A thread about Thiago Silva was started on the Villa forum I use (not by me), thought some might be interested to hear the responses.

QUOTE
Just wanted to talk about this amazing defender. He is without a doubt in my personal top 5 Central defenders in the world.
Fantasic player.

QUOTE
Reminds me a lot of Carvalho with speed, positioning and ability to burst forward when needed.

Needs to become main defender at Milan but he is learning of one of the greats

QUOTE
He is very good.

David Luiz is another one to keep an eye on, watched him on ESPN playing for Brazil the other day and he looked very good.

QUOTE
He is an excellent defender. Looked a little out of place when he first joined Milan but stepped up when Alessandro Nesta was injured. Playing alongside the man who I regard to be the best defender I have seen in my lifetime I'd say Thiago Silva is currently better although Nesta has terrible knee's and a permanent back problems as well as being 34. I'm just hoping Milan get Nesta on another contract.

The above is mixed in with the usual "He is pretty great, he's nearly half as good as Paul McShane" comments whenever a defender is talked about.

My greatest fear is Bonera as CB. And I know Allegri won't surprise us all and put Yepes in for a change.

Agreed, Thiago Silva or Bonera as CB is the difference between day and night. Good thing is that it's a group stage match, and we are playing away. It's the game getting points is the least required.

While it's true that in theory this are the hardest points to get, they're also the most valuable since we'd be making Madrid drop them.

I hope Sokratis gets in as CB.

Yeah,I hope to see Allegri taking a risk...His weakness is that he doesn't have balls.

Taking a risk would be playing Bonera, not Sokratis. I don't like how he's playing favourites with players

Well, he seems to be stubborn, but unlike Carlo, who knew the team better then anyone in the world, Allegri's judgment is based on a few months, or even worse; he gave Sokratis only one match, Yepes not even that.

Well Yepes is our 4th choice cb or so.
And Han I argue that if allegri wants to take a risk,he should pick Sokratis. From what I've seen Sokratis is a better defender than bonera.I kinda see him as a young thiago silva(don't know why),he's got great qualities when playing in his natural position.I don't know if you we're being serious but I responded as so (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Sokratis should be on the bench tonight, not Yepes.
