Both goals (I think) by Verdi.

The primavera drew today with empoli 1-1 in the second leg of the primavera coppa semi. They go through on aggregate (the first game was a 2-0 win) and will face the winner of palermo-gobbi in the final.

At least one of our teams is doing well in a competition.
Is Verdi really that good? He seems to be one of the stars for the Primavera

He's highly rated and seems to be scoring regularly. Can't comment other than that; haven't seen him play a full game and youtube clips can be misleading.

Nah, Albertazzi is still with the primavera. Darmian's on loan.
DeVito is a fullback who I at least think didn't totally suck when he played in our coppa game.

I wasn't that impressed.
The last player from our primavera that really impressed me was Albertazzi tbh. It was a friendly againt Napoli.
Verdi also impressed for the few minutes he was on in the Coppa this season, he impressed me more in the 15 minutes that he was on then the over-rated Di Gennaro, who couldn't even control the simplest of balls.
Abate and Antonini were winners imo, that one is not...

Slightly off topic, but I downloaded the new FIFA 10 Squads for the winter transfer list, and Verdi was included so he is now a selectable player. I think his OVR is like 64 though lol.

Typical FIFA, the young unkowns are usually in the 60s range, maybe a 70 if they're lucky

So the first leg of the Primavera coppa just ended: FT Boys in Pink 1-1 Milan
Milan goal by Zigoni.
The primavera keeper, Donnarumma, took down a Palermo kid in the area (with a clear shot on goal). The kid had to be stretchered off. Donnarumma got a straight red, but the replacement keeper, Perucchini, saved the resulting penalty.

EVERYONE AT SAN SIRO!
The wait for second leg final of the Primavera Tim Cup between Milan and Palermo is growing. It will be played on Wednesday 14 April at 20.00. The warmth of the fans will be fundamental to spur on Giovanni Stroppa's lads.
MILAN - The moment of truth is coming. On Wednesday 14 April Milan and Palermo will play the Primavera Tim Cup final at San Siro.
The first leg at the Renzo Barbera the match finished 1-1 with Zigoni scoring for the Rossoneri. A balanced match which saw the two teams playing with personality and openness.
Now for Giovanni Stroppa's lads there is a unique chance, to lift a trophy in the air at San Siro which has been missing since the 84-85 season. Back then lads like Maldini, Costacurta, Giunta and Lorenzini won this prestigious trophy.
The wait, it's pointless to say, is great. The whole club is hoping that the pitch factor will push the players to victory, and that the fantastic San Siro stadium will charge up the young Rossoneri lads.
On a very important stage, it's therefore the club's desire to count strongly on the youth sector. For many lads it will be a dream come true. For the whole Rossoneri family it will be a party evening to experience together, from the Pulcini to the First Team, all of whom will want to give their support to the young Rossoneri.
So a great performance will be needed, but especially the support of a numerous crowd and full of enthusiasm to support our young champions together! Don't miss out!
So let's see if this year's lot can do something that was last done by a couple of immortals.
The game's going to be on Sky Italia if anyone can get feeds from there.

What displeases me, is the starling lack of technical ability shown by the primavera we have seen. Di Gennaro was supposedly the most talented one of the whole lot, and he's sucked pretty badly. Not one sign of magic. Verdi shows a lot of application, but again no magic!

Hee hee. Yep, at least they're keeping that word the same. If they really go native and only use Italian, it's usually 'rete'. (there's an italian lexicon in the 'other' section).
We seem to be having the best of the chances so far -- defense having no real problems clearing the occasional Palermo attack and De Vito getting in a couple of good crosses. fyi Albertazzi is playing in the middle.
The stadium isn't full (no big surprise there) but there do seem to be at least SOME folks there including a decent contingent from the curva.

Just for the record, it was FT 2-0 for Milan.
And also for the record, the last time we won the Primavera coppa, Maldini and Costacurta (as stated above) were in defense and the coach was a young Fabio Capello.
Perhaps it's a good omen.

Apr 15 2010, 01:18 AM
The primavera coach is Giovanni Stroppa who was actually a teenaged player along with Maldini and Costacurta last go round.

In his playing days, Stroppa was an attacking mid and was part of Sacchi's Milan and then, after a couple of years away, played another year at Milan under Capello.
