Does anyone take into account that Messi is two years younger than Ronaldo here? blink.gif

That was my point in responding to Fillipo. Stats are facts, but they need a context. Saying Messi has a better games:goals ratio is ridiculous because he's only ever played for an elite team. Saying Ronaldo's Madrid record is better than Messi's Barca record is equally as bad.

As JB said, people have their own opinion and reasons, not sure why people keep starting this over.

And don't blame me. I mentioned Ronaldo's record, but I didn't even mention or compare it to Messi in any way to start this off! biggrin.gif

QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ Oct 5 2012, 09:49 AM) *
Not really. If you want to compare Messi in Spain vs Ronaldo in Spain, you need to compare from the time Ronaldo arrived there (3 years with change) when they both on top. Kurt's comparison taking all the Messi Barca years including when he was a teenager while only taking Ronaldo last years.

So it's more like:

Messi: 178 games - 183 gaals
Ronaldo: 154 games - 158 goals

Which is pretty much the same, though Messi has more assists and scored less on penalties.

Though don't know why start all this all over again, nobody's gonna change his mind about who he's prefer and we have this argument every few month.

That's actually remarkable. I didn't note this.

The penalty argument is interesting. For example we already have our official website saying how Il Pharoah has had a better start to the league than last season's Capocannoniere Zlatan. And this is with Zlatan having scored 2 goals off penalties.

Hehe, a million US$ here and there. biggrin.gif tongue.gif In cash, of course! Seriously though, this CRON vs Messi debate has been going on for so long (not just here, but on the Interweb) that it probably could be a lucrative side business. I mean, the two couldn't be more different, physically, or the style that they play.
Fillipo Simone
Just as a side-not, Jack Bauer answered for me, good post smile.gif

But let's stop here or transfer the discussion to the Primera thread.

Thought was only possible in PES master league records... Not in real life... And in such a big team too. I am sure he would not score that many in Italy though. Just two different philosophies of the game.
QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Oct 4 2012, 09:35 PM) *
Yeah, he's a 25 or so league goals a season player in any league. Just in Spain he's a 35/40+.

It's not so much about the league as it is about the teams. Real Madrid and Barçe are so superior. They wouldn't score such amounts for Valencia or Juventus.
kurtsimonw
True.

That might be the case too. But I remember how for example someone like Oliveira was a goal machine in a "small" team in Spain and here at Milan couldn't cut it.

Mourinho recalling a certain CL game with Mario:

“I could write a book of 200 pages of my two years at Inter with Mario, but the book would not be a drama – it would be a comedy,” the tactician noted.

“I remember one time when we went to play Kazan in the Champions League. In that match I had all my strikers injured. No Diego Milito, no Samuel Eto’o, I was really in trouble and Mario was the only one.

“Mario got a yellow card in the 42nd minute, so when I got to the dressing room at half-time I spend about 14 minutes of the 15 available speaking only to Mario.

“I said to him: ‘Mario, I cannot change you, I have no strikers on the bench, so don’t touch anybody and play only with the ball. If we lose the ball no reaction. If someone provokes you, no reaction, if the referee makes a mistake, no reaction.'

“The 46th minute – red card!”

It happens every single time on here whenever you mention anything positive about Ronaldo. I joke about it but it always happens. I'll give the Messi fanboys something, they really love that little man, so much anything competitive about his main rival has to be counteracted, certainly on here.

How posting Ronaldo stats instigates this I do not know, especially when it's the same people replying mentioning directly the debate from this who claim to hate it.

Geez, that's such harsh judgment coming from someone as yin as yourself.

QUOTE (KillerMax @ Oct 6 2012, 12:17 PM) *
Geez, that's such harsh judgment coming from someone as yin as yourself.

No really, I have no soft feelings for people who are so into themselves that they forget that there are other people in this world. They may be footballers, celebrities, even people I know in real life. sleep.gif I just assign them the grade 'B'. Yes, I have my very own personal grading system:

A+ - Inspirational people, the peak of everything good in humanity
A - Most good, honest, hardworking fun-loving folks
B - People who are full of themselves inside out, pricks in general, without a care for others
C - Corrupt souls, most politicians, people in power who unknowingly affect lives in a negative way
D - Vile, ugly individuals, murderers, evil personified

I had already explained this I recall (in the movies thread, I reckon, something about Colin Farrel) that while I find no reason to hate any celebrity, no matter how good or bad a person they are, it's their choice after all. But those that do conduct themselves better in life, have earned that extra distinction, as far as I am concerned.

Through it all though, you won't find me as a personality-worshiper, however. wink.gif Even the best people I know and love (or am a fan of in general), I understand they can make a mistake, that is what humanity is all about. And there are things and emotions above humanity - humanity is just a reference point. That's my yin.

And that's on reason why I don't want Balotelli in Milan, he'll be a bigger shipwreck than Cassano. The guy battled so much adversity early on in life, and rose above other young players through his talent. Why waste it, by being lazy or crazy or stupid? Deliberately or otherwise. It's a one in a million opportunity, make the most of it.

Gee, now you've got me talking deep philosophy in the CL thread. laugh.gif tongue.gif Way to go Max!

Agreed. It's fun as long as it's a story related to Inter, not to us.
acid911
True, man. sad.gif There's a thing such as sheer class, grace, sportsmanship and sportsman spirit. Some people are born with it, some earn it, others are lucky enough to stumble into all these great things. Vice versa, there are people who can't make out these values, even if they hit them on their head. They just can't.

One would think living in a country such as England, playing in one of the biggest teams, and getting the exposure he does, Balotelli would strive to be a better man, any and every way he can. mellow.gif But no. From his episodes in the Inter shirt, to his ugly (albeit comedic) exploits in Manchester City, the only word I can associate with him is ungrateful. With his devil-may-care attitude, and lack of 100% effort during matches, he's just laying waste to his talents. To the point that no matter what he achieves, the question that what could have been will always pop up.

I'd hardly call myself a fan of either CRON/Messi, but at least they carry themselves as professionals. Any and all times (save for a few honest mistakes). With Balotelli, I'll just label his shenanigans as 'childish', nothing more nothing less. And for this reason alone, I wish he stays out of Milan, he'll just be a problem child here, what with the crisis we are having as a club.

If all the Italian league has to offer is a depleated Milan and a Juventus who bullies the rest of Serie A but is timid at best in Europe than I'd have to PAINFULLY agree with you.

It's so sad and disheartening to see what Serie A has become simply because of the Italian backwards mentality that plagues not only all the Italian clubs but the league federation as a whole as well.

I never really disliked him, even when he was at Inter. Their failures pre-calciopoli were funny, but he was never annoying when they were winning.

Does Mancio have Inter in his heart though? (I'm actually asking!)

IMO, if he ever agrees to join Milan, it means he doesn't. like Carlo who has always said he wouldn't coach Inter because of his Milan past.

Man City had a ref screw them vs Ajax

It was in the same group, so it's evened out the luck for City. Why are you even getting into this. unsure.gif

The biggest reason why City missed out on 5 points against Ajax is their extremely amatueristic way of defending corners.

Should look first at themselves. Then maybe more luck next time. Yaya Toure is lucky to not gotten red also can be told.

The 2nd one was a great run and header which is a little harder to defend. But that 1st goal is so pathetic. Nobody reacted to the 2nd ball at all, everyone in blue just stood there. laugh.gif
