I think Rino should smoke a spliff and go to the beach and just relax for a while instead of doing more intense physical training. His body is obviously telling him something. He should listen. Modern footballers are becoming over-used and over-dosed with intense training and medical treatments. Is this what life is? The last joyous footballer I remember was Sheva... The new ones just look like mercenaries. And although I admire a tough character in life, there are far more important things to fight for this intensely than running around on grass kicking a ball around. I'm losing interest in the sport day by day. Most of the time I follow Milan, I'm doing it out of habit. It's like trying to stop wondering about a girl you used to love. All in all, the whole Earth is becoming a strange place. Most sports I see are tainted with advertisement and commercial filth run by corporate douche-bags and played by mostly wanna be gangsters. You wouldn't believe the posters of "athletes" in the U.S. They truly look like gangs with over-sized tattooed bodies acting like a bunch of teenage thugs. Speaking of athletes in America, It's becoming a joke to me how so many pro athletes are using roids. Here son, here's a good example of how to grow up and become a good sportsman... Don't rely on your own strength and grit, no, inject this motherf@cker in your arm and enjoy the long lasting effects of looking like a human anomaly...

Back to where I started, I'm seeing more and more football players lose their minds and souls over this ****. Gattuso to me looks like a person who is going insane. I mean the Maldini example (His goodbye treatment debacle) is just more proof... Even fans are losing their f@cking minds... What's the point? For Milan to win? Win what exactly? Gold? Silver? Respect? Money? Pride for some asshole who can't find it in himself? And I'm not safe from this either... When Sheva left, I seriously went into a deep year long depression... I mean what the f? We are so hopeless on this Earth...

What am I getting at? I'm mostly here nowdays because I'm bored. And in some strange sense I feel like I miss my "friends" here sometimes... But as a whole, I'm not excited about any of this sh1t anymore... I know this is all a bit H. S Thompson-esque but if Barcelona is supposed to be the most powerful, interesting and exciting team to watch, and if Messi is the best player in the World right now, watching them has become as interesting as watching a cashier routinely ringing grocery items at the register. And on the other hand you have rich Arabs jerking off to football glory by splashing their fat @ss cash around like mad, buying success within a couple years. What is happening with Man City, to me, is comedy unfolding. Where is the fun in this? God, we have so much evolution to go through before we can realize what we really are, and what we can do together here on Earth and beyond. And on that "beyond" note, here's to the space program being abandoned for good. We humans are truly the most intelligent and kindest of the species and we certainly deserve to dominate and manipulate every other life-form on Earth.

So to summarize, I hope Gattuso feels better.

There is an alarming lack of smilies in your post, Max, but wow, what a great post, indeed. king.gif I haven't enjoyed reading a comment here more all year. Yeah, agree with Danny to be fair that post did seem a bit attention seeking and it's not the first time.

Great post though Max, summed up how I feel pretty well too with the sport. My interest is slowly dying out, what's happening here with Man City has pretty much made it a farce. La Liga is just 2 great teams and the rest are no where near. At least the Serie A seems to have picked itself up a bit again in terms of entertainment and parity.

Incredible post (no homo)!! Massive respect king.gif

Jesus once said "of what benefit is it that a man gains the whole world but forfeits his soul.." I think that summarizes your post.

I once used to hold a high esteem for my fellow Milanistas and our class and family atmosphere. $#€¥₫ might have done it for you but my heartbreak came when we got rid og Kaka and replaced him (eventually) with a jaded Ronaldinho. Then Maldini retires and we get motherfucking iHomobitch!! - A character who was so un-Milan in every imaginable way....

Probably, but I don't think it will boost anything if Allegri starts playing him as a regular again.

Speaking of which, I wonder what Allegri will do when Rino is fit. I mean, Nocerino has been awesome so far, you hardly can replace someone like him. And we need Aquilani for the quality, assists and all. I hope Max shows some brains once in a while and consideres Rino a sub from now onwards. Same argument for Seedorf.

Gattuso simply cannot be given another contract as a player.

Best solution for him and the the club is to convince him to take on a back room position. You can see that he's important to the group.

But playing is simply out of the question, for him and the rest of the old gaurd aside from Nesta and VB. It simply cannot be an option for the club, not only are they costing us a lot financially but they're costing us on the pitch as well
Fillipo Simone
If he'll play for free, let him play for free. Not first team surely, but a peripheral role...why not?

Gennaro Gattuso admits he did consider retiring during recent struggles with an injury that has kept him sidelined for most of the season.

Gattuso was diagnosed with a rare eye condition that has taken months to overcome, but now back in training, the World Cup winner is keen to put it all behind him.

“It has been my dream for a few months now, because I definitely miss football, more so than football misses me.

“In recent months I have suffered a lot and I thought I would never return, but now all that has seemed to have passed.

“I thought about retiring…but now who knows? This may have extended my career.

“I’ve been training with the squad for about 10 days, but I don’t believe I can play more than 25-30 minutes in a game. It is now down to the Coach.”

Gattuso also passed comment on the current atmosphere in the dressing room, following the midweek performance away to Arsenal.

“Yes we played a game short of our potential in London, but you must rest assured. The criticism I’m hearing will not distract us.

“Imagine the stick I’ve heard said after Istanbul and La Coruna, but when one sits on the Milan bench, we must accept everything. You are at a club with a glorious badge on its chest and we should not expect compliments when we get beaten by three goals at Arsenal!

“The important thing is to stay compact as a team. Today, I saw only smiles between us all, no-one was taking part in any fights.

“We must not fall into the traps set by the newspapers and TV…today I was reading about the argument between [Massimiliano] Allegri and Ibra. We are 30 players and we are comfortable.

“Ibra is hot headed and doesn’t like to lose, even in training.”

Rino gattuso held a press conference to explain his decision to leave the club. “I’m leaving the club, I’ll do a course to become a coach and then we’ll see. I still want to fight on”

MILANO – Here’s what Rino Gattuso had to say in today’s press conference at the Milanello sports centre:

“Thanks to all the journalists for coming. I want to thank to the club, all employees and everyone at Milanello for what have been 13 fantastic years. It was my childhood dream but life goes on and let’s hope my eye stay open (laughs). I still want to keep fighting and to show that I’m not finished as a player. For now I want to thank the club, the Berlusconi family and Adriano Galliani who showed such regard for me. But now the moment has come."

“I’ve always said that I don’t want to be a cross to bear for anyone. The club wanted me to stay but inside myself, I felt the need to leave. The spine of the team is leaving and even though it’s not easy, you have to make choices in life. Let’s hope it’s not a mistake.”

“It’s not running away. It’s just that when you’ve given so much, you make choices. I couldn’t give anymore as a player and I felt dead inside and no longer that combative player that could give something to this club. 5 or 6 months ago I had other plans. I wasn’t hoping to get back on the pitch and the plan was to stay at the club with another role. But then things changed thanks to the medical staff and doctors. I got the desire back to play again and here I think I’ve given all I can. I never asked for a fixed place. In my way of thinking, the only certainty is death. I did bad by Leonardo, but I assumed my responsibilities and I apologized. There was still place for me here otherwise they wouldn’t have given me a contract extension.”

“I’ll leave at Milanello what Maldini and Costacurta left for me. Now there’s only Ambrosini left. I really regret the stupid things I did with Joe Jordan and Leonardo. I hope that the reputation for respect continues however, as it’s a part of the culture at the club and I hope it won’t die.”

“To the players who stay here I say, when you put on this jersey, you need to win. I don’t forget that 4 months ago I was 5 kg overweight because of the cortisone. I wasn’t in good enough shape to play and it was a miracle that I made it on the pitch. I could feel inside myself that the time had come and after watching Nesta’s press conference I knew the moment had come because a cycle had finished.”

“I hope the club will build a competitive side but we can’t forget that economically it’s a tough time. Knowing the people involved though, I know they’ll do all they can.”

“I have 60 people who work for me, I have a wide and two children and I have to decide with my wife what to do in the future. She’s the family captain. I have offers. My dream is to play for Glasgow Rangers who gave me the chance to play when I was a no one from Salerno. My wife’s mother lives alone in Glasgow and it would be nice to go back for a year. It would be my heart’s choice, a sign of affection for those who made me into a ‘half’ player, even if I know it wouldn’t be easy.”

“For me Carlos Ancelotti was a coach, a friend, a father and a lover in football terms. I used to joke that they should put his statue in Milanello alongside Nereo Rocco because he was a great man in those years and raised the bar at the club. He wasn’t just a coach, he was an emblem of the club and when you took to the pitch, you did it for him. He used to day: “You get on the pitch and I’ll make you win”. He used to plan the matches with a cigarette in his mouth, incredible.”

“I can’t forget last year with Allegri, we had a great campaign and he gave me the chance to play. We’re talking about two people completely different. Ancelotti knew the environment and it was a much simpler changing room than now.”

“My team mates were a bit disappointed. I didn’t speak to anyone about this decision. It was something that was boiling inside of me for a month and a half, and it was right to speak first with the club and then the players. They’ve put up with me in these past few years. I can be a heavy personality, I’m Calabrese…

“I would never join Inter or Juventus for the love of the club that I have and they wouldn’t want me anyway, but I definitely wouldn’t go.”
“On Monday I’ll start a four week training course and I plan to do the second and third parts of the course as well.”

“After the loss to Liverpool in 2007, I had nightmares for 5 or 6 months. The best win was in 2003. Beating Inter in the semi final and Juventus in the final was big for Italian football.”

Genoa are the latest club to be linked with available Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso.

La Stampa is today reporting that the Grifone have offered the 34-year-old a 12-month contract at Marassi.

The former Italian international is considering his options after his desire to return to Rangers was blocked by their transfer embargo.

Gattuso’s agent yesterday denied reports linking the former Salernitana man with a move to Lazio.

The World Cup winner will leave the Rossoneri on a Bosman when his contract expires after turning down the offer of an extension.

QUOTE
Gennaro Gattuso expects Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri to be having sleepless nights after the club’s high profile departures this summer.

The Rossoneri have waved goodbye to a host of their veteran players, while they’ve decided to sell Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain.

“Without Thiago Silva and Alessandro Nesta, Milan have no reference points in defence,” Gattuso told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, wins you 10 games a season on his own. If I was Allegri, I’d have trouble sleeping.”

Gattuso himself was one of numerous older players to leave when their contracts expired at the end of June.

“The club wanted to keep me, but Allegri didn’t want me anymore.

“When someone like a Coach makes you understand that he’d like you as a director or someone to help him in the changing room then it is time to go.

“Time to shake hands without feeling any resentment and without holding a grudge. I’m a very proud person.

“If Nesta and I made this choice, then it’s because we felt that Allegri no longer wanted us.”

Fans are unhappy with the club’s strategy, but the 2006 World Cup winner has admitted that these are tough economical times.

“You can’t criticise President Silvio Berlusconi after what he has done for the last 26 years, but there is a need to be clear and tell people how things are.

“Sacrifices are being made for two-three years and then there will be a return to spending. If people are losing their jobs then there isn’t the need to spend money on a football club.

“Milan can’t play in the Champions League to just participate. To see such a re-shaping after so many years is a real shock.”

Nevertheless, the former Rangers player believes that the Rossoneri could learn from what champions Juventus did last term.

“Milan’s aim for next season could be to fight and imitate Juve last year. It was a team built around two champions in Gigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo – and then you had the others who fought so hard that they vomited. You can see that boss Antonio Conte is behind them.

“Conte loves football and he was like a cat stuck to your balls as a player. When we faced Juve, everybody was talking about Edgar Davids, but it was Conte who kept on running and who never gave up.”

Gattuso is now plying his trade in Switzerland with FC Sion after he rejected numerous offers from other Italian clubs.

“The Milan shirt was stitched to me,” he added. “I miss Milan. I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t admit it, but I’m happy with the choice that I made because here at Sion you really need to fight and work hard.

“I have started again here. I carry my own bag, I clean my own boots and I change my own studs. I have to think about the small things, like a bricklayer who goes to work.

“If I forget something then I can only get mad with myself and if you tape up your ankle then you are looked at funny – because tape costs money.”
