We do, we just complaing it's too hot.. then in winter we complain it's too cold. Then when we aren't complaining about the weather, we complain about how cr@p out sports teams are. Being English is quite delightful really.

About v2 - I'm going to update the forum first, iron out any problems and then stick the new site on the front of it a few days later (as there will probably be a few issues). It's a pretty big job - we're jumping quite a few versions of IPB in this upgrade so there's quite a few things that can go wrong

Just a few of the things you'll notice after the forum upgrade:

- A lot quicker
- MF Arcade
- Custom MF skin
- Personal profiles
- Buddy lists
- Rich Text Editor when posting
- RSS feeds to the popular sub-forums
- New avatars (thanks mchanna!)

+ loads more. The site will be down for around a day, and I'll probably upgrade it some time next week.

Seriously, 100 would be too little a jump from 50. Most of the forums I'm on allow 250 so if you can allow 250 messages it would ease things up a lot. Plus, since you allow message archiving, members can always backup their inbox. Speaking of which, there are only a handful of regular members who use the PMs, so my humble vote would be for 250.

Hi there, brand new to the milanfan.com club.. One of my biggest issues with the acmilan site and all supporting sites is that I cannot find one place where I can see all the current players owned, part-owned by milan which includes all the youths. Ideally on this site, i would create a database which would allow the users to add/remove players as we find out about them.. Even wikipedia which is great doesn't have this information.. when i sent this to acmilan, i never even got a response.

considering that galliani has stated that his plan moving forward was to grow the internal youth into the team, i find it sad that unlike other teams (wont mention them) we no nothing about who's coming up and where he's playing...

just my 2 cents, will continue to read through the forums and give you my feedback.. overall great site

FYI, the Milan website does have rosters of all the youth teams. We've also got a thread here in the 'players' section specifically for youth team (and sometimes former youth team and now loaned) players.

The co-ownership/loaned stuff is a little more complicated. I'm not sure any club has that stuff on their website (though it would be helpful!). Wiki is more or less up to date with the information but is never entirely trustworthy.

This might indeed be a good project to take on.

You mean private messages? They are always sorted by date for me... But if they are not, you can do it yourself. You can sort them by 'Message Title', 'Sender' or 'Date by clicking on the bold and underlined link above the title, sender name and date as they appear in your inbox.
And you can click on the 'View New Posts' button located top right of every page for new post since your last log-in.

thanks for the info but take example this forum.. it has 32 pages.. when i go, i get page 1 which is to oldest dated message within the forum.. i neeed to go to last page and then scroll down.. what i would like if this exists is that when i click in the forum that the first page is most recent and then works in descending order instead of oldest first and the works in ascending order.
does this make sense?

Sure does. You want the most recent messages on each thread displayed first. I think it can be done in the forum software, and frankly, not only should it help with accessibility and user friendliness, it will save a whole bunch of server bandwidth as well. In fact, it will improve the performance of the site wonders, as the MySQL will have fewer queries to deal with, plus lesser page views.

I wonder if Mike has this in mind. Do ya, Mike?

Can't it (last post) be viewd simply by click the last posted link with the corresponding forum?
( as in click :view new posts: {link on top next to 'My Controls'}
Then click last posted link accordingly... )
Thats what I usully do... seems to work fine for me, unless I am not understanding you completely.

^^ That's pretty much how it should work. The cookies are there to remember things like the last post you read etc. For example, if you're looking at a forum with loads of threads, you'll see the last column 'Last Action'. If you click the text that says 'Last post by:' next to the thread that you want to read, it'll take you there.

Just a quick note, as we're changing servers, the site could be down for more than a day whilst the DNS sorts itself out. This can't be avoided unfortunately (as little as 24h, as much as a few days). But some good(?) news, I'm going to upgrade the forum this weekend.

I hate the wait times, seriously. If I remember correctly, the host I use (and mentioned in one of my previous messages in this thread), allowed for instant propagation of the DNS. Wonder how they did it, but most hosts I see don't. Large, established companies included. Some even take it up to 3 or more days. Horrible.

But changing topics, using the new IPB version sure should be a great experience. Can't wait for the gaming arcade too. Forget modesty this time: I'm about as good as they come when we're talking about playing games.

Done! Still loads to do, but I can do the rest without having the board offline.
