I think it's time to move on and drop it. Everyone explained their position, no one is going to move an inch and it's just going around in circles.

You could look at in a different way though (not saying this is my opinion, just putting it out there). Pirlo was going nowhere with Inter. The club rescued him and put him alongside some of the best players in World football for a decade and gave him the opportunity to win. He then leaves and goes to Juve of all teams? For all we know he's gone to Juve for the same reason Leo went to Inter, to prove that the club made a mistake.

I don't see why there should be a problem with this debate, just don't get personal with each other.

Sure, but my problem is that at first the argument was that Pirlo was now cr@p, and when that didn't hold up it suddenly turned into a revenge mission.

Also I think Pirlo proved himself on the grandest of scales without the help of Milan by being a key figure for Italy in the WC, earning multiple MoM and other recognitions.

Pirlo never said anything bad about Milan, while he always wanted to remain in Italy. He wanted to move to a top club, so that leaves him with only our rivals as options, it's really not rocket science or some dark theory that people want to make up to make Pirlo look bad.

I'm not discussing personal opinions here. The way you talk about Ambrosini and Gattuso lacks something called 'being subtle'. This post I am quoting now is way more subtle than most of yours involving them.

And it does match my lack of respect to Pirlo easily.

I've seen you post stuf that practically compared Pirlo to cr@p and garbage, especially when his move went down. I've never said such things about Ambro and Rino. I've always drew a line because I actualy appriciate what they've given this team during their time at Milan. The worst I've said is probably that they're finished as players. How is that disrispectful? It's my oppinion of them at this point in time. I would love it if they stayed on at the club but not as squad players because I believe they've given us all they can in that capacity. I really don't see how this is disrispectful, I never bashed them or anything of the sort, while your blatant biased oppinion towards Pirlo just irks me to no end

Please show me some quotes, because I don't ever remember saying they're garbage.

I admitted that I never was a fan of Ambro's style and always preferred Rino over him in their hey days, but please show me where I said either was garbage.

Also saying they've played like cr@p and saying they're cr@p are 2 completely different things, so be careful of what you choose to quote wink.gif

Not to jump into anything sinister here (seeing as I respect both Ambro and Pirlo, at least after all they have done and won in our colors), but couldn't the same be attributed towards say both CHU and Dru? unsure.gif That they are/were not really fans of the "ridiculous sh!t" Pirlo pulled off. Particularly after 2007 onwards?

The Pirlo I remember of these last four years is a massive step down from the one in 2004-07. I remember equal amounts of barbie-doll tackles, falling down at the merest of touches, misplaced passes, and giving away the ball in the wrong area at the wrong time that resulted in goals, as I do creative strokes and master through balls. Both in Milan and NT. sad.gif Again, like I said, no disrespect intended, I would still have this Pirlo twice over than this Seedorf.

Unlike the Dutch, he still had something to offer, at least for another 3 years or more.

Fair enough. smile.gif As for being money hungry, that is something we will never know. The management does, though, as they were the ones that went into negotiations. Personally I believe something should have been worked out between both parties, something manageable to keep the guy tied to us for another couple of years at least.

Allegri, I am afraid, had more than a subtle part to play in all this, he and his system has little space for creative players. More so, here in Milan seeing as he was delivered a Swedish ninja gift-wrapped. dry.gif But to me, being an outsider looking in, the coach seems like a player that likes and wants to play swift, low-talented hacks than slow, creative maestros.

So yeah, there is the case of $$$ too, I can't believe it to be otherwise. Pirlo being filthy reach (family steel mills, anyone), earning the highest amount per year as an Italian player in the league (ahead of Totti and others), and things like that, and still both parties couldn't come to an arrangement. sad.gif Sad state of affair. And frankly, likewise I fail to believe Juve were the only option, Napoli, Roma and Lazio too are clubs of smaller stature that could have used a player with the talents like our former number 21. Particularly Napoli, seeing that they are in the CL. And Juve are not. In fact, they are not even in Europe this year, any tournament.

Point being, it was all a clusterfudge, and all three parties are to blame one way or another: player, coach, management.

He's gotten a considerable pay cut at Juve. The duration of the contract was the main issue, while the fact that Allegri would rather player Flamini, Rino, VB in a midfield then have Pirlo in there is also a huge factor.

Anyways, we'll see how this will really effect us if we end up not bringing anyone in this summer and we're stuck with that hard utility midfield that we have now

Agreed. sleep.gif It remains to be seen how teams react to our tactics now that they've seen it all. The second year is going to be a lot tougher than the first, for a coach's perspective as well as the team. Luckily, we got a few extra soldiers to help us out, Paloschi and the Pharaoh guy to Mexes and Taiwo.

Not the best we could get, not the worst either. wink.gif But totally agree, the lack of creativity in midfield is mind boggling.

Hmm, I don't get how those 2 could mean the same thing to you. One is directly bashing a person, the other is a personal oppinion on a player and his contribution to a team. And I'm 100% sure that I never crossed the line and blatantly bashed a player. So say they mean the same all you want but those 2 scenarios are completely different from each other

Saying that they're barely players anymore does not mean I'm saying they're cr@p. It's my oppinion after watching them struggle to keep up for the last few years. Saying they're cr@p players versus acknowledging their physical limits (which imo both have reached) are 2 completely different things, once again.

You however have made multiple arguments about Pirlo's intentions, from money to being a trator and comparing him to Kaka and Sheva which is just ridiculous as Pirlo's case is nothing close to either situation with those 2

And when those arguments didn't stand up you said that Pirlo was basically cr@p and completely ruined our entire system thus it was a great decision to not renew with him

I believe Pirlo did something way worse than Kaká. And I even start to respect Sheva a little more now after Pirlo's departure. At least Sheva had heart and spirit, and worked his *** off, every second playing for Milan. I'm not too keen about Pirlo when it comes to that. And if one of these players is a traitor, it's Pirlo. I can't see how Kaká can be seen as a traitor. At least Kaká and Sheva didn't join a domestic rival.

Pirlo left Milan for a domestic rival, just because he can't be guaranteed a starting spot. He wanted that guarantuee which is ridiculous in my opinion. That's should be earned, not given. And to match his ego, he also wanted to earn more than Milan wanted to give him. Also he wanted more than just 1 season on his contract. The others accepted that, but no, Pirlo not. Good riddance though, and thank you, Allegri.

Andrea Pirlo led Serie A in the 2002–03 season in four special categories, passes played (2589), ball possession (123 hours played and 39 minutes), successful balls (661) and successful passes (2093). This implies that he averaged almost 90 passes per game. He led Milan in minutes played for the 2006–07 season with 2,782.

The San Siro applauded Pirlo throughout on Sunday. So clearly most fans still love Pirlo and continue to do so. Only some who have some other agendas try to drag his name through the mud.

Silvio admitted last Sunday that they didn't renew Pirlo's contract due to the length he requested

Let's move on...

I think I need to clear up a few things here before I get the rep of being nothing more than an attention whoring troll:

1) I'd prefer to not talk about me even though the Pirlo fans, having absolutely no answer for my complaints about him, prefer to attempt to personally attack my character. Kindly leave other issues from other forums out. Yeah I got banned for three months from R&B for making a JOKE about Pirlo a Juve player. The same forum that allows nudity, political discussions and racism to go free. The same forum that not too long ago voted me "nicest poster" and "best poster" etc. There is an "in" crowd that praises every shiny lock on Pirlo's head on R&B and I happen to be at odds with them. Please leave it alone.

2) Pirlo has essentially done worse things on an ethical scale than either Leo or Kaka. Yet he remains forever shielded from any sort of criticism. This irks me more than anything else to be honest. How could he still be a "freekick maestro" after not scoring one since in over two years? How could he be a long ball expert after being utterly useless at them for LARGE parts of his career. Yet there are fans who would DARE put him level with Xavi and Iniesta....even more ridiculously with Zidane and Ronaldinho. Forget best player, to me Pirlo was never even Milan's best midfielder. Gattuso, Rui Costa, Seedorf and even Ambro have all been better at one stage or the other and for the stretches Pirlo was better there was always one in our midfield better than him. We haven't even mentioned Kaka who one best mid one year and then best striker the next. Seedorf won best mid in the CL too. Gattuso was also nominated. But not even leaving Milan for our BIGGEST DOMESTIC RIVAL can upset someone

3) In a footballing scale he was a truly decent player but not half as good imho as his fans insisted he was. His talents were magnificiently exploited by Ancelotti and his weaknesses were covered by his supporting cast. As these diminished his entire game took an absolute nosedive. He was always slow, weak and made numerous backpasses that put the defense under threat. In the latter stages of his career he was borderline useless. Last season he looked a bit better with iBra's ability to make efficient use of his good long passes...but when he got injured he engineered his move to Juve (by his own admission) but told the fans that staying at Milan was his first priority and he is mysteriously given a free pass. So please forgive me for having a problem with it.

So, initially you question his long pass ability, then you admit that his long passes are good? Please... You deem Pirlo as worthless, as a piece of junk, as a burden to this team, but to me he was one of the best midfielders of the last decade. He started losing his touch after we won our last Champions League, but it's not like our team as a whole was doing any better. Even Kaka' was not the same before we sold him. Personally, I think cutting Pirlo loose was a step forward to adopting a new way of playing where we wouldn't be dependent on him like we've been in the past. But I could never, and I mean never forget the emotions that man has given to me as a Milan fan for all those years. When Pirlo hit his peak (2002-2007), the guy was a monster, a true maestro of football. I dare you imply otherwise!

How could he be a long ball expert after being utterly useless at them for LARGE parts of his career.
i.e. I've seen MANY MANY games where the VAST majority of Pirlo's long balls go to no one in particular. The free kicks dropped off worse too.

I'm not saying that he wasn't excellent at them ONCE. Neither would I be so silly as to suggest that he is a bad passer now. But the term maestro implies a master at something. Maestro's get old but their ability doesn't suddenly disappear as post '07 Pirlo's free kick ability. For instance, strikers like Ronaldo and Inzaghi could weigh a ton or be a zillion years old but would still retain their exceptional finishing and striker instincts. They were true MASTERS of their trade. Zidane is still a pretty good dribbler and can still confuse any marker...just how I see it.

Pirlo was simply a technically gifted midfielder with above-average vision and was in good passing/free kick form for

I will agree to disagree about him being a "maestro" for my viewpoint outlined above. When I think of Maestros in midfield I think about Riquelme, ZZ, Ronaldinho, Kaká, Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta Seedorf, Valderrama, Hagi etc. Granted not all are exactly the same type of player (regista I think it's called in Italian) but they all had the same basic duty to supply the attack with opportunities. Granted a pure CM has more defensive work, which let's face it, Pirlo was never good at.

It's no coincidence that with Gattuso out injured (Leo era), Pirlo looked utterly useless in Milan. It's no coinciednce tha Allegri has tossed such a ridiculously over specialized player from our team, preferring s player who can help on many fronts.

Pirlo: 'Italy like Ancelotti's Milan'
Andrea Pirlo believes Italy’s style is closer to Carlo Ancelotti’s Milan than Barcelona. “We can entertain fans with quality.”

Cesare Prandelli had said he was trying to adopt Barcelona’s approach with a 4-3-1-2 system and rapid passing, which proved effective when beating world and European champions Spain 2-1 in a recent friendly.

“We are a good side who try to play the ball at all times. Our quality, especially in midfield, allows us to entertain the fans with a fast-paced and attacking style,” said Pirlo.

“Barcelona are the ultimate right now, as they are unbeatable and wonderful to watch. In my view, though, our characteristics are closer to Ancelotti’s Milan than the Spaniards.

“I feel in good shape now too and am happy to be a part of this new project.”

Italy continue their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign against the Faroe Islands on Friday, then welcome Slovenia.

Pirlo has now left Milan to start again at Juventus, but is reunited with old Rossoneri teammate Antonio Cassano in the Italy squad.

“Antonio is so eager to play football and have fun, so I can see he’s in a good place. His behaviour has improved and paternity gave him a more relaxed approach. He’s getting better all the time.

“As for Juventus, our objectives are to win something and qualify for the Champions League,” continued Pirlo.

“Milan and Inter still have something more than the rest of the pack, but we’ll try to make up for that gap on the field.

“I was no longer motivated at Milan, as for months I felt the urge to try a new experience. Juventus are taking a step in the right direction to improve Serie A, starting from their wonderful new club-owned stadium.”

Any reason for the largely sized text in red?

I doubt it's anything that surprising to be honest.
