Hopefully we'll get an answer today. This is getting ridiculous, if Seedorf goes now we'll have to look for 2 top creative mids, it's not like there are many of them rolleyes.gif

Italian champions Milan have confirmed that Clarence Seedorf has extended his contract for a further season.

The Dutchman met club officials this morning where he put pen to paper, committing himself to the outfit until June 2012.

Seedorf’s previous deal was set to expire next month and he began extension talks last week.

However, amid interest from numerous Brazilian sides, he decided to take some time to review his options.

After speaking with boss Massimiliano Allegri about his tactical plans for next term, Seedorf has now agreed to stay.

The midfielder, 35, joined Milan in the summer of 2002 from city rivals Inter.

Quite true. I'm not happy about this. Galliani says if Seedorf signs we will buy only one midfielder. With a midfield of Flamini, Gattuso, Van bommel, Ambrosini and Seedorf, it is simply not good enough. Too old and not enough creativity.

Clarence Seedorf says money was never a factor in his decision to extend his Milan contract.

The Dutchman had spent the last week pondering his options before renewing his Rossoneri deal until 2012 today.

“I have never moved for financial reward in my career,” the 35-year-old midfielder told MilanNews. “Money was never an issue.

“There were never any problems of an economical nature. I just needed to reach an agreement with the club, an outfit who I have a great relationship with.

“I wanted to still feel important. Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani gave me the answers I was looking for and that is why I remained.”

Seedorf has enjoyed much success with the Rossoneri since his 2002 switch from Inter and he is targeting more glory.

“After the Scudetto, I want us to confirm ourselves in Europe. I want my fifth Champions League. I’m hungry to reach more targets. There is no better place to win than at Milan.”

The Italian champions will be without Andrea Pirlo next season though after he joined Juventus yesterday.

“I’m sad that Pirlo has left,” he added. “I’ve lost one of my best friends and the side a great player. He’s made history here and I wish him well.”

Does that mean he will be a starter?

Depends, as long as he's a sub, it's a good decision, if not then it's bad. In terms of squad depth it's good. Fabregas was never going to come to Milan no matter what happened. Imo we still need 2 creative players, Seedorf or not, our midfield at this point in time is mid-table level, aside from Boateng and VB and Seedorf on his day, we have no quality. This is why I wanted Pirlo to stay, now we're going to sign one creative player, so it's him and if he doesn't immediately adjust, it's going to be Seedorf... dry.gif

Agreed. Like I said, in terms of depth in midfield it's a good decision, but with only one player coming in we're going to have trouble

I wouldn't even want him in all honesty. Sure he's a good player but with the amount he'd cost and what we'd pay him in wages would outweigh what he would bring to the team. I doubt if he is that much of a gamechanger the amount of times in big games he fails to show up certainly in recent seasons, yet people don't mention it when it comes to him. He also has the perfect Barca attitude, short passing, movement, oh and run after the referee after every decision, it's obvious where he will end up.

Delighted Seedorf is staying. Still has it - pulled off some marvelous displays this season. Big time player who will be used now and again.

With Pirlo leaving, it was vital that we kept Seedorf as a quality backup for whoever is coming as Andy's replacement. Good deal.

I would not have mind it if Seedorf would be sub for our new LCM, and we would sign also a new AM with Boateng as his sub. Having also Emanuelson and Merkel, we maybe should loan out Merkel then, but we don't have to since we to sign only onw new midfielder now, a LCM. The words that we don't need a new AM because we've got Boateng and Seedorf hurts when reading and still hurts. I just hope the latest spoken/written words are false/lies/whatever.

And we can sign two creative midfielders (one LCM, one AM) without going crazy with the money. Besides the obvious expensive ones, there are also other options. Unlikely we will do so though.

Seedorf chose with his heart

Clarence Seedorf insists he signed a contract extension at Milan without being promised first team football next season.

The Dutchman’s previous contract with the Rossoneri was set to expire this summer, but he eventually decided to accept a 12-month extension.

“I didn’t ask for anything,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “I didn’t meet with boss Massimiliano Allegri and yet I signed anyway.

“I just wanted to stay here.

“I was given no guarantees. After all, after 900 games in my career, what could I possibly have asked Allegri?

“My heart told me to stay in order to win the Scudetto and the Champions League.”

He mostly suffered when he was moved from his position when Boateng went off, also he's coming off an injury and has only played 1 official game and that was a month ago.

He also provided the assist from the corner.

Like I said, he did great in the first 25 minutes, then Boateng got injured, he had to play in a more dynamic position and his body simply couldn't handle it. He lost many balls in the second half of the game, he barely pressed their midfielders and he didn't really create anything up front. I'd give him a 5.5 and that's being generous.
Jack Sparrow
Really? I thought it was pretty obvious that he was moved into the AM position and suffered from the ball just not getting there. At which point he was dropping deep to collect it..and then he had no outlet.
Zed.D
I wish there was a magic way to make him 5 years younger. the guy is sheer class. too bad he was always a bit.. I don't know how to say it, lazy, maybe. he works his *** off these days, no doubt, but when he was younger he was more than often guilty of not trying (or caring?) enough.

But to see him try like this in this age makes me kind of forget his lazier days.

We most likely scored twice from corners from the last 4 years.

Aquilani is amazing at them, while Seedorf stopped with the nonsense short corner he used to take last season. This could be a real asset for us this season, and with guys like Ibra, Thiago, Pato in there, why not use it as much as possible. Next game against Barca we need to get as many corners as we can. They're very fragile on set-pieces
