RONALDO TRAINING WITH TOGNACCINI IN BRAZIL
7/2/2007
MILAN - Milan fitness coach Daniele Tognaccini arrived in Rio De Janeiro today to start working with Ronaldo. The Brazilian champion will undergo specific pre-preparation work to arrive in top form by the time he meets Milan for the training retreat on July 23. Ronaldo and Tognaccini are training right now. Tognaccini will stay in Brazil for the entire first week of Ronaldo's training.

I’M RONALDO AND I’M HAPPY @acmilan

February, in the press conference during his official presentation to Milan, Ronaldo declared: “I want to prove that my story is not over.” And he proved this. Today he declared: “I will return the world’s number one…”

RONALDO TO THE GAZZETTA DELLO SPORT:
“Ricky does not need any suggestions: he knows well enough that he is in the great club in the world and that Milan gave him everything. In New York, I dined with him, we did not gon into detail about the Real Madrid offers, but he told me that he will be loyal to Milan. He’s calm and even I am: I don’t think that he will change. I started following Pato last year during the World Club Cup against Barcelona, he’s still very young, but he does amazing tricks and has great potential: he will have an incredible career. The atmosphere at Milanello would do well to Adriano, there everyone help each other and collaborate. I often talk with Adriano, we’re good friends. I know that he has problems, but I cannot discuss them publicly. If he decides to come to Milan, he will surely be welcome. I admired Inzaghi, but never envied him. Even he suffered a lot in the past and he was able to return to high levels. Just like I am trying to do. And then the triumph in Athens was not only of Inzaghi, but of the entire group which was exceptional. It would be nice to arrive to the Moscow Final, but I only do a step at a time. Now he will start laughing, but today my objective is that of making the best summer training camp of my life. Only this way I will return to be the world’s number one. Now I will give my best to my club. Milan has given me back the happiness and maybe they cannot even understand the good that this did to me. I don’t forget this.”

RONALDO TO THE CORRIERE DELLA SERA:
“I’m in a unique moment of my career. I owe everything to the club, it was a great bet which went well, both theirs and mine, and I want to be ready for the training camp. It will be the best one of my career. I never had 50 straight days of holidays since I’ve been playing football. Milan already has the strongest attack in the world, already this way. The atmosphere at Milan is fantastic, I never found myself so well. The arrival of Tognaccini here in Rio was an offer which I accepted straight away, not an imposition. It’s too early to talk about the contract’s renewal. I can only repay Milan with many goals and wins. I repeat: it was a bet which we all won together.”

The transfer of Ronaldo turned out extremely good. Apart from being unhappy at real madrid, he was overweight and had no desire to play. It was like no one cared about him anymore and he was not that badly needed in the attack of madrid. He comes to milan, instead of Arab club or usa. That means alot! I mean he dodged the big money to be able to restart his career. This shows he's a man that cares more for football than money and it shows that he wants to leave his name in good books instead of some fat shlob sitting in madrid bathing in money. Ronaldo, his passion is still there, and his desire to relive the phenomenon name hasn't disappeared. Milan had a gamble aswell because they had to try very very hard to make him fit. We had to be a club that treated him well emotionally and as well we had to have dependence on him in order for him to reach motivation. I look at it this way, he comes here and he sees that Shevchenko's departure has left somewhat of a permanent scar for many people in milan including the players. Thats where his motivation came into play since gila is a joke in serie A, he knew that he had no choice but to play well and score. A long round of applause to our fitness trainers at milanlab for they can truly do anything. A huge gamble on both parts and it turned out great.

I"m very happy for ronnie, i hope he has the best season of his career.

Calderon: "We Won La Liga Because Ronaldo Left"

In yet another controversial proclamation, Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon turned his steely gaze towards former Madrid striker Ronaldo. The Bernabeu supremo claims that Ronaldo was a bad influence that Los Merengues were better off without...

In an astonishing attack, Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon lambasted Ronaldo, his former striker, partially blaming the Brazilian for Madrid's discord in the first half of the season.

Speaking of the departed forward, Calderon grimaced to El Pais, "How much did the decision to sell him influence Real’s title win? A lot."

He ranted on, "It was vital that we recovered the habit of hard work and sacrifice – and Ronaldo didn't collaborate. I've enjoyed watching him, but we had to change the atmosphere in the dressing room and he wasn't helping."

Ronaldo's five-year tenure indeed ended in January when he was offloaded to Milan after starting just two games in the first half of the season. Since then, he's scored 7 in 14 league games for the Rossoneri. Madrid, meanwhile, won the title on the last day of the season after a remarkable run of form.

Can a president of such a prestigious club go any lower ?!

I think, if there is any reason Ricky would want to go, he just changed his mind! You would never see people like Berlusconi come out and say, "we won the 7th cup, because shevchenko left us.." Not cuz it is unapropriate, but cuz he has nothing to do with Milan winning the cup, as Ronaldo has nothing to do with Madrid winning the title.

If there is anyone responsible for Madrid winning, it is Capello rolleyes.gif Still, Calderon fires him .. Well, I think Calderon's days in the Madrid heirarchy are numbered; fale hope and lies get u nowhere cool.gif (unless ur Fox news tongue.gif laugh.gif )

There's an article in the Saturday print edition of Gazzetta (page 5). I haven't seen an online version of the article but can type out the Italian if anyone is really interested.

The doctors at Milan Lab have diagnosed Ronaldo with Hypothyroidism. They say that this is the reason why his weight isn't dropping despite the fact that he isn't eating much. He's been diagnosed medication to correct the imbalance and should, according to the article, be fine.

Ronaldo: Let Capello Say What He Wants

Ronaldo hasn't quite forgiven Fabio Capello for his recent faint praise. The AC Milan striker publicly clashed with the Italian coach while the pair were at Real Madrid, and even with Capello's recent declarations about Ronaldo's talent, the Brazilian striker remains aggrieved...

Ronaldo still hasn't forgiven Fabio Capello for accusations of unprofessionalism.

The former Madrid coach was recently quoted as saying, "Ronaldo was not a good example in training. And for me, training is sacred."

But he has also said, "Ronaldo is the greatest soccer player that I have ever trained in my life."

So, there was praise and scorn for the controversial Brazilian forward. Ronaldo, though, refused to accept what he saw as a contradiction from the 'Don.'

"Sometimes he says that I'm the best player he's ever worked with, and other times he says that I'm not so good and don't show persistence," blasted the AC Milan forward.

"I do not know... let's leave the 'great one' behind," he added.

Ronaldo's departure from Real Madrid, ending a near-five year connection with the Bernabeu club, came around this January partially thanks to his frosty relationship with Capello.

Capello himself was to follow Ronaldo out the exit door a few months later as he was sacked in the close-season by Madrid president Ramon Calderon.

The 'Don' now works as a co-commentator for RAI television, while Ronaldo is expected to play a major role in Milan's bid to win the Serie A title, not to mention their defence of the Champions League.

Everybody accused him to lead a not very professional life because of his not really athletic form, it seems, instead, that the weight problems of Brazilian champion Ronaldo are due to hypothyroidism. It was detected by the AC Milan medical staff that made the 2006 Golden Foot winner start a pharmacological treatment straightaway. In few days the treatment proved to be effective as Ronaldo has soon lost 5 kilos ohmy.gif and kept on training while waiting for his forthcoming return to the pitch after the physical troubles that delayed his debut in the current season. In particular, AC Milan would like him to play the Champions League, a tournament that Ronaldo could not play with the Rossoneri, who eventually won it, because in 2005 he had already entered the pitch with Real Madrid CF during some Champions League matches.

What's Ronaldo's actual injury at the moment? Or is it just a lack of match fitness right now? Or the weight thing?

Ronnie doctor blasts Milan

Ronaldo’s personal physiotherapist has called Milan’s treatment of Il Fenomeno’s thigh injury into question.

The Brazilian star has been struggling with a mystery injury since the end of July and has been frustrated to see his recovery date pushed back in recent weeks.

While Milan’s doctors insist that the ex-Real Madrid star still has full faith in the club’s medics, his decision to return home to see another specialist suggests otherwise and the new expert was crictical of the Rossoneri’s efforts.

“We think that the treatment Milan gave him wasn’t the correct course of action,” Bruno Mazziotti told Globo Esporte.

“Ronaldo came back here because he wanted to hear the opinion of people he trusts, like me and Selecao doctor Jose Luis Runco.”

The 30-year-old marksman is still scheduled to return to Serie A action for the Diavolo’s trip to Siena on September 15.

Ronnie needs Rio therapy

Ronaldo will be sidelined for at least two weeks after medics in Brazil warned him that Milan had been giving him the wrong treatment.

Il Fenomeno has been out of action since suffering a muscular problem in August and was told this week by Professor Maertens that he would be able to play against Siena on September 15.

However, after that trip to Antwerp he flew out to Brazil for a meeting with Selecao medic Jose Luis Runco.

It is reported he found a lesion on Ronaldo’s knee and ordered a two-week break from football.

“We will apply a treatment we call Growth Factor,” revealed Runco in ‘O Globo.’ “He should stay in Rio for at least a week.”

Ronaldo’s personal physiotherapist Bruno Mazziotti is also in Brazil with the Milan striker.

This is a tough blow, particularly with the Champions League about to kick off with the Group D opener against Benfica on September 18.

Ronaldo is now likely to miss out on the Serie A meetings with Siena, Parma and possibly the trip to Palermo on the weekend of September 26.

As Alexandre Pato cannot compete in official tournaments until January 2008, this just leaves Pippo Inzaghi, Alberto Gilardino and youth team player Willy Aubameyang.
