So, Seedorf might actually stay. He says he hasn't decided yet, and will think about it in the next few days. unsure.gif

Bah!

It was always hard to say goodbye to these players, Zee included, but really he is not needed from a technical pov. now that Pippo, Nesta and Rino are going, I'd rather he we left as well.
X-Offender
It's very worrisome. I can see Allegri playing him in the big games next season, as well. I'd rather have kept Gattuso or Zambrotta than him, honestly.

Me too. But then again - it really appears we won't be bringing in any creative player other then Monto and Aquilani, who's been nothing but average. And on a good day, Seedorf (the present day) tops Aqui in any way.

Oh, come on now. sad.gif Make the correct decision, Seedorf, or you'll only warm the bench if Allegri has his way.

I don't know, man. I wouldn't mind keeping Seedorf as just a back-up, a rotational player, to play when someone needs a break, or someone's injured. Kind of like Rui Costa in his last season with us. But knowing him, and knowing Allegri, he'll probably play him when the going gets tough, against the Madrid's an Barcelona's, and those are the games Clarence cannot withstand anymore. That's why I find it very worrisome. If we wanna move forward and open a new cycle, Seedorf has to leave.

Yes.. But i dont think its caused by Seedorf, its just that he has the experience. Something that forces Allegri to look to him, especially when there is an injury crisis and he is fit to start. Its pointless debating an unforceenable future.. He' a legend, if one more season at Milan is what he decides, let him be. In 10 years time, he might be a CL winning coach for us. He is a midfield general that knows more about this game than any of us could conjure up in a 3 paged post.

I agree with him leaving now, just as Nesta &co, simply because it pisses me off how much i hear this broken record of them having to leave.

Experience counts little when your physique doesn't hold any longer. And we have plenty of experienced players to count on. It's not like Seedorf is Gulliver among the lilliputians.

I think Allegri only uses him when he has his hands tied. There's clear friction between the 2 so I don't get why he'd want to stay, it would only mess things up. We already have a lot of issues to deal with

And at this point, I'm positive that Seedorf staying would mean that we don't move for a quality CM in the summer

I had a feeling that this would happen, simply because he did not join the others when they were saying goodbye to the curva fans

Yes. But it's wrong how you put it. Maybe Milan is counting to sign a new creative player, but in 2013 - I don't know who's contract runs out next summer. Maybe it's Eriksen. And in the meantime Seedorf is the solution. It seems very logical to me.

It makes perfectly sense if we're after say Eriksen and have an agreement with him. He promised to stay at Ajax one more season and in 2013 we can have him. Monto and Seedorf now, Eriksen in 2013.

I'm not insane, I know we need more then Monto and Seedorf, but that's the way it could be if you ask me.

We always say it's next summer, no next summer something will happen, oh no, maybe the summer after that. It's basically become a broken record of the same events.

I think looking at the situation logically, Seedorf would be the worst of the lot to keep. Simply because he won't accept anything less than an important position in the team. And if the management give him another deal than it would come with a promise of just that.

We need that creative player now, whether Seedorf stays or goes. But in the twisted reality of our management, Clarence is still as good as he was in his 20s so we wouldn't need to get anyone else.

And if you think there isn't any friction between him and Allegri explain why he hasn't even been called up since he was pulled out of that game early and went straight out the tunnel.

And if you think there isn't any friction between him and Allegri explain why he hasn't even been called up since he was pulled out of that game early and went straight out the tunnel.

But it's simple:

You say we need creation. Can we pay creation? Only our management knows if we have the money to buy a great potential like Eriksen or someone who's already a star. If we keep Seedorf the answer is - no, we don't have the money. Don't you think our management would rather have a new star then keep dragging on Zee? Allegri also? But to me it seems as if we simply can't buy him now; it's hard to replace 6 senators at once. We must plan. I really don't know, but maybe the management has a plan - this summer we buy a defender and a DM, next summer it's gonna be a AM. Nesta, Bommel and Seedorf are world class players, we cannot expect our management to simply replace them in one summer.

And we can sign all the Montolivo's of the world, that won't make a difference. What we need in terms of creation is quality, not quantity. And quality these days is rare and expensive.

Rift? I really don't know. Allegri hasn't used quite a few players since Fiorentina - Emanuleson, Zambrotta, Mexes and Seedorf all disappeared. In the end, don't you think that Allegri and Seedorf know better then we do? I mean if he stays it will be clear that the rift is surmounted or that the management is sending Max a message. In any way it's good.

And one last thing. Don't say Seedorf is the worst option: in reality, everyone who'd stay would be called the worst option here. People would shout "oh no, Rino, he's barely a player - he's the worst of them all"...I know this mentality pretty well.
han2503
If we had a plan than keeping on players such as Seedorf until they could barely run for 30 minutes and having to let them all go in one summer wouldn't have happened.

Planning went out the window about 5 years ago. Milan have been winging it for years now in the transfer market. We have no strategy or plan. We just bargain buy to our heart's content. That's the strategy this club has adopted. And if once in a blue moon an Ibra falls into our laps then we'll celebrate that as if we've won the CL rolleyes.gif

Keeping Seedorf implies that we do not have a plan. But rather that once again, the management are trying to run away from the reality of the situation. And no the answer is not bringing in 10 Montolivo's but getting in a top player. And keeping Seedorf would surely mean any chance of signing that top player is dead.

You can talk about money all ou want, but we won't have that money next season or the one after that. The money only comes if Silvio decides he wants to give it. It's not like keeping Seedorf on is such a cheap option. He earnth around 3m after taxes this season. How is that the economic option?
Fillipo Simone
You're right. I wish Seedorf also goes and we end this talk, it makes me sick.
X-Offender
I believe Montolivo will be our major creative force next season. Hopefully we sign that Strootman kid as he has quite a vision, too, besides being a rock in front of the defense. But as back-up, I think Aquilani and Merkel would be quite decent. At least we wouldn't have to rely on Muntari if Montolivo gets injured.

Not taking anything away from you, but don't you find it a little over the top when you ascertain what the club's strategies are? Are you that informed? Or is it because of a certain bias?

Not taking anything away from you, but don't you find it a little over the top when you ascertain what the club's strategies are? Are you that informed? Or is it because of a certain bias?

Bias?

What does bias have anything to do with witnessing the same thing practically every summer?

When was the last time that our management showed any form of plan in how they dealt with transfers. We're chasing this guy one week, the other the next because he's too pricey, the week after that we go back to the original. Trying to go after strikers when other areas are far more pressing.

If we had a strategy than losing all of our senior players in one summer wouldn't have been the case.

I think it's pointless to talk about it with you since you always want to imply that whatever the management do is correct and all of our talk is just assumption. When the facts are what they are. We've been in a mess for a while now. And we had a few lucky strokes with the CL in 07 and Ibra but let's not kid ourselves. None of that came about because of some masterful strategy from our management
Jack Sparrow
Well there is no secret that we do not have buying power. In such a situation it is easy to say, we must scout and unearth gems like we did with Kaka. But it's irrational to think we're the only clubs that do it. Do we even presume that Madrid or Barca or even Man City can't send qualified scouts to the areas we can??

Where we are strong is in bargaining and selling our playing environment. That's where the genius of our management lies. You cannot put on the table money that is not there in your bank account...what you can put on the table is the guarantee that the player will have a far better time in our team than in the 'other' team that's offering big bucks. Plus we show them the players who have made that same decision and are happy about it.

The transfer strategy cannot be blamed at the moment. Yes, we let things slide from circa 2006. But what's done is done. Now we're fixing it, and you cannot fix a negative cash flow in 3 months.
Fillipo Simone
This. What's the point in debating our strategy when everything depends on money? A success-story in football equals money and buying power. It isn't just about Milan, it's about Inter, Lazio or any other big club with limited resources.
X-Offender
No guys, what han is saying is 100% correct. We've never had a strategy or plan in signing players. We just scout the earth looking for bargains and free agents, whilst at the same time renewing the contracts of our +33 years old senators again and again in order to survive. And yes, that is due to the lack of money. We simply don't have any. Silvio only spends that certain amount to even the accounts every summer, but he barely chips in in the signing of players any longer. Whenever it's a classy name that appeals to him, like Ronaldinho or Ibrahimovic, he won't hesitate. As the for the "normal earthlings" we are so desperate for (CB, LB, DM etc.), that's Galliani's job to sniff around and see what he can get at the cheapest price. This has been our "strategy" for the last 7-8 years, and it stopped working when we lost Sheva and Kaka', and the rest of our stars grew old. So, unless Silvio opens his wallet and hands to Galliani a modest amount (30-40 million) to sign new players this summer, don't expect anything lucrative from the market. Acerbi, Traoré, Montolivo etc. are the best we can get.
han2503

The money was never there and will never be there. So what's the point of saying "let's keep Seedorf, the management might have a big plan for 2013"?

This is the same thing we've been saying for years now. The reality is that is Silvio does not want to put any money in than nothing will happen. So I don't get why you guys feel that it's ok to keep Seedorf and look the other way to the big issues that keeping him would bring to the team

QUOTE
Clarence Seedorf reflected on his decade at Milan, noting his teammates were like brothers and Carlo Ancelotti a great friend.

The Dutchman was one of several stars whose contract expired this summer and opted to walk away, though he has stated he’ll continue his playing career elsewhere.

“To spend 10 years at Milan really is a long experience,” Seedorf told Al Jazeera television.

“When you play for such a long time with the same teammates, a rapport builds that is beyond the professional sphere. You become almost like brothers.

“Even those who arrived later to the squad were treated that way, as we did really well to create a wonderful group.”

Ancelotti was on the Milan bench for eight years and Seedorf has no qualms about putting him above the other Coaches.

“He was a great friend and put a lot of responsibility on my shoulders in the locker room. We had a wonderful rapport and I was very sad when he left.

“President Silvio Berlusconi has remarkable charisma and he loves Milan like crazy.”

Who says it's a big money transfer? Eriksen's contract runs out in 2014, maybe we have something with Ajax and the player which will make everyone happy. Or maybe we're planing on another free agent. I don't know.

My point is, Montolivo will be also capable to score one goal and make 6 assists in 20+ appearances. No need for Aquilani now. What we need is extra class or extra potential and quantity cannot solve this problem.

+1

Thus far much of the team has had either negative or nothing to say about $hitlegri:

Pato: $hitlegri does not talk to me. If he wants me to do things differently he should tell me
Flamini: I wasn't injured all the time. $hitlegri just didn't pick me
Taiwo: $hitlegri doesn't talk to me much and when he does (keep in mind this is a Nigerian who played in France) he speaks too fast
Mexes: (see above)

Nesta, Gattuso, Seedorf: Good bye to all. Carlo was a great coach and friend
Inzaghi: There were times I could have been useful
iBra: I'm being played out of postion.

Of course then there was the Pirlo saga as well...
