Ambro and Rino both in the midfield are certainly not helping. Maybe Abate could come on for Ambro, or is Seedorf on the bench?

Fishdoll hides behind the penguins. that was painful to watch.
Milan got better as the half went on but there's still NO chemistry at the top of the D among the AMs/strikers.
Fishdoll would bring on Nesta (he's paranoid that he might be injured) and Abate at the half (for Onyewu and Ambro).

We look absolutely lost out there.
We can't get the ball when we want to, when we finally get it, we don't know what to do with it (nor can we keep it)
IMO, the line up isn't working in our favor either.
And to Top it off - Kalac is still SH1T! - Completely Horrible Each and Every time!
I hope he breaks his arm or leg, something, once he never plays for us again.
I wouldn't even want him to keep for Trinidad (thats how bad he is) - yet he is on Milan's team - Sad!

Truth be told he didn't look good 1st half tho. But then again neither did our 'team'.

Well like it or not the management's idea is as such.
Ronaldinho is now the supposed core of this team's attack now that Kaka is gone.
The quicker they can read his passes & through balls the better.
At this point I am just completely fed up. Today's game displayed the following:
We have Keepers that can't keep.
WBs that can't cross.
AMs & CMs that can't seem to create opportunities
Defenders that can't mark their man.
A team that can't seem to play together!
Work definitely needs to be done!
Players need to be bought.
Players need to be sold, dropped & benched.
This team has to change if it is going to challange for any major titles other than Italian Cup (if even that).
Simple as that!

I really don't think its like that, its not just the team adjusting to Dinho, but the team adjusting period. And I don't think its a matter of adjusting to Dinho but reading his passes more, as most of the time he puts in brilliant through balls and no one is there to run on to them...

I think we all need to calm down. I went to the game and although we looked absolutely terrible, (Mocked by half as many inter fans. My dad being one.) I think with a few additions this team can achieve something. There are spots of light. My Assesment (In no particualr order):
First:
Ronaldinho needs to learn how to shoot. This is one thing we are missing without Kaka, the outstanding long shooting ability. We expect to waltz the ball into the net when in reality thats impossible. Especially in Serie A.
Second:
Thiago Silva was our best player yesterday by far. In the first half he paired with Onyewu which was okay but with Nesta we look a lot stronger. Its better than Favalli or Kaladze.
Third:
Oddo is terrible. I would much rather Bonera on the right when Zambrotta is unavailable. We should try and trade Oddo and money to Lazio for De Silvestri.
Fourth:
Although Janku wasnt terrible we need a good fast strong left back. I think De Silvestri could play the right and Zambrotta the left. We also need a good CF because Borriello isnt looking like our savior. At the end of the game Abate was putting in some nice crosses but we are small in the box so we couldnt get on the end of them.
Fifth:
Abbati needs to get fit.
Sixth:
Two DM's will kill us. Pirlo will be forced into creating everything and that will give teams the upper hand against us. Someone like Cigarini should be bought to help create. I think two creative central mids is genius (Look at Barca).
Finally:
Leonardo needs to learn how to field his team. Towards the end of the game he pulled Ronaldinho who went out to make way for ODU who was given a weird role. He dribbled too much and didnt take his chances. Instead of ODU why not play Di Gennaro who can play like a playmaker whch was what we lacked. Our Finishing was the problem throughout the gae, we had chances but Zigoni cannot take the goal scoring burden because we will colapse. Pato's finishing isnt the greatest but given the chance he can score. Our problem was that our midfield wasnt creating and controlling the ball. Two DMs is suicidal. Ambro thinks he can harnes the creativity burden when clearly he cannot. This forced Pato to drop to create leaving an in experienced Zigioni to try and score which he clearly could not.
Need:
A CF
A RB/LB
A CREATIVE MID- unless someone steps up
Best Players:
Thiago Silva
Flamini
Abate

Gosh. Fishdoll doesn't think he watched the same game. Aside from dead balls, he didn't see that Ronaldinho did a whole lot of useful stuff - and that he lost the ball on his own more often than not.
Granted, the rest of the team wasn't much better but Ronaldinho did NOT do well at all in the game. Nor has he yet to really do well. He's unlikely to recover his 2006 form but something approaching it would be nice, as would not losing 3 out of every 4 balls.

no your right. He didn't do jack s***. Its just that right now we are in such a depressing state that if he can pass the ball from point a to point b and run more than a few km. He has done a good job. Last season he was critisized for doing the same thing he has done so far in pre season. He hasn't changed one bit, but the season hasn't started and people need something to place their hope in as there has been so much negativity recently that one positive and people will cling to it.

i just watched a repeat broadcast of the AC/INTER game, gosh that midfield was so flat, sometimes almost static, i'll objectively say that its evident we won't do well next season unless proper action is taken.
starting with gettin a striker, inzaghi's36& borriello can't carry us
midfield- i've always voiced my desire for hernanes' purchase
coach leo- will he have the balls to actually reform the team cos he's pretty much doing the same thing carlo did, i mean if he's just gonna keep playing(pirlo, ambro, gattuso) we might as well keep carlo as a part-time manager& have him coach us via sms from london.
my wish is to have flamini&hernanes in the middle of the park, guys who can win&also play the ball, berlu's a big fool for thinkin ronnie will simply do it all

Jul 27 2009, 08:36 PM
Ronnie's not going to do anything, even if Gattuso DOES pick up after him all game like he's done so far on this tour. Ronaldinho's accuracy and passing isn't what it used to be and running at defenders when your pace is gone and they're Serie A defenders...is going to get you stripped of the ball. He needs to up his game.
Fishdoll doesn't mind Flamini starting over Ambro but saying Rino's past it indicates to Fishdoll that you might not have watched the games this past week. That said, for Fishdoll, Milan has exactly TWO untouchable players that should always be fielded unless they're hurt: Pato and Nesta. Everyone else is up for debate.
Agreed that Borriello has been disappointing so far.
THe fullbacks are also a source of disappointment -- we need someone there far more than we need anyone in midfield.

agree with tennie and zed. If nesta and Pato don't play, there is no point in even competing. Without nesta on the field our defence looks like lecce's defence and without pato we are so slow and old its quite sad to watch really.
sad that we have to depend on a 33 year old and 19 year old to save our team.
On most big teams both would usually not play.
Tennie
Jul 27 2009, 11:33 PM
Fishdoll respectfully disagrees with Blue. If the 33 year old in question is Alessandro Nesta, Fishdoll thinks that pretty much any team (except perhaps AS Roma, for historical reasons) would love to have him. Ditto Pato.
han2503
Jul 28 2009, 12:03 AM
I agree with maldini03's basic assesment of how we're playing.
The Rino Ambro combo in the midfield literally kills us. Rino will only win you the ball and get rid of it quickly to Pirlo while you've got Ambro trying to act like a left winger for some strange reason, it just does not work. If Seedorf actually starts playing it could be a good solution but I'm not going to pin my on that we need a new box to box mid more then we need a striker at this point. Also like it was pointed out if we're going to play the same way we played under Carlo then we might as well should have just stayed as we were. The Ambro Rino combo, the xmas tree sort of system where you have Pato and Dinho both practically playing as CMs to get near the ball.
Another big thing for me is Ambro, how this guy actually gets to start is baffling to me, so I'm not even going to go into the fact that he got captain

he's so clumsy, and infuriating it just gets to the point were I just want to throw something at the screen. And to top it all off for some reason he thinks he's Ronaldinho circa 06, with the trying to run at people on the left wing and shooting at the pigeons outside of the stadium.
Another big problem we have is the fullbacks, Janku, Oddo, Antonini all not good enough to be on the bench let alone be starting. We need a new LB desperately.
Also, according to Galliani Boriello is amazing, yeah he is, at disappearing. He was a mistake to begin with and I always knew that and now that Galliani has realised this he's going to try his best to sell him to the fans and the media as the new Sheva, even going as far as to give him the #22. Its just ridiculous what Milan has turned into

I think Abate can be big for us. His crosses are good but they cant find anyone in the box. We need a LB desperately because Janku doesnt cut it. We should play the inter card and give Albertazzi a chance. Ambro is ridiculus. He thinks that he has marvelous crossing and shooting abilities. I mean Flamini can actually contributeand he works his bum off every game. He had a cannon of a shot that turned out to be one of our best shots of the game, if not the best. I think that Seedorf has had a good preseason and maybe Leo has motivated him to play well. Flamini and seedorf should split time with Pirlo and Gattuso as the other two mids. I dont thnik Ronaldinho can cut it as our trequartista. Rossi is a great option to replace him. We need a big forward too. At this point if Huntelaar doesn't work I say we try and get Toni for cheap. Here's Leonardo's prematch press conference in advance of tomorrow's game with Bayern (translation courtesy of acmilan.com's english page):
QUOTE
READY TO RESTART
7/28/2009 3:49:00 PM
Ahead of the first match of the Audi Cup against Bayern Munich, coach Leonardo touched on various themes during the press conference: the team's condition, his first experience as coach and the market.
MUNICH - Here are the declarations made by coach Leonardo, who talked during the press conference ahead of the match against Bayern Munich, tomorrow night at 20.45 at the Allianz Arena:
"It's nice to be present at this tournament where great clubs are participating, truly prestigious teams, and it's a great honor for me, considering I am starting out, to be here with these great coaches."
Present at the press conference were also the coaches of the other teams representing the Audi Cup, Louis Van Gaal (Bayern Monaco), Alex Ferguson (Manchester United), Paul Pierce (Boca Junior).
We have some players who are coming off the Confederations Cup and others who are coming off injuries so the team cannot be at 100%.
This Milan is restarting with a new mentality after Carlo Ancelotti's period. I have a great group at my disposal, an important squad which objectively still has some problems, but we are still ready to restart.
If we read the situations as they are, it's not easy to think that Kaká will be replaced easily, as goes for Maldini. Paolo has always been a symbol and it won't be easy to find a player to replace him as a personality. Aside from these two factors I am also starting out as a coach this season and it's right that I also grow in my mentality and am able to do this role well. I think we can do good work this season."
More from Leonardo: "As a coach I must learn what to do and what to think. There's not much to go before the start of the league. The United States tour was very tiring and not easy, we've arrived in here in Munich quite tired. It will still be a great motivation for us to play in front of a sold out Allianz Arena.
I agree with those who say it's not normal to spend a lot during today's market, it's obvious that teams with more talented players have more chances to win, but I think it's also possible to work well with other groups.
I am in the middle of great coaches and they teach me that desire, spirit, ideas and experience bring great results."
At the end of the conference, coach Leonardo also talked about other topics with the journalists:
ON PIRLO
"I don't want to say anything because I don't know anything about this negotiation, if it's there. I also don't think it's right to talk about a player like Pizarro."
ON RONALDINHO
"Each player has to be put in the conditions to perform well. He now has a great desire to do well, he seems serene and happy, this makes us hope he can make the difference as we hope."
ON THE MARKET
"There are still a few players missing in this team. Aiming on youngsters is a way to program the near future, but it's also clear they aren't enough. There is a spine in this team. It's a group that has won a lot, which has run a lot and which slowly must be reprogrammed."
