Allegri didn't want him anymore, to which he said: “Time to shake hands without feeling any resentment and without holding a grudge. I’m a very proud person." Well, Leonardo didn't want him either, but last I remember he was singing along with the fans "Leonardo piece of sh!t" the night of the 18th scudetto.

Eh? I'm just saying that what Gattuso said in his interview is very incoherent, since both Allegri and Leo didn't want him in the end, but with Max he'll shake hands and hold no grudge, whilst about Leo, well, he called him a piece of sh!t. A man of honor indeed.

Totally agreed, then. sad.gif Regardless of what anyone thinks of what Leonardo did, most players over the age of 32 should begin weighing their performances, particularly at the biggest of clubs. If you want to play over 32/33 maybe try a lower level, any other club in the league, or try your hands at foreign ones.

Because, really, if your performance isn't up the required levels, and you're taking up the place of a new younger player, it's just greed talking. I'm not being specific here, just talking general. Not everyone can perform at the highest level like Maldini. smile.gif And if a player is leeching off 8 million a year x 3 years, that's not very assuring.

Sadly, this is something easier said than done, takes a really special someone to know when to say goodbye.

Good thing Leonardo did not respond publicly to what Gattuso did there with the fans. sleep.gif I've got very little, if any, respect left for the man. Anyone who can't keep his emotions in check, and that too in front of millions watching, well that's really sad. To say Gattuso behaved admirably during the last few years in Milan would be a plain lie.

And then you consider he pulled off these things wearing the captain's armband is even more damning.

I really hoped he'd sign for Rangers.

We can't sign a paycheque right now, never mind a player like Gattuso.

That said, I was very disappointed in him failing to even wait to see how the situation resolved itself.

He just buggered straight off to Sion.

Funnily enough, so did another (now) former Rangers players, Kyle Lafferty.
Fillipo Simone
Well Gattuso did it because he has to regain normal footballing form and started early with his sessions. It was the main reason. A month or two of waiting...would present a problem.

Gennaro Gattuso reveals he left Milan because “the locker room was out of control with things I’d never seen in 13 years.”

The midfielder was offered a new contract after his deal expired, but believed his time at San Siro was over and has now joined Swiss team Sion.

“The locker room was out of control in the last two or three months with things I’d never seen in 13 years with the Rossoneri,” Gattuso told France Football.

“The rules were no longer respected and the older players, who were irritated, no longer had the strength or the willpower to tell their teammates off. At that point I realised it was time to leave, even though the contract renewal was already prepared.

“When we had training at 9.30am, many arrived just 10 minutes beforehand and nobody would say anything. I’d arrive 45 minutes early in order to do some exercises, get a massage or even just to relax with a cup of coffee. That’s the sporting culture you get after years of experience.

“Or, when we had lunch at 13.00, some turned up 15 minutes late. There was no respect for the rules.

“If in a group of 25 players the rules are not respected, then it’s immediately chaos. These are things that sap energy from the older players too, as they get irritated at wasting time criticising the others.

“The thing that really annoyed me was that nobody said anything. I no longer felt like Rino Gattuso in that locker room, so I realised it was time to leave.”
Zed.D
Every 2 weeks he comes up with new reasons why he left Milan. rolleyes.gif I personally don't like his attitude right now, it's as if this new Milan isn't worth his time and the real Milan died with him and his friends leaving. he could be more supportive but I guess these "champions" (Pirlo included) aren't angels themselves, despite what they may think.

I don't know who he's aiming at, the players who didn't respect the rules or Allegri. if it's the latter, in his defense I must say he was too small for some of the players. but now with most of the big ones out (both the good and the bad), he's given the opportunity to stamp his authority, have the players abide by his rules and create a new identity for Milan.
Bluesummers
Its tough when you have a personality like Ibra in the dressing room. He's a player that won't be told what to do. He'll do his own thing and you try to balance things around him.
drucurl
While I can't fully pinpoint the reason Gattuso did anything....it's clear that this is a very pale shadow of what Milan used to be in ALL respects.

WE no longer have the coveted names of world football.
Getting iBra and C@$$an0 means that we no longer valued the true gentlemen of the game.
Additionally it's clear to me that iBra, and C@$$ano were not top players. They were talented players and interesting characters but they were never going to be recognized as THE best the way Sheva, Kaka, Weah, Van Basten etc were.

Also as mentioned above the CHARACTER and nature of our team changed when we got classless guys like iBra and $h!tlegri. More physical, more blue collar $h!t. less technique, less running less creativity.

On a finer side the family values, that I stupidly bought into, are now non-existent. We sold our golden boys Sheva and (more hurtful) Kaka. Both I and ALL of the fans viewed as icons. We just sold our budding icon in Silva and for once iBra was not being a mercenary and his @$$ got sold too. You know you're $h!t when drucurl defends iBra over you dry.gif . Of course there's the whole P!rlo leaving and $h!tting on us fiasco, in which as much as I hate the guy he actually has some points (thought that won't stop me from portraying it in the most negative light imaginable laugh.gif ) about the level of mismanagement that brought about the nonsense we see today.

Gattuso is a passionate guy. His emotions often get the better of him. But he also calls it like he sees it!

I remember saying right after iBra was brought that there will be a destruction of a lot of things we hold dear at Milan and every day I see the once magnificent institution of AC Milan decaying due to utter neglect

Fillipo Simone
Agreed on all accounts.

Bleh...we've been through worse...the thing is I could deal with losing, getting relegated etc...what I can't deal with is becoming what I perceived Inter to be...i.e. losing our identity...who are we these days?. I guess at the end of the day football clubs are all the same. There is no "good" or "evil" or "nice" and "nasty"

I used to entertain fanciful impresions of Milan as us being a "classy" and "family oriented" club with gentlemen at the helm

However when I say the FANS.....*US boo Maldini* *call a JERK like iBra "king iBra" puke.gif because he scored goals for us* *turn our backs on Pato for being f*ckin injured dry.gif * *tolerate Pirlo's perpetual bull$h!t but haul Seedorf over the coals for pretty much the same thing.....I no longer felt any superiority of Milan over anyone

Berlu's behaviour has increasingly become a cause for shame and the very player in this thread lost it and assulted an old guy dry.gif What is there left to hold on to?

Well there are the memories of when we WERE what we said we were that I'll always hold dear like Kaka's goals vs Manure and Inzaghi's double. Then there's Galliani. He is indeed one of the most lovable, if utterly frustrating personalities in football. Then I can always be proud of the genuine footballing legends that played for us like Ronaldo, Maldini, Kaka, Baggio, Rijkaard, Baggio, Shevchenko, Seedorf, Nesta Inzaghi....the list goes on and on really. I remember my first football my dad bought for me just so happened to be an AC Milan ball king.gif etc

But the real passion that I once had isn't there. I'm not moving mainly because I see all others as equally bad/good. but I won't begrudge someone who takes a principled stand and moves on. At this point it's Galliani, Pato and our colours are the only thing that I can identify with....LOLZ Bonera and Mexes our two best CB's laugh.gif puke.gif

GENNARO GATTUSO says he misses Milan a lot and hopes Kaka returns to wearing red and black.

Milan are going through massive changes this summer. After saying goodbye to legends like Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf, Gennaro Gattuso and Filippo Inzaghi, Milan have sold a number of players.

It will not be an easy season for Milan and coach Massimiliano Allegri has already admitted Milan will be fighting for 2nd or 3rd place. Gattuso backs the management and says he misses Milan a lot even now.

“It was painful to leave Milan, but there came a point where I could see that things were not going as I wanted and I didn’t say anything,” Gattuso told Sky Italia. “I felt that I had given everything, I needed a change of scenery. I miss Milan a lot, it’s normal that I miss them. I was living a dream for 13 years at Milan.

“Believe me when I say that I can’t even watch Milan play; I get a stomach ache and I’ve to change the channel – it’s stronger than me. I chose FC Sion because I still want to play football. This is a different reality, the football is real – for 13 years I was playing another sport at Milan. I leave home at 8 in the morning and return at 8 in the evening. There are many young players and I can give my contribution here.

“I’ve rediscovered the pleasure of football, I feel like when I was 18; I have a stomach ache before games, I’m looking forward to Sunday and this makes me proud, because it means I still have a great desire.”

Gattuso is one of the double-digit number of first team players that have left Milan this summer with the latest being Antonio Cassano who goes to Inter in exchange for Giampaolo Pazzini. “I think Cassano had decided a long time ago that he wants to leave. When he was with Italy and spoke you could see he wanted to leave. Even if I had stayed I think he’d go!” added the former Milan midfielder and Sion’s new number 8.

“Kaka? I hope he arrives, for both Milan and the player. Kaka needs to train in a certain way because I think that he needs to be in a good physical condition to be at his best level and perhaps in Spain they skip certain drills. The change of Milan’s direction? I think it was only right to sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva for that figure. It’s better giving two players than firing one thousand employees of Mediaset.”

Gattuso continues his life at Milan but already said he hopes to return one day as the boss of the Rossoneri. Rino played a very important part for 13 years at Milan but Milan are certainly revolutionizing.

Italian World Cup winner Gennaro Gattuso is the new player-Coach of Swiss side FC Sion.

The 35-year-old midfielder, who only joined the club in the summer once his Milan contract expired, has been placed in charge of the squad.

Sion, led by Victor Munoz, lost 4-0 at Thun this weekend – a result which leaves them fourth and nine points adrift of leaders Grasshoppers.

The club today announced that Munoz had not been sacked, but had taken a “step back” to take up a scouting role.

Sion, who only hired Munoz in January, have lost three of their last four games in the Swiss Super League.

Good for him.

The following are new rules and regulations that will be implemented by Gattuso now that he has assumed power.

-All training sessions will be held within a ring of fire on an abandoned offshore oil platform. Players will be responsible for their own transportation to and from training.

-Penalty for being late to training: Continuous, silent eye-contact with Rino Gattuso for 15 minutes.

-Penalty for being late to travel: Standing in a dark, windowless room with Rino Gattuso while he breathes heavily for 30 minutes.

-Penalty for being late to matches, meetings or team meals: Disappearing without a trace and your family being told that you never existed.

-For each goal conceded, a live mountain lion will be released into the dressing room.

-For each goal scored, a machete will be made available.

-All players and backroom staff are to express themselves exclusively through guttural noises and aggressive pacing.

-All injuries will be treated with duct tape.

-On away trips, hotel mattresses must be used to make forts. Pirate names will be assigned prior to assaults on said forts.

-Everyone must grow a beard. Everyone.

Sion Coach and former Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has insisted that he has a good relationship with Massimiliano Allegri.

The Swiss side are at Milanello for a friendly with the Rossoneri this afternoon, and the 35-year-old has claimed that he was not forced out of the club.

“My relationship with the Milan Coach? You have to stop saying that we had a fight,” he told reporters.

“That sort of thing never happened between Allegri and myself.

“In fact, I had to laugh when they said that I left because of him.”

Gennaro Gattuso was sent off for dissent as his Palermo side lost to Hellas Verona in the Coppa Italia.

The fiery former Milan midfielder is now Coach of the Sicilians and showed his character has now been dimmed by hanging up his boots.

Paulo Dybala threatened early on and thumped his effort against the upright, but former Palermo star Luca Toni put Hellas Verona ahead with their first real scoring opportunity.

It was a typical Toni goal, nodding in Martinho’s cross from six yards.

The hosts hit the woodwork for the second time with Andelkovic and Gattuso saw red for dissent after two dubious incidents in the penalty area.

Rafael performed a crucial late save on Abel Hernandez to secure Verona’s qualification for the Fourth Round.

Palermo 0-1 Verona

Scorers: Toni 37 (V)
