hmm i want to watch the barca game..psg for the win!
Zed.D
Rooting for Juve and PSG... but I think Barca and Bayern will go through.
Fillipo Simone
I'm for Bayern and PSG. Hopefully this will be one of Carlo's CL nights.
han2503
Don't know if I want Juve to go through tonight. On one hand it would be good for Italy and it would keep them a bit more occupied (although they've already won the league so that doesn't make much of a difference) and on the other I want them to lose and get demoralised badly. They need a good slap in the face as they're turning into arrogant pr!cks and what better way then to get slapped around by the big boys of Europe
Fillipo Simone
I want Bayern to win this. Realistically, they are the only good standing in the way of two evils.
Zed.D
Barca have some cheaters and divers, but I wouldn't call them evils.
Zed.D
Without Messi they look so ineffective in attack.

I give up! 1-0 to you guys.

Don't give up. He's clearly onside, clearly. Don't listen to these fools and keep arguing!

Zed.D
PSG the better team. they better take advantage while Messi is out because if he comes in as a last resort things can get complicated.

laugh.gif laugh.gif Of course I was right. just wanted to spare the folk the trouble.
Zed.D
Whoever says Xaviesta are the reason Barca are what they are need to watch this game. without Messi they look so mediocre. that's not saying Xavi and Iniesta are mediocre, but they need Messi to shine as much as Messi needs them to shine.

I think you got it wrong. It's not that Barcelona is made by Xaviesta, it's that Messi is what he is because of Xaviesta wink.gif
kurtsimonw
PASTOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Zed.D
PASTORE!!!! what an assist Zlatan!

@ Fillipo

Well that too is not true IMO. he's scored dozens of solo efforts that show how brilliant a footballer he is. he'd succeed in any other club.
kurtsimonw
and to think he wants to come to Milan at some point. Pastore with Balo and El Shaarawy would be amazing.
Zed.D
Verratti is obsessed with chipping his passes.

He does? has he really said it?

I'd sign Lucas and Verratti from that team too if I could. all class footballers.

Yep
kurtsimonw
Bayern 1-0 (3-0) up.

I would like Bayern to get whoever wins this, hopefully PSG. The idea of Zlatan, Lavezzi, Lucas and Pastore against their back line is hilarious.
kurtsimonw
Dammit. Pedro.
kurtsimonw
I think this is why I couldn't be a professional footballer. Lavezzi barely touches Alba who then rolls around like he's broke his leg. Lavezzi sporting tries to help him up and Alba pushes him away. I think that's the point where I give him something to really roll around about.

I thought Zlatan pinched him.
kurtsimonw
If it's Bayern v Barca Final I think it'll be the 1st CL Final I've not watched since about 1997.
Fillipo Simone
Naah, Alba rapidly absorbed the Barcelona mentality.

Man, PSG were so near.
Zed.D
I wanted Barca to go out more than I wanted PSG to go through. I can't feel sorry for PSG, they're still are the evil, money driven club that took away our stars by force.

This Barca will be very lucky to make the final as they have no defense. all the three other teams are better than them.

That's a funny comment, considering Bayern have by far the strongest defense in Europe.
Fillipo Simone
Yeah, but Kurt doesn't rate Lahm, and who cares about Dante, Martinez and Alaba anyway tongue.gif
X-Offender
The individuals don't matter, what matters are the stats, right Kurt? wink.gif
Zed.D
Haha!

Had to sleep early tomorrow so didn't watch the full match..but I couldn't sleep and decided to turn on the T.V for the last minutes Barca vs PSG..and Barca were doing the same crap. Pathetic.

Comes immediately after a game in the league in which they won 5-0, and a player who doesn't play regularly scored a hat-trick in front of just Iniesta on this occaision, yep.

Yet the plaudits come and shout from all around the land about feats mainly achieved by a player in this league, yep.

Just going to be brutally honest when I see a comment like this.
kurtsimonw
So Xaviesta don't play well against a very good PSG with no Messi and suddenly they need Messi?

Explain this then please! Messi unable to score and Barca lose. Is it because it's the almighty Osasuna, or is it to do with Xaviesta on the bench?
Zed.D
^^ I said they all need each other.

Without any of them Barca would probably never have achieved all this success. but you insist it's down to Xavi and Iniesta. OK, believe what you want.

Barca don't have an attack without Messi and a midfield without Xavi and Iniesta. they're all equally important.

The game vs Mallorca, last team in the league's standings? right. I was talking about real games. a half fit Messi came on and changed the course of the game last night.

And the thing is whoever scored that hattrick vs Mallorca can't do in on a regular basis like Messi does. that's the difference between good players and world class ones, that's why Messi wins four Ballon d'Ors in a row while the other don't, yep.
acid911

Didn't get the chance to watch the matches. But so happy at the result of one. cry.gif Juventus kicked out of football's real playground like the helpless (and headless) chicken they are. I knew Bayern would decimate them. Feel pretty bad for PSG, would have loved to see Barcelona thrown out, but then again it would be have been too much joy!

But at least they scored one goal, unlike the bunch of pathetic blind idiots we put up in Camp Nou.

The thing is we don't suggest this. We just suggest that Messi has had the fortune of playing in front of 2 of the most gifted midfielders to ever play the game, thus has contributed to his success. Has Messi helped those 2 too? Sure. Thing is they also look as gifted when we've seen them outside of Barca and have pioneered Spain to multiple success in recent years too, something I can't say for Lionel at this moment in time. That's our point.

Real games - really?

Ok, maybe we need to strip all the goals Messi has scored when Barca have cantered to victory too?

Yeah it's pretty tough to score on a regular basis when you're sat on the bench on a regular basis, I'll give you that.

I didn't say anything that suggests otherwise.

As for the last two lines, we're talking about Barcelona here and how Messi, Xavi and Iniesta compliment each other. let's not dag the NT thing in it. at least not until Messi has played as many games for his NT as Xavi or Iniesta have. what did Xavi achieve before 2008 with Spain? nothing.

He'd still be one of the world's top scorers.

Who are we talking about here? Pedro? because if it's him, he got his fare share of chances and proved he's not another Messi. if he plays consistently, he won't be able to replicate what Messi does, that's for sure. no one else in that team for that matter can. it's about time you admit it that Messi is a level above 99% of world's attackers.

We are, but I was giving reasoning for mine and others opinion on the matter that Xavi/Iniesta have installed success on a team outside of Barca. Yeah prior to 2008 he won nothing with them, since then he's won everything with them - the point?

Cesc. I don't even know what you're arguing here, I've always admited he's above 99% of the world's attackers.

The point being that Messi "MIGHT" win a WC or at least shine for Argentina before he's 28, or 30, or 32. he's still got so much time. you always use his failure to shine for Argentina against him in arguments and fair enough, he hasn't been the same player for Argentina. but that doesn't mean what he's achieved with Barca can be taken away from him or be credited mostly to Xavi and Iniesta because they have won major trophies with Spain while Messi hasn't.

And when I said without Messi Barca seriously lack something in attack and that Xavi and Iniesta need him to complete their work you got a bit mad! biggrin.gif
Rossoneri7
I think you boys are missing the bigger picture here, when dissecting the Barca squad. The secret is in their 4-3-3 formation, their time together since the youth ranks and the Barca management which has kept that core intact.

All the above are the main ingredients for this Barcelona's dominance, without isolating one or two players. Messi standing alone above the rest and singling out Xavi is something that will always be in practice, but the main pillar of their success is the collective and how it was cultivated from the youth ranks is the main reason for such strong performances with these players together.

Bayern vs Barca
Dortmund vs Real

acid911
You beat me again Will! mad.gif angry.gif realmad.gif Was just about to post this! biggrin.gif tongue.gif And just as my tummy suspected, the draw was drawn to a tee. No Madrid and Barcelona meeting before the final, then. Hopefully not in the final as well. I'd much prefer Bayern to do the job in the coming weeks.
Zed.D

So, Bayern-Barca and Dortmund-Madrid it is with both the Spanish teams playing the away game at home. how ****ing predictable, good job UEFA. (I don't how they do it, but it must have been fixed somehow!)

haha sorry devilsmiley.gif Hopefully Bayern take care of Barca..I can easily say they're the better team but who knows.
And, I'm sure Madrid will easily handle Dortmund.

I forgive you, though I must say I am developing an inherent dislike for you. dry.gif I kid, I kid. laugh.gif tongue.gif Though regarding your comment above, I must say that that Madrid may quite as well have their hands full with Dortmund and their fast pace game. As for Bayern, I'm more than willing to bet my farmhouse on them doing the job.

We made it far too easy for Barcelona, while they barely scraped through PSG. Bayern will not be as forgiving.

Lol, who didn't see that one coming? rolleyes.gif

Zed.D
Madrid to easily handle Dortmund? that wasn't the case in the group stages...

I want Dortmund to make the final, but I think Bayern will beat Barca and I don't want an all Spanish or all German final, I generally don't like finals with two teams of the same country because it doesn't feel like a CL/European thing.

So,Dortmund-Barca final for me (I just don't care for Bayern and I wouldn't be surprised if they choked once again) with Dortmund winning it!

Predictable or not, it was my choice for the draw and I'm happy that's how it came to be. It'll be two great ties.
