Ronnie eager to impress

Milan striking star Ronaldo insists that he wants to earn a new contract with the Rossoneri after making his long-awaited return yesterday.

El Fenomeno made his first appearance of the season in Cagliari after a frustrating period on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

There was little sign of rustiness from Ronnie as he struck the post and was brought down for a penalty, but he believes he has much more to do if he is to renew his contract, which currently expires in June.

“I’m going to try and impress this year to win the trust of the club,” the Selecao marksman told Sky Sport Italia.

“I want to earn things for myself and at the moment I haven’t deserved an extension.

“If I manage to impress then I don’t see there being problems in negotiations with the club at the end of the season, but I need to get stuck in as I don’t want anything gifted to me.”

Maybe now our management will understand that they can't count on Ronaldo as main player who can carry the team for a long time. But as quality addition that sometimes can make a difference.

@misha: I'm agreeing with you here. It's one thing to get injured in a match or training, but to get injured when you're warming up??!!

If R99 was reliably fit, we really wouldn't need another player in that position. But it looks like we will need one pretty soon, and play R99 like we play Pippo. sad.gif Darn, I hate bloated line ups.

If I were R99 I'd ask for a pay cut. This is crazy.

Why is every Brazillian we buy from Spain jinxed.

Rivaldo, Oliveira and now R99.

Ronaldo: I want injury answers

Ronaldo admits he has run out of patience following his latest mystery injury. “We’re all looking for answers now.”

The Milan star was warming up to come on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Benfica on Wednesday when he pulled up with a new calf problem that has ruled him out of this weekend’s clash with Juventus.

“We are all looking for answers now,” confessed Ronaldo when asked by Sky Italia television what could be causing this succession of setbacks.

“We want to understand what is behind this injury, as there are answers to our questions about our work and how we continue. We are always looking for the best possible option.”

Il Fenomeno has so far made just one official appearance for his club this season, in last week’s 2-1 win away to Cagliari.

“I was unlucky in Lisbon because I went to warm up and after 10 minutes the fitness Coach told me I was about to come on,” he explained.

“So I started rushing through my routine and I got a little pull in my left calf muscle. I decided not to risk it, as to go on could’ve meant a very serious injury.”

Ronaldo has barely set foot on a pitch in the last six months, but won’t let these repeated setbacks get him down.

“When I am on the field, training or playing, then I am happy. When I’m injured and in the stands I don’t lose my good humour, although clearly I can’t celebrate either.”

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have only two strikers at their disposal for Saturday’s Serie A showdown with Juventus – Alberto Gilardino and Pippo Inzaghi – so awaiting teenager Alexandre Pato’s official registration in January, options are limited.

It is reported that Ronaldo’s latest injury has pushed the club to look for a reinforcement during the mid-season transfer window.

The prime target is Palermo’s Brazilian forward Amauri, who would be available for around £12m.

There were reports early this morning in Italy that Ronie was going to return to Brazil, that he was going to play in MLS next year, etc etc etc.

Then there was this in the breaking news section of acmilan.com's italian page:

Ronaldo ha risposto così ai cronisti che gli chiedevano un commento sulla sua situazione al termine della semifinale del Mondiale per club: 'Sono dispiaciuto di stare fermo, ho già perso due finali e ho avuto due infortuni che non ci aspettavamo. Spero di riprendere il più in fretta possibile per dare qualcosa in più e ripagare l'affetto che questa squadra mi dà'.

[Ronaldo responded to journalists who asked him to comment on his situation after the game: 'I'm unhappy to be injured, I've already lost two finals and have had two unexpected injuries. I hope to return as quickly as possible to give something more and to repay the affection this team has given me.']

In an interview to RadioRai ... Ronaldo talked about the final of the Club World Cup ..

He talked about his future at Milan and said: "My future is bound to my fitness, I wont stay unless I am at my best. This is the best club in the world, and only if you are at your best do you play for it. So I have to work hard to deserve to stay here."

He watched the final from the VIP stands and commented on Kaka' : "From now on Kaka' is the phenomeno, not me."

He also added that he is feeling fine and that his problems were not physically, more so it is a problem that needs time to heal.

Ronaldo Back In Brazil As Galliani Rules Out Fenerbahce

Adriano Galliani has reassured the fans that Ronaldo will not leave the club in January despite speculation that he could be sold following a trip to Brazil.

The Milan Vice President categorically rebuffed the claims that the former Barcelona and Real Madrid striker is on his way out of the club, despite playing just one game in the past six months.

According to reports, Ronaldo - who has returned to Brazil once again - is considering a move to join compatriot Roberto Carlos in Turkey.

"Have Fenerbahce made an offer? No, Ronaldo has already left for Brazil because he was not able to recover in time for the derby, but he will definitely remain with us until June," Galliani confirmed.

“It was the best solution for him to go home because he was struggling to recover. He will be back with us for January 2 when we travel to Dubai and I'm hoping that we can still extend his contract."

Second Half Of The Season

Milan are hoping that Ronaldo can repeat what he did last season when he joined the Rossoneri in January and made an immediate impact by scoring several vital goals to help the team move up the table.

"Let's hope that he can be fine like last year, when he scored various number of goals in the second part of the season," Galliani added.

“Are the problems psychological? Possibly that’s an element because he has only played one game in six months. But in reality it is a physical thing as he had a thigh problem and now a calf injury.”

RONALDO UNDERGOES PHYSIO IN BRAZIL

On Thursday morning, Ronaldo arrived at Rio de Janeiro’s Jacarepaguá airport and headed straight for a consultation with his trusted physiotherapist Bruno Mazziotti. The AC Milan footballer then agreed a programme designed to aid his recovery from a slight strain to his left calf muscle.

“It’s very important to clarify that Ronaldo has not picked up an injury. It’s just a small strain,” Mazziotti told Fobazo.

On Thursday afternoon, the Phenomenon began his bid to return to action with some physiotherapy, work with weights and a session on the exercise bike. He will then continue the same routine on a regular basis, undergoing two daily sessions, seven days a week.

Yes, but back then we did not had so much problems in the midfield. Redondo was a brilliant player, but we had others to do his job.

Milan will never get rid of him in that kind of style:

A. Maybe Real or Barca would, as they allways do (Beppe Guardiola, Sergi, etc.), but Milan never. We have class

B. We don't need the money

C. At the moment, noone would by him out

D. Eventually he will come back and help.

Ronaldo Set For Milan Exit

Milan forward Ronaldo will not sign a new deal with the club, according to the latest transfer speculation, as he is looking for a move to either USA or Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo's adventure with the Rossoneri is set to end in June along with his current contract.

With a mere six months remaining on his deal, so far neither party has approached the other for the negotiation of a new deal.

General manager Adriano Galliani had declared in previous days that there was no problem with the player, but Ronaldo seems to have lost interest in remaining at Milan.

Instead, rumour has it that he will look for a lucrative final offer in his career to play in the MLS or in Saudi Arabia, as his agents have already starting negotiating with some teams.

His most likely destination would be the Los Angeles Galaxy, where his former team-mate David Beckham would welcome him with arms wide open, but that is not the only team requesting his services.

Ronaldo's future will most likely be decided in January as Milan will want to know where they stand before going in the transfer market to search for a new attacker.

Its highly unlikely that Ronaldo will be forced out in january. We have enough strike force problems as it is, and cant afford to loose anyone.

Ronaldo Not Moving To Flamengo – Bronzetti

The injury-plagued Brazilian is believed to be on his way out of San Siro as he has played just once this season due to injury problems.

With the 31-year-old’s contract running out at the end of the season, a renewal is currently looking very unlikely.

Flamengo stated earlier in the week that they were in discussions to bring Ronaldo to the club, claims that were categorically rejected by Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani.

“Adriano Galliani has told the truth,” Bronzetti claimed.

“There have been no negotiations or meetings between Milan and Flamengo.”

Ronaldo has not played in the Brazilian league since 1994, when he left Cruzeiro after just one season to join PSV Eindhoven.

He has since represented European giants Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid before his move to Milan in January of this year.

After a fine end to last season, El Fenomeno’s notorious injury problems have come back to haunt him this campaign, and it still remains to be seen if he has a long-term future in Italy’s fashion capital.

Ronaldo 'ready' for Milan return

Ronaldo is on the road to recovery and will train with Milan in Dubai from January 2, insists his doctor.

Il Fenomeno has been in Brazil for most of this month to undergo specialist treatment with Selecao consultant Jose Luis Runco in a bid to solve an injury crisis that has seen him make just one appearance since July 31.

“He had a first grade calf strain, but now it is healed and we are in the final phase of physiotherapy,” noted Runco.

“On January 2 he will be in Dubai to train alongside the other Milan players.”

This is reassuring news for the Rossoneri, who feared having to bring in another striker during the January transfer window to replace Ronaldo.

There had even been talk of an extended stay in Brazil with Flamengo so that he could rediscover his form.

Milan will begin a special mid-season training camp in Dubai on January 2 to prepare for the rest of the campaign in the best possible physical condition.

They had a similar routine last year and, after a poor start, went on to win the Champions League and finish in the top four of Serie A.

This camp will also see Alexandre Pato join the team for the first time, as he will be eligible to play in official competition from 2008. smile.gif

Flamengo: Ronaldo wants us Monday 31 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flamengo insist Ronaldo wants to join them in January, but that he must buy his way out of the Milan contract first.

Despite several denials of these reports, the Brazilian club continue to maintain an agreement has been reached.

“The interest is reciprocal,” explained Flamengo President Kleber Leite. “I have already spoken to Ronie, he wants to play for Flamengo. In two weeks we will present a final offer.”

The fact the Rossoneri have announced they won’t negotiate a transfer does not seem to pose a problem with Leite.

“We have nothing to say to Milan, we won’t negotiate with them,” he told ‘Estado do Sao Paolo.’

“It is up to Ronaldo to buy out his contract and conclude his deal with Milan. Our project is for him to sign with us until 2010 and after the end of his career become ambassador for Flamengo, primarily in charity events in favour of children.”

Ronaldo is currently in Brazil to continue treatment on a mysterious calf injury that has seen him make just one appearance since July 31.

Medical staff assured he would be back in Milan’s ranks from January 2, but Flamengo have other ideas.

“We will not go crazy,” added director of marketing Ricardo Hinrichsen. “We will pay Ronaldo figures that reflect the reality of our football.

“The difference between our wages and what he currently receives at Milan will be compensated by the ownership of his image rights. Just having his name would guarantee us a return far superior to our investment.”

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti will have FOUR top-class strikers available to him for their next Serie A contest against Napoli.

Pippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino will be joined by young Brazilian Alexandre Pato and fit-again Ronaldo, who yesterday completed a full day's training for the first time this season in Dubai.

Indeed, Ronaldo also scored his first goal for 2008, finding the back of the net in a bounce game.
