Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he has joined a ‘Dream Team’ after completing his transfer from Milan to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Swede was presented to the media this afternoon after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract. Milan are thought to have netted around €25m.
“I’m sorry for the wait,” he said after days of talks with his agent. “I want to thank Paris Saint-Germain for the great work which they have done, for making the impossible possible.
“I’m happy, I’m finally a PSG player. I’m happy for the club, for the fans – it is an interesting project which I want to be part of. I now want to make history and win.
“I’ve come to a Dream Team. They have other great players, they’ve bought the best defender in the world – Thiago Silva [from Milan]. As long as he is behind me, I don’t have to look back.
“Who doesn’t want to be here? PSG will win trophies. This is the future.”
Ibra has played for the likes of Ajax, Juventus, Inter and Barcelona in his career, but this is the first time that he was sold after not initially requesting a move.
“I'm very happy that I was at Milan,” he said when asked about any possible problems at San Siro. “They gave me my smile back. I will always have great memories of Milan. They will remain in my heart.
“I wish Milan good luck with everything. They were successful before I joined them and they will continue to be successful.
“I gave Milan my best and I have nothing negative to say. I just have a positive vision.
“I said that my contract with Milan would be my last, but you never know what will happen in life. I don’t want to think about the past, just the future.
“No one at Milan influenced me to do anything. It was my own choice to come to PSG. As soon as PSG made contact with my people then I knew that I would join. It was just a matter of details.”
Sporting director Leonardo, a former Coach at Milan and Inter, also insisted that the move was born from his club’s desire and not the Italian side’s need to raise funds.
“Milan didn’t sell, Paris Saint-Germain made a buy – the most important in the history of this club,” the Brazilian underlined.
Ibra admitted that his knowledge of Ligue 1 needs improving, but he has confidence in the ability of his new side.
“They are at the level of the other teams I have played for,” he added. “Perhaps there are no sides like this, but you have to still step out there and win.
“I don't know much about the teams and players in Ligue 1. I will get to know them and they definitely know who I am.

If he's telling the truth there then tbh he leaves with my best wishes. No one forced him out, he just decided it was time for a new chapter (and fucking massive wage) - he spoke highly of us so I don't really object to him leaving.
But yes, we will miss him, and yes, it's ridiculously disappointing we accepted PSG's bid for him.

You can't force a player out. You can accept the bid, but no one holds a gun to their head saying they must leave.
The player has to be willing to leave.
Encourage, yes, force? Not a chance.

Raiola: "Galliani is a sincere person, honest and sensible. He's very sad about having lost two great players like Silva and Ibra. I've talked a lot with him, the project of selling Ibra dates back to January, when PSG signed Maxwell. It was a necessary decision, in line with the conditions of the country. Ibra always said he wanted to stay at Milan, but personally I wasn't too convinced about it".

It doesn't make any difference. there's two ways a player is transferred, either the players wants out (Sheva-Chelsea) or the club decides the player be sold (Silva-PSG).
As far as I'm concerned Silva and Ibra's transfers fall under the second category. I mean, after ALL the FFP/financial discussions and arguments we've had, one can't possibly say it was Ibra who wanted out!

Fillipo, look in my eyes and tell me
we wanted to keep Zlatan on 9m/y. besides, the guy said Milan need to show ambition, but when we decided we had to sell Silva, he knew there wasn't much. so it was easy for him to accept to move to PSG. hell, even Cassano's considering his future.

Cassano? What the heck has he got to do with it? He's totally unaccountable, don't bet your money on knowing his reasons. Yes, Milan gave the green light, but I rejected your simplistic two-option pattern. I believe Milan gave green light but didn't push for the transfer. I personally believe that Milan were thre ones that forced the move.
If that weren't the case than we would have gotten a lot more had PSG been as desperate for him as Raiola and Leo are saying. Leo was desperate to get Silva and Milan wanted to get mostly Ibra's wage off their bill, so they sold Silva with the condition that PSG would also buy Ibra.
Of course Ibra will not say that he was forced to join PSG and only agreed because of the massive wage he'll be getting, that would endear him to no end with the new faithful I imagine...

Like I said, the only one PSG were desperate for is Silva. Ibra was just the deal breaker for us

Ibra: 'I'd like Milan return'
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sensationally left the door open for a return to Milan. “If they need help, then they know where to find me.”
The striker moved to PSG over the summer in a combined €70m deal with Thiago Silva, but made it clear he was not happy about the departure.
“I want the best for Milan. I was very happy there and felt like I was at home,” Ibra said in today’s Press conference while on international duty with Sweden.
“Milan are one of the clubs I’d love to come back to, if I could choose today. Usually I don’t go back to one of my old teams, but I’d like to return to Milan. It’s a fantastic club.
“I hope the team does well and gets back to winning ways. I can only hope it will all work out for the best.
“If Milan need help, then they know where to find me.”

According to wiki Zlatan only signed a 3-year deal. It's not impossible that in 18 months or so time, when he only has 1 year left on his contract, that we could bring him back for "cheap". He'll only be 32 at that point then too.
