Did you know? Today, Clarence Seedorf became 34. I will support the talented player forever! Just read an article about him and getting deeply moved. How time flies, I was in high school when he transfered to Milan in 2002. And now, I am already 25... Forza Clarence! http://www.gofootballgo.com/serie-a/forza-clarence/

Happy Birthday!!

Seedorf - there's a bit of the Marmite about him. Fans either adore or hate him.

I adore, but I know a lot of you guys have no time for the guy.

I think the difference this season is that Leo wouldn't hesitate to drop him, he wasn't playing in the first few matches of the season and he's not instantly back into the first 11 after injury.

I think Leo has set the record straight with all the players. Unlike Carlo who had his first 11 and wouldn't budge from it no matter what.

Seedorf wants to play every game so he's playing well to keep his spot.

I've noticed that no matter how he's playing, Clarence is often the first player to be hooked off.

I think Leo isn't overly keen on Seedorf, but uses him because he knows what he can bring.

First chance he gets though, he often substitutes him.

That's only happened recently though, before the xmas break Seedorf was playing as many minutes as Dinho, but Seedorf hasn't been all that great, especially his last 3 games he was just jogging. Leo also took off Pirlo when he saw fit against Chievo. I don't really see any imbalance with how he treats the players

I've noticed it all season tbh. This isn't just recent.

So, Seedorf is taking part in a tv show on Italy's cartoon network. It's called 'Let's Goal', and it's a sort of reality show for kids in which they learn football technique (taught by Seedorf) and learn bits about rules and the history of the sport. The winners each week face off in penalty kicks.

I hope he becomes a back room staff for us. I can see him becoming a scout or TD or something like that.
il_diavolo_mtl
i'd love if he helped us scout in holland, soooo much talent there to be harnessed
Linkman
Doesn't Gullit do that already?
ForzaMaldini
Gullit? Last time I heard something of him he was coaching a club in America.

Seedorf owns... Needs to stay at the squad for at least two more seasons
Dracoris
He resigned in '08.... not sure what he's up to now
Bluesummers
Gullit is one of our scouts. He scouts north america. But recently he hasn't done jack diddly. I dont know what he's doing these days but there have been zero reports from him so far lol. Probably just free loading off milan tongue.gif

He is one of the most underrated players ever ... Personally I consider him a reference point in our midfield. And before someone replies and says he's slow, fat assed, and getting too old for us ... His commanding presence is enough to compensate for lapses during a long season.
Jack Sparrow
He's underrated by those who see football as about pace and 1090909090 stepovers/min. Thankfully there are few members like tht here. Most people will admit when he's on song, like MC Hammer says, 'You can't touch this!'...but he's inconsistent.

However I don't think his inconsistency drags us down as much as people think. It's just that they compare him to when he's at his decisive best. For eg. even when Kaka is playing badly, you still see him running fast (which btw is his USP) with the ball, leading everyone to think he's actually doing something. Same with Pato (who when not on form is only marginally better than Walcott).

I personally think he should have been made an elder statesman by now. I also think that's what Seedorf (and most of the oldies on the squad) wants. It's just that there's no one else who can do his job as well. So at 34, he's forced to play match after match.

Not meaning to open up old wounds from the summer, but it's borderline embarrassing for the English game when Heskey is considered to be one of the 4 best strikers the English game can produce sad.gif

He was amazing last night. I wish he was 5 years younger, or we could clone him...

If only he performed like that in every game, rather than just when he wants.

Motivate him .. Every major title we won in recent years, you would see Seedorf as a go-to guy on the pitch. This 3rd place finish is not something that he likes to hear I guess dry.gif
X-Offender
Tell him he'll leave at the end of the season, and he'll play the remaining seven games as if they were seven finals. wink.gif

Seedorf has now played more games than any other foreign player in Milan history. 395 is the magic number.

AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf is appointed Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau by the Netherlands ambassador to Italy Alphonsus Stoelinga, in a ceremony in Rome Thursday, April 28, 2011, bestowed for his services to football and charity work. Seedorf is the only player to have won the Champions League with three different clubs _ Ajax in 1995, Real Madrid in 1998 and Milan in 2003 and 2007. In 2005, Seedorf founded the not-for-profit Champions for Children foundation.

He should stay on one more season .. He has been through all the downs with this team, he deserves to win one more CL, and close a very impressive career king.gif

I think Seedorf has won more than enough CLs to be honest.

Wholeheartedly agreed! innocent.gif He has had a good run with multiple clubs, and frankly unless he is going to play a major part in our next CL win (whenever it comes about) it just won't be right for me. That's just a free, unearned title, if he is only going to play a few minutes here and there. Just like Oddo and his World Cup win, which we can say he got lucky playing for 20 minutes in the whole campaign.

And just between the two of us I'd like it if Paolo kept his 5 CL titles with Milan, and Seedorf his 4 with 3 different clubs.

More then enough? You make it sound like there's a proscribed doze of CLs to be won. tongue.gif
Danny
Seedorf's enjoyed a renaissance in the second half of the season. He's turned back the clock and turned in some stellar displays - his performance at WHL was just absolute class in a glass, and he's done it in the league too.

I wouldn't be completely against keeping him on and using him sparingly next season - he still has it, even after all this time.

He's won 4 of them. Ronaldo never won any (just ask acid how it feels!). Maldini won 5. that's why I think he's won enough!

(just ask acid how it feels!)

cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif Sometimes I think this is part of their charm, just like Maldini who never won it on the international stage. Still, when I think of guys who got lucky like Rivaldo, Carlos and more, it just leaves a bit of a void in my heart. Having said that, I really hope Pato wins it, and soon. With Milan most probably.

And as for the earlier notion, I still stand by it, Seedorf has earned a healthy amount of CL medals, and unless he plays an active part in another win (which who knows, maybe he still can) then yeah, he'll deserve the 5th. wink.gif If it is about being a freeloader, playing one or two matches, or randomly through the campaign, and we win it next season, then it will be just that. A win is a win is a win, but it will not be as glossy and glowing as the other 4 Seedorf has won.

Or the 5 Paolo earned. king.gif And he earned every single one of them, just like he would have wanted!
Fillipo Simone
Well, Ronaldo on the other hand more then enough World Cups, while Maldini and Seedorf won none. It's really pointless discussion.
acid911
Yeah, and then we have schmucks who have won everything, deservedly or luckily. tongue.gif CL, World Cup, Euros, Confederation Cups, the whole enchilada! So yeah, it's not something that will get anyone anywhere. I guess, we'll know soon enough who is staying, who is leaving, who is coming and the answer to the ugly question: $$$ vs loyalty.

If we can win the title in the capital city (Roman cuisine, anyone?), then the negotiations will kick into high gear!
