There don't seem to be any direct quotes in the article above, but that story's been circulating in the Italian press for a couple of days. None have (that I recall) direct quotes from Gila, but they all make the same point: that Gila is afraid of dropping further down the list if a world class striker is brought in.
A couple of the articles have gone on to say that his laywer would be meeting with Juve officials to discuss a transfer there, because Gila was a Zebra fan as a child. (The article quoted above says his lawyer is meeting with Fester today and that the only place Gila wants to go is Juve).

Gila hasn`t proven anything jet, so I would not be so sad to see him leave. He just don`t works good here. I would be glad to see him play for Juve if we could get out of the deal Buffon.
Also, Gilardino has that certain "Vieri-factor". Remember Vieri at Inter? Has that man scored even one single goal for them against Milan? I don`t remember, maybe he did, but none of some importance. The same I feel with Gila. He never scored for us in big matches (only a few times to be precise,..ManUtd for ex.). I `m sure he would not score for Juve either. And it`s a great feeling watching a derby match when you know the opponent main striker won`t score...

He used to score plenty against the big 3 (including us) when he was at Parma. I don't think it really has to do with anything rather than the fact that it's because he's playing for Milan, which DEFINATELY is not at the same level as Parma.
He needs more confidence in himself more then anything else, because he caves easily under pressure.
Or maybe he just can't seem to 'click' with Milan, if you can understand what I'm trying to say, maybe we are not the right team for him and Juve are, who knows?

Gila chiama pure l'Inter
Gazzetta suggests that Adriano - Gila swop is a possibility.

If Juve want him as much as the press are making it out to be and Milan really want to sell, then we should press them to make somewhere near the region of £20 million, this way we won't make a big loss on him

Gila "cannot guarantee" Milan stay
Alberto Gilardino has told Milan he is sick of being treated as a flop and is looking at other alternatives. “I cannot guarantee I will stay.â€
The striker moved from Parma for around £18m in 2005, but has struggled to live up to that price-tag and in two seasons has managed just two Champions League goals.
With Ronaldo no longer cup-tied, Filippo Inzaghi on fire, Kaka moved to a more advanced role and reports that Andriy Shevchenko will return after his spell at Chelsea, there is less and less room for Gila.
“The situation is simple. I am happy at Milan, but I cannot guarantee I will stay here,†he told the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport.’
“I have a long contract and an excellent rapport with the Rossoneri environment, but anything can happen in football and I am evaluating other options. I would not be honest if I denied that.
“For me the faith of the club and the Coach are indispensable. In the past I had that and would like for it to be there in the future.â€
The decision to drop him in favour of Inzaghi – who scored a decisive brace – for the Champions League Final against Liverpool seems to have left its mark.
“I want to be able to play without all these doubts being raised on my first error or negative performance. At the age of 25 I want to play consistently and repay Milan for the investment they made in me.
“I thought I would play in Athens, I admit it. When I found out I was on the bench, I was disappointed,†he confessed.
“But I always put the team above all personal considerations and just tried to concentrate so I could do my best in the few minutes that Carlo Ancelotti granted me. Lifting the trophy put all that disappointment behind me.â€
With constant rumours of new hitmen from Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o and Shevchenko coming to San Siro, will Gilardino ask to be sold if another forward arrives?
“I am not afraid of competition. I have always sought my space with great champions like Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Christian Vieri and Ronaldo. If the competition is fair and the player who is in the best shape goes on to the field, then I have no problems.â€
This week there were claims in the newspapers that Gilardino had openly offered himself to Inter, but he and his agent denied these suggestions.
“That is absolutely not true,†the former Parma man told the ‘Gazzetta’. “I can pledge to the Milan fans, who I get along very well with, that I have not approached anyone, let alone Inter. A few supporters jeered me this season, but the majority are behind me. I want to repay them with many goals.â€
Among those linked with a summer bid for Gilardino are the new Juventus and Barcelona, who are probably seeking a replacement for Eto’o.
“These are great clubs and I am pleased to hear of their interest, but Milan are the top club. It’s difficult to imagine walking out on them and they are my first choice. However, if I didn’t feel they had faith in me, then I would look elsewhere.â€
When asked point blank if he felt he was always facing tests of his abilities and that there were doubts around him, the World Cup winner answered truthfully.
“Yes, I feel that I am in doubt and in all honesty I don’t know why. I think this is surreal and at times it seems like an incredible situation.â€
In two seasons Gilardino has scored 29 Serie A goals for Milan and was their top scorer this term on 12 in 30 appearances.

I want to give Gilardino another (last) chance. This season everybody had kinda a bad season, and Gila is still young. All he needs is faith, believe, and support.
If he fails next season, I guess he is better with a midtable team, like Parma, where he is the one star, not like in Milan were we have many stars.

Alberto Gilardino has been back at Milanello following his meniscus operation and has only one thought on his mind: 'I have always wanted to stay at Milan and still want to.'
MILAN - After a day at Milanello as he recovers from his meniscus operation, Alberto Gilardino spoke to Milan Channel: 'I am pleased, I had 10 days holiday where I recovered from the meniscus operation. I have had positive checks. I will train over these days. I had the operation because I had some bother with it at the end of the season, now I am fine and I am recovering thanks to Roberto Morosi and his medical staff's help. I want to be 100% before taking the pitch.
'I have always wanted to stay at Milan and still want to. It's disappointing to read things that are not true, it puts my professional position at a bit of a risk because I have always behaved in the best way in the Milan shirt. I am especially disappointed for the Rossoneri fans, the club which has always had great faith in me, the things that have been said on television and written in the papers are absolutely not true. I still want to wear the Milan shirt next season.'
Where some things in the interview after the final in Athens changed around? 'Yes, some things were. It's normal for me to vent what I feel for a series of reasons after a match such as the one in Athens. You know better than me that a young player like me really wants to play and make a contribution to the team. For my part, maybe it was not the best thing to hold that interview and a lot of things were changed around which leaves me unhappy especially for the coach, the club and the people who read it. But I repeat, my conscience is clear. I know what I want so there are no problems. I am happy to remain here and start this extraordinary season that take us to play in the really important European Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup.'
Another chance? Milan still believes in him, so do i.
Form may die, but class never does. Lets hope we get back the old Gila back.
But, if we dont, then i am sorry but, bye bye Gila!

Gila commits to Milan
Alberto Gilardino has announced that he wants to stay at Milan despite being paired with a summer exit.
The striker had recently declared that he was unhappy with the club, as he did not feel they had faith in his abilities and added that he was ready to leave if his concerns weren’t satisfied.
The Rossoneri management initially announced that an offer of £17m would be needed to convince them to let the player leave the San Siro, but things seem to have changed since then.
“Milan are the only club on my mind,†Gilardino told Sky Italia. “I have heard of Juve’s interest, as well as other outfits, but honestly the Rossoneri are my first thought.
“I want to be part of the squad for preseason training and I hope I will soon return to my best condition. I want the next one to be a great season.
“Luckily I have clarified all issues with the club, therefore I want to guarantee that I will stay here, out of respect for this outfit and the supporters,†continued the Italy international.
Milan pipped Inter in the race to sign striker David Suazo and Gilardino is pleased with the Honduran’s arrival.
“He is a great player and I have always liked him. He is strong and fast, I am sure he will be very useful,†declared the former Parma man.
“Would my position change if Samuel Eto’o were to join Milan? I don’t know, these things are not for me to decide. In any case I think I will stay here.â€
The striker also could not avoid questions on Kaka, who remains a reported target for Real Madrid.
“I think he will stay here. I know how much affection Ricardo feels for this outfit, I am sure we will both meet up on July 23,†concluded Gilardino.

Exactly what I said on the match thread.
Gila is not mentally strong enough to handle being Milan's primary source of goals, playing alone upfront, maybe he was that for Parma, but Parma are not Milan.
For him to succeed with us, then he needs to play along someone that will support him and take off all the burden that is placed on him when he plays alone up front like Ronaldo or Sheva, he needs a big player next to him at Milan, that's the only way I can see him making it with us, unless he manages to grow some b@lls over the course of this season

At Parma there was no real pressure, he and his team were expected to be around mid-table every year. Now you're asking this same kid to carry a club the size of Milan single handedly, in terms of goals.

On Gilardino:
"The fans were quite harsh on Alberto, they are spoiled because they support the number one club in the world, so even when someone fails to control the ball well they would react like that... but I've heard that also happens to the tenors at the Parma theatre," and smiles.

Yes, maybe at Parma there was no pressure to handle and here he can't be the prime source of goals, but, in a hursh way, that also means that he is not good enough for us. I think Gila is a bad first-team player for important matches, and an even worser bench player. He is no real "Joker",..

Weah was a proven striker in europe that use to score in big games too. The guy won the best european and best world striker awards. Gila scored just two goals in two seasons in the CL (both of them unimportant of course). Any comparison between him and Gila is just wrong.
If you want to compare players, do it when they are were in the same age. At 25 in Juve (a big club almost the same as Milan

) Pippo was considered one of the most lethal strikres in the world scoring many goals both in serie a and CL. When he moved to Milan he was unlucky and had several big injuries. He didn't played half season in his first year in Milan so this statistic is useless considering how many games he played in these first two seasons. But when he was fully fit he was lethal (just remember the 2002-03 CL campaign. 12 goals in 16 games

). The guy is the best Italian goalscorer in the european competitions ever and you can alway count on him when you have an important game (even at 34

).
The point is: at Gila's age these guys were at peak. Nobody questioned them and they were scoring as much on the biggest stage - the CL, while Gila's pants is wet the minute he's hearing the words 'Champions League'. Any comparison between them and him is offensive for them.
We just keep making excuses for him. Midfield that we have is a dream for any striker. Milan can't afford to have someone just for the situations when we play with two strikers (and even then he may fail), especially when he's the one who was supposed to be our main striker. If he only can play with a partner then it's a disabillity. Sure he scored 17 goals in the league but it was mainly because of Sheva. Since Sheva left he just can't handle mentally with the 'to be the main striker' pressure and we can all see the results on the field. Plus you can't count on him at in the CL. Again, a team like Milan can't afford all this.

Kakas the exception? IMO Gila is the exception...there are tons of strikers being at the top of their game before they were 25. Del Pierro, Rául, Vieri, Ronaldo just to name some very popular ones...
