Milan won the Super Cup, Milan's #1 priority was to go for the CWC (seeing as it was teh first trophy that will come in the team's way). Who cares about other clubs ?! This is a unique club, which at the moment stands as #1. Who cares, if Madrid after 5 or so shameful years, come back to winning again. Who cares if inter are starting to pull a Juve in Serie A and pull away ....

We don't have to agree .. And I am not talking about fans and what not ... I was talking in general, all of us, even me. We really are 'ungrateful'.

Yeah, the board can make mistakes and as critics we have to jump at them when they make such a predictable fault of having just Ronaldo at 30 as our SS till January rolleyes.gif I mean, that is exactly like when we got Cafu as our ONLY rb !!! No one believed he would be able to produce what he did at Roma, but guess again, he was instrumental for us. Sure he could have gotten injured, and back then we could have sat down and criticized wink.gif Same situation, just different outcome.

And Maldini ?! What more can that poor guy do ?? I mean, he is the most winning player in the history of this sport !!! Another Scudetti rolleyes.gif He's had enough of those, CL ?! yeah ok, CWC mhhmm yep, he's had 3 already, prior to this one .... Maldini doesn't need a title to call it a day !! This is a farewell season to Maldini, is all I am saying. Now in that farewell season the team might go on and win the CL, even better. But that doesn't change that fact that A.C. Milan has a chance at the CWC and be crowned #1 on the world's platform.

As nove said, I wont convince you ... You would rather sit here and explain to people where the management went wrong and what they need to do to fix it. For me, that isn't easy, cuz when I sit and think to myself, what exactly do I have to offer this very management ?! Nothing really. I mean they have their scouts, they have the finances, they have the expertise, and they have the will power to change any and everything to their liking ..

You want to call them cheap ?! Sure, go ahead ... Or maybe not cheap, they are humans and can make a mistake, right ?? yeah sure smile.gif .... Or they could just be too stubborn to know that these old players that are playing, cant do it anymore ? why not, seems like a reasonable argument !

Ok, that is ur right ... But, you have to now know what the board's right is wink.gif They can target, any competition they want. Let that be 'friendly tournament' (something Mancini would say) or CL. They can choose to buy or not. To send the club into bankruptcy or not. They probably could even sell the club to Massimo Moratti ... And in that frame work, I really don't think the critics can say much rolleyes.gif

So don't take it with a pinch of salt and don't think that you've figured it out ... Maybe there is reason within your lines, I am not saying otherwise, but there is just enough reason for this management to consider this CWC one of the greatest achievements of this year, just because they capped 2007 as the #1 club in the world is enough to magnify how critical winning that trophy was wink.gif . Something Silvio had been planning for since overtaking the club from the brink of bankruptcy in '86.

To you maybe it isn't such a remarkable achievement. But to me, I see it as a turning point. A point of reference. Where A.C. Milan is the #1 club in Europe and the World. Not even Madrid could top that !!

p.s. Forget about all the uncertainties in the league and anywhere else, is what I am saying. Enjoy the moments that Milan are enjoying. Did you not see how happy our players were after they won ?! Is it not clear their intentions ?! Did you not see how Paolo cried ?!! This is a competition that means something to them. And today it means something to me too, it means we are the most successful club in the history of this sport !!! This isn't an illusion, this is the reality of things.

p.s.2 and who knows .. Maybe this win in Japan has given this group a drive to push all the way to Moscow and increase the number of international trophies cool.gif

No,we don't. No, back then (after we won the SC) the league just started and CWC were some month away. Was it a priority? Of course. Is it on expense of something bigger and much, much more important like Serie A? Never. The league was still on first place, and main priority. Everybody (board/palyers/coach) was talking about winning it. It was never intended to use league as somethig marginal towards the CWC. If you think so ,it's only your opinion. But the preparation for the season were wrong, as the result we are out of the race so early.

Milan, no matter how hard times we were experiencing, never put Serie A on back seat, especailly before the season begun!! It's unthinkable for one of the greatest teams in the world, and Milan have never done it (and this year is no exception).

And No, I don't care about other clubs.

The problem is not that Ronaldo is 30, the problem is that he's super injury prone and it's well known. You can't putt all your eggs there without a proper back up. Cafu at 30, was like most players at 25, and we had players that were able to paly RB in the time of need. It's not the same it all. Cafu is not injury prone and you don't need to change your entire formation if he's not around. It's not the same dependence.

O.k, but after we won the CL last year, it was 'self-explanatory' that SC and CWC are gonna be ours for sure if we really want them and came with the right aproach. I mean Sevilla and especially Boca are not of Milan's level, and you don't build your whole season around those two games. Look at the past, we almost always took these trophies, but it never interrupted our agenda in the league. In 04, we won the SC, o.k, lost the CWC (Boca just were lucky on penalties), but we won the Serie A convincingly, because we were biuld and had a chance to take it all (if not the Deportivo disaster, that year CL was ours too). What bothers most people that with few adjustments in the summer we could have been competing for Serie A and would have won the SC amd CWC anyway.

*

You cant really calculate it .. I mean, if u wanted to calculate it, then Istanbul was ours and so was all three Scudettos 04,05, and 06.

Again ... I give the board the benefit of the doubt. They have their own agenda, and it is not based around failure, as this team has always come out good in the end.

Anyways, let's just drop it wink.gif

I'm not colculating it. I'm just giving you an example that back then, even though SC and CWC were priorities (not main ones of course), It didn't disturbed us to win the Serie A. As I see it, for Milan, like for every major club in the world, the main priorities every year are the same - Serie A and CL. Sure it can change during the season. Like right now (and last year), when we don't have a chance to win the league, the main priority becames the CL.

I do't know if it's just me, but trophies aren't everything.

I would rather do well in every competition and end with nothing instead of winning something and do horribly in another. Being Champions of Europe doesn't mean as much when you're not even the Champions of Italy. And winning the CWC also loses its value, to me, when we can't even win our own league, how could we be the best team in the World if we're not even in the top 3 in Italy? We need huge changes.

So essentially you're trying to say Istanbul was nothing? That Liverpool are still a nothing team?

Liverpool's and Rafa's reputations were made that night. They've had seasons of mediocrity after that, but they still ride that wave. Let's not declare that the CL doesn't compare to Serie A.

Maybe I just think different. But I wouldn't be disappointed in the team if inspite of finishing behind Roma and Inter, we go on to beat the likes of Manchester, and Madrid and so on.

That's not what Kurt said. But Liverpool were only re-established that night. I mean, they won the European Champions League but they were not the best team in Europe in any way... not even among the 10 best. I'm proud of Milan even if we lost because we deserved to win, we were the strongest team in Europe and I prefer this to Liverpool's situation who won but were a mediocre team... Of course the joy is immense and I don't diminish their victory but it's just not the same! I don't like winning things by luck and they were lucky to win just by playing football for a mere 6 minutes! And last season, we clearly beat United who were the hot favorites but only because the league was lost and our players were fresh. United were giving 110% every game, you can't compare the two... And even if the delight induced by the triumph in Athens was huge, I know that I'm more proud and feel more complete with what we achieved in 04/05 when we were fighting for every target possible till the very end despite losing in the end. To me, the way you win and they way you lose matters! That said, I think United had a much better season than us in the last one even if I consider the CL to be a more important trophy than any championship title...

Disappointed no... but I think you get how I feel by reading what I said above...

And of course I'm not angry with the team and I'm not a disrespectful person but I think our situation would be much better had we made some logical and necessary moves on the market. If that had happened I wouldn't be disappointed even if we were in the same position cause I'd know that at least everything was done right... But our position... you could see this coming...

Moratti: Give us Juve's Scudetti

Inter chief Massimo Moratti has called for Juventus to be stripped of more Scudetti as a result of Calciopoli.

Moratti’s claims refer in the main to the 2001-02 campaign when Juventus dramatically won the title on the final day, finishing a point ahead of Roma with Inter left two behind.

The Bianconeri recorded a win over Udinese, while Inter fell to Lazio in controversial style.

“Are we still one Scudetto short? I’d say more than one,” Moratti insisted in the Corriere dello Sport.

“The Calciopoli scandal made the history of the game still less palatable because one can’t think that the men involved haven’t been at other times.

“I have been saying that there is still lots to do as we need to get over our nostalgic way of thinking.

“How is it possible that certain people continued to do things even after they were banned?

“It’s distasteful that there are these constant links. From what I have read, we were notably disadvantaged in the 2001-02 campaign.”

Adriano to join Sao Paulo on loan from Inter

RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Troubled Inter Milan striker Adriano is to join Sao Paulo on a six-month loan, the Brazilian champions said on Wednedsay.

'(Sao Paulo) concluded with Inter Milan the loan of striker Adriano until June 30, 2008,' the club said on their website.

The 25-year-old Brazilian, once the most feared striker in Serie A, has hardly featured for Inter in the last two seasons after battling fitness and reported alcohol problems.

The move came one month after the powerhouse striker began a fitness and psychological recovery programme at Sao Paulo's training centre.

He is the second big name to return to South American soccer looking to revive his career in the last month after Argentina's Boca Juniors re-signed Juan Roman Riquelme from Villarreal.

'I'm very happy with this deal,' Adriano was quoted as saying. 'Since my first day at the club, everyone has treated me very well.

'It will be an honour to win titles for this club. I'm going to work very hard for this and to return to the Brazil team.'

Adriano has played only one international since his much-criticised performance at the 2006 World Cup. Previously, he was regarded as having a safe place in the national side along with Robinho and Kaka.

Adriano was linked with a move away from the San Siro in the European close season but refused to go out on loan despite interest from former club Parma and Premier League West Ham United.

If all goes well, Adriano will lead the Sao Paulo attack in the South American Libertadores Cup, the region's equivalent of the Champions League, which will be held in the first half of next year.

Sao Paulo have won the Brazilian championship for the last two years, were Libertadores winners in 2005 and runners-up last year.

It's about time, I assume Inter are just trying to put him on show to increase his value for when they sell him.

A Turkish lawyer is taking legal action against Inter Milan, the Italian football team, for wearing a strip with “Crusader-style” red crosses that he alleges is ”offensive to Muslim sensibilities”.

Baris Kaska, a lawyer in Izmir who specialises in European law, said that he had lodged a complaint in a local court against Inter Milan, which last month played the Istanbul team Fenerbahce in a Champions League match at the San Siro stadium in Milan. The Inter players wore a new strip - a white shirt with a giant red cross on it - marking the club's centenary.

Mr Kaska said he was not only seeking damages but was also appealing to Uefa to annul the match, which Inter won 3-0. “That cross only brings one thing to mind - the symbol of the Templar Knights,” he said. “It made me think immediately of the bloody days of the past. While I was watching the game I felt profound grief in my soul.” Mr Kaska told the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia that the cross symbolised “Western racist superiority over Islam”.

Muslim lawyer sues over Inter 'Crusaders' kit - Full article

The whole thing was fairly big so I didn't post it all, but I think it's quite ridiculous myself. I always thought the coat of arms and the flag of the city of Milan was a red cross on a white background. huh.gif

I am baffled as to why some people use the race card of everything, it's a football shirt for f*ck sake!

Poor, poor Inter, nothing they do is right, not even their kit. laugh.gif

Calcio Debate: ‘Worst’ Serie A Team Of The Year So Far

Yesterday we brought to you the best Serie A team of the year, and now by popular demand Carlo Garganese offers his flops of the season so far…

Goalkeeper: Nelson Dida (Milan) – It was a straight fight between Dida and Marco Ballotta for the goalkeeping jersey, however the Brazilian wins the dreaded honour following a catalogue of gaffes this campaign. His play-acting at Celtic in the Champions League was shameful, while the disastrous error which allowed Esteban Cambiasso to score the winner in the Milan derby just summed up Dida’s season so far.

Right Back: Massimo Oddo (Milan) – Perhaps this choice is a little harsh but the truth is that Oddo has been a shadow of the player who was so impressive in the second-half of last season. The wing-back has been at fault on many occasions this term and rumours persist that Milan may look for a replacement. Oddo has also lost his place in the Italian national team to Christian Panucci.

Centre Back: Philippe Mexes (Roma) – Mexes’ improved performances in recent weeks almost cloud over just how poor he was at the beginning of the season. I greatly admire the Frenchman and am certain he will become one of Europe’s best defenders very soon, however he was chiefly to blame for the dreadful sequence that saw the Giallorossi concede a whopping 16 goals in just eight games in September and October.

Left Back: Luciano Zauri (Lazio) – The captain of a team is supposed to be someone who everyone looks up to for inspiration. Perhaps this explains Lazio’s dreadful season so far. Zauri has been simply awful for the Biancocelesti and has been to blame for numerous goals conceded. I would advise the rest of his team-mates to look for inspiration elsewhere.

Centre Midfield: Sergio Almiron (Juventus) – Signed from Empoli in the summer for €9m, Almiron was immediately hailed as the “new Sebsatian Veron”. However he has made just eight league appearances and looks certain to be sold either in January or in June.

Centre Midfield: Tiago Mendes (Juventus) – Tiago was Juventus’ big-money summer signing from Lyon and was trusted to provide the power and authority that had been lacking in midfield since the sales of Patrick Vieira and Emerson. Tiago has certainly resembled Emerson this season – unfortunately that is no longer a good thing.

Right Midfield: Bosko Jankovic (Palermo) – Palermo beat off the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea to sign Jankovic from Mallorca in the summer. The Serbian was rated as one of the best young talents in Europe, however he has badly struggled to settle in Sicily. The 23-year-old has made just 10 league appearances and has done little to justify what all the fuss was about.

Left Midfield: Domenico Morfeo (Parma) – Supremely talented attacking midfielder who never for one reason or another fulfilled his potential. At times Morfeo can look like a world-beater, at other times he can drive you insane. The latter has been the case this season. He had a pre-season bust-up with his coach, while he got himself stupidly sent-off against Juventus just seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Centre Forward: Ronaldo (Milan) – I accept that there is likely to be a catalogue of complaints about this choice, considering his lack of action, however the truth is that Ronaldo’s inability to stay fit is costing his side dear. The 31-year-old has played just once all season, and he even managed to get injured doing a calf stretch before a Champions League game against Benfica.

Centre Forward: Marco Di Vaio (Genoa) – In Genoa’s first season in Serie A for 12 years, Di Vaio was hoped to provide some much-needed experience and fire-power to the team. Unfortunately he did neither and he has hit the back of the net just once in 12 games.

Centre Forward: Adriano (Inter) – I was tempted to select Milan’s Alberto Gilardino, however the fact that he has scored five times in Serie A saves him the embarrassment. I do not want to be too harsh on Adriano as he has been dealt with pretty harshly by the Italian media given his personal problems. However the truth is that he could still be one of the best strikers in the world, if only he could sort out his mind.

Formation: 3-4-3:

                   Dida

  Oddo         Mexes        Zauri

Jankovic  Tiago  Almiron  Morfeo

   Ronaldo  Adriano  Di Vaio

Ronaldo and Dida deserve it, Oddo may not have been playing at his best, but the wosrt RB in the league? Nah, just disappointing.

Why Should We Sign An Italian? – Moratti Blasts

Inter President Massimo Moratti has admitted that one or two signings will probably be made during the January transfer window, however they will not be Italian.

The Nerazzurri have been criticised heavily for the lack of home-grown players in their squad, as they currently have just Marco Materazzi, Francesco Toldo and Paolo Orlandoni, the latter two of whom are reserve goalkeepers.

A spate of injuries at the club have left the normally solid Inter squad looking rather thin, and Walter Samuel was the latest to pick up an injury during Sunday’s Milan derby.

“I wasn’t planning to spend money in January, but after the injury of Samuel things have changed,” said Moratti.

“We are looking for an intelligent signing. It will have to be convenient from all point of views, both economically and technically.

“I don’t think we will sign an Italian, and I see no reason why he shouldn’t be foreign.”

One of Inter’s signings is expected to be in midfield, where Luis Figo, Patrick Vieira, Dejan Stankovic and Olivier Dacourt are all currently sidelined.

Sevilla’s Enzo Maresca has been linked with a move, however Moratti has dismissed such speculation.

“I don’t want to talk about technical qualities, but I can say Maresca is not one of the players we are looking at,” the oil tycoon stated.

“We would like to sign a player who could play in the Champions League.”

"Then I will pack my bags and look for a new adventure. I would like to play for Atletico Madrid and also score 15 goals or so in La Liga."

But he hinted Italy would be a more likely destination, saying: "I will be back soon for a simple reason. My dream is to wear the national team jersey. Playing abroad won't help me."

Bianchi revealed he almost joined Fiorentina during the close season, saying: "I was very close to Fiorentina last season. (Cesare) Prandelli is a great coach and it would be good to work with him. But I would not refuse an offer from Inter, Milan, Juve, Napoli or Roma."
