Reported Chelsea Target Andrea Pirlo has intimated that he will not be leaving Serie A giants Milan during the close-season.

It has been speculated that newly appointed Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to take the 30-year-old with him from the San Siro to Stamford Bridge.

However, Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani has insisted that the Italy international is not for sale, and the midfielder appears to have quashed talk that he could by plying his trade in the Premier League for the 2009/10 campaign.

"It is sorry for everyone that Ancelotti went, but it was natural that after so much time he wanted a new experience," Pirlo told the Italian press.

"Now I will join up with the national team, the rest we will see.

"My English? Ancelotti speaks it better! I, however, am happy at Milan."

Pirlo has given a long interview (text of the Italian below; don't have time to translate today, english version prolly up later today on acmilan.com).

MILAN - 'Today is a great day, I'm very happy to be able to end my career here. This is thanks to president Silvio Berlusconi, Adriano Galliani and Leonardo who have given me the possibility to end my career here by taking me off the market. When they communicated this news to me we were all happy, finally this story ends and I can continue my adventure with the Rossoneri.'

'There was a possibility of changing teams but in the end the club and I agreed to continue together and we're all happier. It was an eventful summer with many doubts but in the end my family are happy to stay in Milan.'

'This year after Maldini's goodbye and the loss of a very important player (Kaká) we're all more responsible. Milan's history must continue to be winning. Us older players must take more responsibility and give everyone great satisfactions. The President has talked to us and he wants the story to continue so we restart with great enthusiasm.'
'We came back to train here at Milanello. It wasn't a positive tour, but it was predictable because when you play every three days and travel around all the time... but our objective was to come to Milanello to start preparing for the season ahead. We're also ready for the derby. Beginning well would be a sending a signal to everyone.'
'Leonardo is a very good person and he will show in time he is a great coach thanks to everyone's help because he deserves it and we will certainly reap the benefits. The club will buy a great striker, we know who it is but we can't say it (laughs). That will give us a hand to win. On 17 August there will be the Berlusconi Trophy, we expect many people to be there to start the new season together.'

i think milan really need to cash in on pirlo at this age. any offer above 20 million euro plus zhirkov on loan with auction to sign him permanetly for the price they bought him. then milan can invest on fabregas with the money. kaladze, oddo, favalli, and kalac should leave the team. mexes and criscito will be good addition to the team, zhirkov is perfect to replace janku.

Well , I'm new here , so I don't know what do you think about Pirlo , but my opinion is that Pirlo Is best Midfielder , also with best technique in world.
Tennie
I think that when he's on form and playing well, he's certainly one of the best. The problem is that he has not been in really good form for a while.

That's because it shouldn't be his job to stop attacks of enemies.
He is playmaker.
If we would play with this formation :
-----------------------------------Abbiati
------------------Nesta---------Onyewu--------Th.Silva
-------------Abate-------------Gattuso----------------Flamini
------------------------------------Pirlo
---------------------Pato-------------------------Ronaldinho
-----------------------------------Huntelar

all players would be more effective.
Abate and Flamini could take care of right and left side , gattuso on center , Pirlo would make the game.

Could work. I don't remember Pirlo being massively successful as an attacking mid, but Football isn't always as clear cut as that is it.

However, I think there's more chance of me becoming Milan's coach than us actually seeing that formation in practice.

Well in that formation Pirlo is Center Midfielder , not Attacking midfield , but if you can remember , Pirlo also has played as attacking midfielder .

Why ?
Thats his "natural" position.
He has defending skills .
And he's not a left defender in this formation smile.gif.
Thanks

P.S. Guys please don't be offended if I reply in every post :$.
Dracoris
I really like that formation to be honest. It wouldn't usually work, but Milan is an unusual team currently and I would love to see something this creative make it atleast on the practice pitch.

With the 3 at the back, Flamini and Abate would have to account for some defensive work down the flanks. One of his main reasons for quitting the Gunners was he was sick and tired of being too defensive. He's a box-to-box player and a very good one at that.

No..that would be Lampard or Essien. The best box-to-box would be dst's scouse boyfriend.

I think Flamini would be used the way Rino was used in the original Carlo team with Rui. He'd start from the flanks and then work his way into the centre, depending on the situation. Basically a free roaming DM.

But you're right, his forward play is very important, which is why my 3-5-2 must be played.

When it comes to Flamini, I don't understand why Leo does not try to play him like an LB or RB. Because with Pirlo, Ambro and Rino we have quality in our midfield enough to balance our gameplay. On the other hand Janku is playing so badly right no, and we have so little options left, I think even a dispositioned Flamini would do much better.

About Pirlo - I expect more of him, and soon. It's been quite some time since I've seen a good performance from Pirlo, especially against big teams. And it's becoming very annoying to me. I allways admired Pirlo, but one has to stick with it's principals - one of mine is that quality is mostly proven with time - only the best players, like Kaka, Maldini or Beckenbauer last and maintain their heigh level of performances.

You mean Leo has to play Rino, Ambro and Flamini in one lineup? biggrin.gif wouldn't that be too Carlo-ish?

Nope, I don't mean that. I just mean that those players are mostly at their best. Especially Ambro.

This is what Trilli Campanellino commented on several aspects of the match, but when asked of Kaka, this was his reply: "Kaka? It was nice meeting him again, but it was especially nice beating him (he smiles warmly), better like this, we are happy like this. Ricky is now there, he’s happy in his new reality and it sincerely pleases us, but now we have our path." acmilan.com

Excuse my ignorance but who is Trilli Campanellino and what's he got to do with Pirlo? unsure.gif

haha! not that you should know this but it's Pirlo's nickname and the Italian name of a certain Disney's fairy.

servbot
Pirlo's nickname is the same as the name of Tinkerbell in Italian?

That's rather disturbing.

Still, that goal was incredible. Seems Pato is getting most of the attention because he scored twice, but Pirlo's surprise attack was the momentum changer.

Really? why didn't I know that...
dst
I've rarely stumbled upon it too and it probably was in an Italian article, it's not well known outside of Italy.
Jack Sparrow
He's called Tinkerbell and Metronome. THough the latter was him inheriting Albertini's tag I guess. biggrin.gif

I dunno why. Before anybody brings up the idea of him being a 'fairy' and thereby incurring my wrath...I'd think it's coz of the magic he puts out...or used to. And that it's so relaxed and petite and pretty...not a lot of effort and athletic prowess.
dst
I heard fairies live in his hair.
Jack Sparrow
Sorry. This couldn't wait ! biggrin.gif I miss him. sad.gif

It's his deadpan expression that gets me! (critics like to bash on it..'he plays like he doesn't care'). laugh.gif

He's probably got the best 'Whatever dude!' expression among all footballers.

It's either faked or it took lots of tries. If Pirlo could do that on the whim, we would have scored a lot of free kicks this year.

Maybe I'm naive but I think it's real. If it was an ad then I would not say so. He surely can hit the bar once and maybe they filmed him more than one time but if he can do it once he can do it six out of ten I think.
han2503
It's a whole different thing when he's doing that in the training ground, he doesn't have a wall or goalkeeper to worry about and he's putting the ball were he wants to. I think its real. If we're talking about the Ronaldinho Nike ad then, yes, that is fake but I don't think this one is

I agree. I dont think that the Pirlo video was faked. With no other factors to take into account, Pirlo can place the ball where he likes at will
