Pato Apologises To Milan Team-Mates For Penalty Miss Against Boca Juniors
Milan’s horror pre-season continued last night as they were defeated on penalties by Boca Juniors in the Audi Cup. Despite going a goal ahead in the first half, the Rossoneri conceded in the 87th minute, which meant the contest would be decided by a shoot-out.
The Argentine club were the eventual victors, as Alexandre Pato missed the decisive kick for the Italians, thus handing third place in the tournament to Boca.
“I am very sorry for my miss in the shoot-out, and also for the goal that I missed that could have ended the game,” Pato explained to Sky after the match.
“I must honestly say though that at this point I have trained very little. In fact, I have only had three training sessions, with one of those being with the entire team.
“We need to continue to work hard. Milan must grow to becoming a powerful club again, and my intention is to help this group achieve that as best as I can.”
Milan will be hoping to put in a good showing in their next friendly against Benfica, on August 8.
