Why don't we each stick with our respective logics? You clearly disagree with mine and I clearly disagree with yours.
fine but all i'm saying is you look at the situation like its a document in a stats class and it can't be looked at like that. If things worked as you said than many players in the world would look extremely red card prone when the reality is otherwise.

And I think you're wanting to twist the statistics around to create unrealistic justifications to support your position.

I'll also note that I'm not at all sure I in any way agree with your view of 'how things work'. So, like I said, let's just stick with our respective logics.

He comes in at an average of 1 red card for every 7.5 minutes on the field.

I personally rate all of our DMs, its the one area were we're very well equipped. Flamini is more prone to flying in imo, but I think his techincal abilities to those of Rino/Ambro give him an edge.
Having said that, I think Ambro is great at winning the ball and sweeping up, that's why we're seeing him doing so great now that he's finally being played in his right position
Rino is just amazing in the sense that he's an engine for the entire team, when he's on his game he's still one of the best DMs for me, he's so full of energy, power and passion. He's also great at winning balls and releasing it quickly, he doesn't slow play down.
I don't think Flamini has the ball winning capabilities of Rino/Ambro atleast we haven't seen them yet at Milan, but like I said he does have that technical edge over the other 2.
But imo all are great, but we have to accept the fact that both Ambro and Rino are not in their 20s, Rino is now constantly getting injured, when in the past a bulldozer could run over him and he'd still keep playing. Ambro is very injury prone as well, even though he has managed to remain injury free for the last couple of seasons it could only take something minor to keep him out for months

That's why he get's carded so many times. Also the fact that he came from the EPL which is more physical and accepting of the way he plays. While Rino and Ambro have spent their entire lives playing Italian football

AC Milan Midfielder Gennaro Gattuso Out For Two Weeks - Report
AC Milan have been dealt a major blow as Gennaro Gattuso is out for two weeks following the injury he sustained in training on Wednesday.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Italian international has undergone tests at Milanello this afternoon, and the results have revealed some bad news for Leonardo.
The report suggests Gattuso has been diagnosed with a first grade muscle tear in the flexors of his right leg.
As a result, he is now expected to miss up to two weeks of action. He will now miss the international friendlies for Italy against the Netherlands, and Sweden respectively.
The rest of the squad trained ahead of this weekend's clash against Lazio. Massimo Ambrosini is likely to take Gattuso's place on Sunday afternoon.
It's not the news Gattuso wanted to hear. He has endured a rotten year with consistent injury woes.
no problem, we have abate, flamini and strasser for cover if he's out even longer.

I would've been a fisherman....
In Gallarate, near Varese, Rino Gattuso has opened his fishmonger-gastronomy. Hundreds of people were present at the inauguration and many team mates including David Beckham and Ronaldinho.
MILAN - "My dream has always been to be a fisherman, then fortunately I became a footballer, but fish...". It's that passion for seafood, for his land, which has pushed Rino Gattuso to open a fishmonger-gastronomy in the center of Gallarate. It's called "Gattuso and Bianchi," named also after his friend, confectioner Andrea Bianchi, and is in the center of Gallarate in the province of Varese, in Via Bettolino 17. Around a hundred curious people attended the inauguration today, and they were able to taste delicacies from Gattuso's land, Calabria, for free.
Many of his team mates also participated to the opening of Rino's new activity, from captain Massimo Ambrosini, to Luca Antonini, Christian Abbiati, Davide Di Gennaro and surprisingly, David Beckham. The Englishman in fact wanted to surprise his friend Rino and presented himself among the general surprise of everyone. Also another man from Calabria, Vincenzo Iaquinta, wanted to be present.
While eating some oysters Rino Gattuso wanted to explain the reasons behind this initiative: "I love fresh fish, I love seeing it, touching it, and of course eating it, it's a passion I have since childhood and that's why I wanted to start this adventure with my friend Bianchi. My favorite fish-based dish? Certainly cuttlefish with peas, but only the way my mother makes that, no one makes it like her."
After declaring that the fishmonger is open not only for Milan fans but that also Inter fans will find fresh fish for all tastes, Rino talked about the upcoming derby: "It will be a great match, the standings are good now and winning would be very important for us. Let's hope it goes well because we know Inter are a tough team. What has changed in the last few months. Great credit should go to Leonardo's work, right now there's a lot of enthusiasm in the dressing room, Abate and Antonini have brought freshness and we are all having fun. Yesterday against Siena I found myself celebrating and jumping like a kid. Now I'm really doing well, I train with consistency, the knee isn't hurting me and I'm ready to fight as usual in a very important match for our seasons."

I'm sad Gattuso is staying. Sure he's a good dressing room guy, but so is Ambro. Another missed chance to improve this team.
Gattuso will sit the bench for 80% of the games this year. He can't pass, he can't shoot, all he can do is play defense. But when you lose two steps like he has, he can't get in position anymore to be as dominant as he once was. Should I even bring up Gattuso vs. Inter last year? Sigh.
Gattuso was one of my favorite players 3 years ago. I'd like to see him go somewhere where he is useful i.e. Olympiakos.

I also think that he's someone who can't stand not being the best at what he does, he doesn't accept failure and his body is failing him, the injuries have really shaven off a couple years of longevity from him. That knee injury when he continued playing like a beast for an entire game with thorn ligaments was imo the final nail in his coffin. He went with the Azzurri knowing what his role would be and I think he'll stay on at Milan knowing that he can't be a starter but more of a back room guy because he knows he'll give more to the team by doing that then playing.
If he does wish to leave he'll go over to England or Scotland due to his wife and he's always said that would be the only place he would go to if he ever left Milan

Gattuso: 'My bad rapport with Leo'
Gennaro Gattuso reveals he had a terrible rapport with Leonardo and was “already leaving for Greece” when Max Allegri changed his mind.
The Milan midfielder is finally finding his feet again after a poor campaign that was mainly spent on the bench.
“It takes a long time to get over a serious injury, but now the knee is responding well and I can train regularly,” explained ‘Ringhio.’
“Besides, human relationships are very important to me, so when those aren’t there... I am a lot more motivated than I was last year, as I had lost the will to play.
“I always respected Leonardo’s choices, but there just wasn’t a good rapport between us. He only saw things in black and white.”
Gattuso explained that the rumoured move to Olympiakos was at an extremely advanced stage before he pulled the plug.
“I was already leaving for Greece when Allegri stopped the transfer. It had all been finalised, but I understood that he needed me.”

Apparently not, judging by what Jack Bauer posted above me.

Frankly though, I think it was best that he left (and I am saying this keeping in mind his recent string of good performances). Same goes for Seedorf, Pirlo and more, when their time comes. Fact is that while all these players have done great in Milan, the club should sell them when they start getting over the hill and invest that money (amount from sales, and saved wages), into younger, new players. That would ensure we don't fall into big holes like we are now.
Immortality should only be left for players like Paolo Maldini and others like him.

You are immortal as well, I was talking about the club side of things. Paolo and Baresi, and a select few others before them. Other guys should not usually be renewed after they hit 30. Exceptional cases, yes, but most others should be sold at 5m, 8m or 10m, or more.

I love Gattuso as much as the next guy, but surely his legs can't keep up as he leaves 35 and approaches 40 years of age. We play in a topflight league, and can't have him covering people half his age. I'm sure he knows that.
Now or later, we will have to look towards younger players. The sooner the better.

I agree. If we're going to sell Flamini and sign another DM in his place, I'd be more than happy. Gattuso can't be our starting DM, he's way too old. I'd also not renew Ambro's contract and replace him with Strasser. As for Seedorf, I'd keep him ONLY if we're willing to use him as a sub. Our midfield next season should look like this:
Pirlo
New DM
Gattuso
Strasser
Boateng
Seedorf
New AM (Pastore

This is rediculous, you know??
It goes over and over again and it really becames more then just nasty. Why do you people state always the same? What do you want? I exactly know all the arguments that have been splashed again and again: too old, faded, past their prime...but what sense does it make? Four years past and most of the players are still here. When will you ever learn Milan does not have that kind of policy and most probably won't for some time? Why don't you start supporting another team? Because I really get sick of does lists highlighting who should be sold, retired or thrown out. What sense does it make?
Over and over we mention Pastore while any transfer with Palermo is highly unlike, and even if it happens...there is no certain way of knowing. Milan knows Pirlo is world class, just like Gattuso or Zambrotta. They can make mistakes, but overall, they are great players and noone can take that away. While Pastore...now we all swear he's a class player, but the second he turns out bad we'll be screaming out to him.
