Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Mario Yepes can fill in the central defense positions very well, but not like Thiago Silva does. Did he really say he doesn't rule out Real Madrid? What about his words he was staying at least until 2014 or so?

call me crazy, but I would love to see this guy played at attacking mid! did you see that run from defense towards the end of the first half against Juve, when he took on three defenders, proceeded to nutmeg a player, and play Borriello forward with a backheel!?
I'd bet he'd be a beastly center forward!
Zambro, Nesta, Sokratis, Antonini
Ambro Pirlo Seedorf
Pato Dinho

He's obviously more technically gifted then most defenders.
But it would be a total waste playing him as a striker. His positional sense, awerness and tackling ability make for a great defender.

But sticking him up front as emergency CF at the end of a game where we're behind might not be the worst of ideas, especially if one of the fullbacks we field is more defensive than a wingback.

Just wanted to talk about this amazing defender. He is without a doubt in my personal top 5 Central defenders in the world.
Fantasic player.
QUOTE
Reminds me a lot of Carvalho with speed, positioning and ability to burst forward when needed.
Needs to become main defender at Milan but he is learning of one of the greats
QUOTE
He is very good.
David Luiz is another one to keep an eye on, watched him on ESPN playing for Brazil the other day and he looked very good.
QUOTE
He is an excellent defender. Looked a little out of place when he first joined Milan but stepped up when Alessandro Nesta was injured. Playing alongside the man who I regard to be the best defender I have seen in my lifetime I'd say Thiago Silva is currently better although Nesta has terrible knee's and a permanent back problems as well as being 34. I'm just hoping Milan get Nesta on another contract.
The above is mixed in with the usual "He is pretty great, he's nearly half as good as Paul McShane" comments whenever a defender is talked about.

Agreed, Thiago Silva or Bonera as CB is the difference between day and night. Good thing is that it's a group stage match, and we are playing away. It's the game getting points is the least required.

Oct 17 2010, 03:59 AM
While it's true that in theory this are the hardest points to get, they're also the most valuable since we'd be making Madrid drop them.
I hope Sokratis gets in as CB.

Well, he seems to be stubborn, but unlike Carlo, who knew the team better then anyone in the world, Allegri's judgment is based on a few months, or even worse; he gave Sokratis only one match, Yepes not even that.
William405
Oct 19 2010, 04:20 PM
Well Yepes is our 4th choice cb or so.
And Han I argue that if allegri wants to take a risk,he should pick Sokratis. From what I've seen Sokratis is a better defender than bonera.I kinda see him as a young thiago silva(don't know why),he's got great qualities when playing in his natural position.I don't know if you we're being serious but I responded as so

AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has revealed he turned down a move to Real Madrid this summer because of his wife.
Jose Mourinho had been keen to take the 26-year-old Brazil international to Madrid when he left Inter during the summer, but he eventually turned to Ricardo Carvalho from Chelsea.
"It was my wife who said no to Madrid," Thiago Silva told Corriere dello Sport. "She prefers Milan to Madrid. I like Milan too and so does my son.
"There were other opportunities. Before Milan, Inter got in touch, but then I never heard from anyone and so I joined Milan."
Having committed to Milan, he now hopes to spend the rest of his career at the club.
"I hope to stay as long as possible. I would have no problems playing until I am 40 like Maldini. I owe plenty to [Paolo] Maldini and Sandro [Nesta]. They have been exceptional with me. Playing with Nesta makes me better."As for Maldini, he has always been an example."

You can't say that for sure, you also cannot predict that the incident which lead to the injury will happen again ie, when he fell awkwardly after defending that corner.
Fact here is Thiago had no business being on that pitch yesterday, Allegri rests Ibra? Thiago is just as important, if not more. Just ridiculous.
I had my gripes with Carlo in the past, but some of the ametourish management Allegri brings to the table makes me long for the days when we actualy had a competent coach behind the team that wouldn't make such ridiculous mistakes

The fact that it was bound to happen makes it even worse imho. O'monstro often pushes himself to the limit EVERY game. Are we supposed to assume he'd take it easy this time around? And Allegri, knowinh how often he gets injured as does all milan fans STILL plays him???
Seriously I'm not sure about this guy. Also Ron wasn't at all given a fair shake at all. If anything Al set him up to fail. Ambro, Pirlo GATTUSO AND Seedorf? What the ****? Exactly who was supposed to make the offensive runs? Not Robinho who was miles away on the other side I hope!
Not a Dinho fan by any means and I'll feel nothing if and when he goes but this is rather unfair. If he's being given a chance it should be real. Also what about Odu, Merkel, the guy assaulted by iBra, Verdi and beretta? Not to mention papa and Janku? Seriously Barca won the other night with guys I'd never seen in my life. THAT is how a big club operates. Not the way ooooooh let's run down to the corner flag shitlegri does

Reviewing your arguments; yes, it was a stupid and amateurish move. But one has to learn from something. We chose Allegri, and we all knew what we get. Now we have to stick with him and not do a Leonardo again (even if IMO Allegri is better then Leo).

leo had a fraction of Allegri's assets and got us to third and to the CL quarters. iBra wins 90% of Allegri's games for him. Imagine we got a coach who had iBra AND got the best out of Dinho!

Leo vs Allegri?
The question is do you want a coach who is very strong tactically but lacks in other deparments or do you want a coach who is very strong in motivational techniques but lacks in other departments.

6 weeks is not a disaster. he could be back after the January break just like Pato.
But 6 months? ****** big difference. if it's true I will ******* cry!
PS: it's laughable to blame Allegri IMO. in football **** like this could happen ANY time.
