Mancini fired. Right decision IMO.

Agreed.

Hope we don't go for him

He's a more refined version of Allegri

Finally can think about next season. Only took us 5 days before our final game. rolleyes.gif

Need to add a few players to that team mate, mainly some experience.

Which was the frustrating thing in January. In Jan 2011 we signed Bent for a club record £18m and his goals kept us up for 2 straight seasons - why not do something in Jan this time? Sylla has been brilliant, but he was just another young unknown.

Remy arrested in gang **** investigation
kurtsimonw
Ross Turnbull has played 7 games for Chelsea.

His medal haul includes:
1x Champions League
1x Premier League
2x FA Cup
1x Europa League
1x Community Shield

That's basically theft.
Fillipo Simone
Haha, well it happens, I know a few other examples as well.

We have one on our team in Muntari

We had others as well in the past such as Roque junior etc

And then a player like Ronaldo who never won the CL.

But life's not fair...
kurtsimonw
Muntari played 42 times in Inter's big year, hardly comparable.
X-Offender
Valerio Fiori has played only 1 game for Milan from 1999 till 2008, yet we all know what we've won during those years.

Doesn't negate the fact that he is and was mediocre. Mourinho mostly used him as a utility player. Their best XI didn't include him

Naah, Junior is a completely different thing. He's a hero if you ask me, the way he mastered through the CL final with his injury, limping and still helping closing down the right flank, I'll never forget this. And also, he had his fair share of matches. Just like Muntari.

Fiori and Mario Ielpo are good examples.

But that's not the point. The point is finding a player that won almost everything in a long span of years almost without any match played.

For Kurt:

QUOTE
Christian Benteke wants Aston Villa to honour their promise of a bumper new contract – after keeping them in the Premier League.

Villa’s escape from relegation has paved the way for manager Paul Lambert and owner Randy Lerner to step up their efforts to keep the Belgian sensation.

Benteke’s 19 Premier League goals following a £7million move from Genk has alerted the cream of Europe, with Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund the latest interested club.

The Germans view him as a perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is lined up for a summer transfer to either Bayern Munich, Manchester United or Chelsea.

AC Milan and Arsenal also fancy 22-year-old Benteke, now rated in the £30m bracket by the Villans' boss Lambert.

Benteke’s agent Eris Kismet has confirmed Dortmund’s chief transfer negotiator Michael Zorc was at Saturday's game against Chelsea and added: “Now that the future of Aston Villa is secure I hope it will mean we can have discussions maybe by the end of the week. If not, then next week.
kurtsimonw
From what I've heard Benteke and Weimann have been told that we'll double their current wages, so hopefully both of them will be happy with that.

If anyone wants to bid the £25m/£30m it will take to get Benteke then they can have him. At this point he is a 1 season wonder and you have to take the money when you can. If he stays and performs well again, then great. It's almost a win/win at this point.

But that's not the point. The point is finding a player that won almost everything in a long span of years almost without any match played.

I think the big point is not the amount of matches played, because as we've seen over the years some of the worst players out there can still get a good number of appearances in for some reason or other and thus by being involved with their teams mostly not through their own merit they can win all there is to win while some of the most legendary players of the game can go without ever winning the World Cup as is Paolo's case or the CL as is Ronaldo's case
kurtsimonw
I think if you're looking for the worst player who's won a lot of trophies while still being a fairly big part of the first team squad, then Muuntari has to be up there you would think. He won, what, 6 trophies with Inter and 1 with Portsmouth? Too much for a bad player.

Fillipo Simone
I don't understand you guy. For me, there are two categories, and now you're mixing them up.

First, there are players who present anomalies in a solid/good/great squad. Teams win despite their performances. Prime examples are Valdes, Jerome Boateng, Kakha Kaladze, maybe even Bonera, etc.

Then you have another group of players who have won much but didn't really had the chance to contribute. For some reason however the team decided to stick with them. Mostly it's keepers, like Turnbull, Orlandoni, Fiori or Ielpo, but one can also find a view field players. But the point with them is - they're not bad (or half as bad as we'd assume), they just can't find more chances to play.

So these are, if you ask me, completely different things.
kurtsimonw
Yeah they are.

Wes Brown is another. Won a load at Man U and can't even get into the Sunderland team and they're terrible.

7x Premier League
3x League Cup
2x FA Cup
2x Champions League
4x Community Shield

Still doesn't top Valdes though.

Yeah, I was talking about him in the same sense as Muntari/Valdes, where a team wins despite him playing a lot. Because he was an awful defender.

Because I think I misinterpreted the "Yes they are" to Filippo as you agreeing with him rather than saying "Yes they are different things". My bad. tongue.gif

No. biggrin.gif But what about Phil Neville?
kurtsimonw
Phil Neville was a decent player though, he just wasn't United level. He was good at Everton.
Milan Are Brilliant
Yeah Phil Neville wasn't as bad as Wes Brown, could always rely on him for a booking though.

Carrick? Really?

I don't consider him a great player, but he's good. Certainly not bad enough to be considered along the same lines as Silvestre
Milan Are Brilliant
Laurent Blanc for example, most people would run quicker backwards than that guy forwards - granted older but easily one of the worst players I've ever seen in a United shirt, almost laughable.

He was voted as United's player of the season
Fillipo Simone
Really? I must admit, I don't watch EPL on regular basis, but he's been almost always bad when I got a glimpse.
kurtsimonw
Carrick is terrible, actually terrible.

His performance at Wembley against San Marino is the worst performance I have ever, ever seen by a player. He made San Marino's defense look like it was the 90s Milan. We're 2-0 up after 70 minutes, he gets subbed off for the almighty God that is Jonjo Shelvey and England go 5-0 up within 10 minutes.
kurtsimonw
Darren Bent starts again and scores. I know Benteke is a beast but it's a shame Bent has hardly played. His Villa career now stands at 51 starts and 24 goals, that's a pretty damn good return but over 2 and a half years that's just not enough starts, even if he was injured for 4 months. Whoever gets him will have one of the best value for money signings of next season.

Nah, his hold up play is great and he's a massive threat in the air. He's not a flashy footballer, but he's certainly effective. Not worth £35m, but then it's not up to him what clubs offer for him!

If Bale is worth £60m + Carroll is easily worth £15m.

Apparently Bale is going to sign a new contract. What a fool. If they miss out on CL again next season does he seriously think Spurs will let him go after he's just signed a new contract? Or that someone will pay the silly money Spurs will demand? He seems like a dumb creature.
