Ehm...

You forgot to mention Destro as well.

Mediaset says we've reached an agreement with Fernando of Porto for June. Obviously it will be a free transfer as his contract expires this year. rolleyes.gif

Err...that's Radja Naingollan for 9.5 million that would give 50% of his ownership. You realise this means he is being valued at 19 million? Ridiculous. I wouldn't want him here for that money.

Especially when you consider the way co-ownerships are resolved would end up with him costing even more. Well done to Cagliari for that deal.

Belgian players go for a song, Jack. They're the most in-demand player around, and they're not cheap.

I learned about the Fernando story last night and squealed. I've been wanting us to sign him for about 5 years. I'd be over the moon if we get him but I also heard Napoli are in for him and may be willing to pay the 8M to release him now.

Which would be yet another one lost.

Was going to ask x-off, but since you seem to know about him more, is he really that good? And what type of player is he?
X-Offender
He used to be a beast 3-4 years ago, many clubs wanted him I think. Don't know what's going on with him lately.

Hard-hitting DM with excellent positional sense. Can play as a sweeper in front of the back 4 or even in defence. It's curious he hasn't been plucked by a bigger club by now, but he really stood out in a CL group match at Old Trafford where he absolutely owned Wayne Rooney at his peak.

I thought he'd go onto better things but he stayed at Porto.

You might think we already have De Jong, and we do, but he's the only player like that we have who's worth a damn. Both of them together would give us a strong, reliable, robust midfield with perhaps Poli or Honda in front of them for creative qualities.

Still plays as regularly for Porto as he always did (every match in Porto's spell in the CL), but moves just didn't materialise and he stayed.

Beast is a good word. Absolute monster. But with composure too.

Spalletti sets sights on AC Milan job

Hm, I honestly would take him over anyone else that's been mentioned so far.

Another one we'd baulk at the wages of. He's very similar in terms of his career to Prandelli where Serie A is involved but he's done quite well at Zenit if maybe underperforming a little compared to the budget.

Yeah I'd probably take him.

Pretty sure we were fairly heavily linked with Balzaretti during the last Euros too.

Spalletti would be great, but as Danny said wages might be a problem.

But loaning him isn't really what we should be going for.

We'll probably still be covering most of his wage, as Samp surely cannot afford what we're paying him and he'll come back in the summer and we'll be back to square one.

I'm sure some mid-table Serie A/EPL side would want him for 5-8m
Fillipo Simone
Are you sure? I don't think they'd take him for more then 5m actually.

If Samp (or anyone) pays part of Matri's salary and takes him off our hands at the end of the season, I personally will be happy, even more so if we get 5M out of it. Given his salary and performance, I can't see us doing much better anyway. And if this does not happen, we will keep burning cash and (even worse) see him take up a spot in the pitch for more games (so Max and Fester can try to prove it was not a huge mistake to get him).

If Matri joins Sampdoria on loan (+ option to buy), then Petagna will return to Milan. Lazio want to sign both Constant and Matri. Milan have allegedly asked for Lulic (and money) in return.

Zaccardo is reportedly close to joining West Bromwich

Besiktas wants Robinho.
Fillipo Simone
All good news.

Giaccherini had a solid Confed Cup and is (with the help of Prandelli) usually a NT player. That counts more then a Matri.
kurtsimonw
I like Lulic. If it means getting rid of Constant we must do it!

Lulic would carry in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 as he's above all other things, a LW

Matri, Robinho and Zaccardo out.

Rami and Honda in. I think we still need another good CM, too bad we once again lost out on a target and to Roma no less

How about we fully promote Cristante instead?
Danny
I gather Fernando signed a contract extension at Porto. I'm heartbroken if that's true but it's not been confirmed anywhere.

Especially given recent quotes from his agent:

QUOTE
"I read in the papers that Inter, Juventus, Napoli and Fiorentina are interested.

"Fernando would be very happy to play in Italy. I can not talk much about it.

Wonder why our name was excluded given we know Galliani met with his representatives. But he clearly wants a move to Serie A, with the top 4 clubs in the country, Roma aside, all wanting him. We'd have to push the boat out to beat them to him.

Hold on! He says "not for sale and there are no negotiations underway". So, negotiations could start in the next few days and he could go on loan. 96.gif

Yes, once again his statement is useless.

We're interested in Essien. He could come on loan until June. Apparently we've already agreed terms with the player. He can also play in CL.

He was crap with Madrid last season, and has barely played with Chelsea this season. Don't want him.
Fillipo Simone
Hmh, let's see:

* Real Madrid reject ✔
* past his prime ✔
* possibly low price ✔
* considerable age ✔

Definitively a Milan buy. Also more brings more muscles, which is what Allegri wants.

Essien is an oustanding player who was signed by Jose as backup at Real because he knows what he can do. He played plenty while there.

I'd bite you arm off for Michael Essien if we can't get Fernando. He's only 31 and one of the best in the world in his position on his day.

Yes, I rate him that highly.

He's been a finished player for a while (my opinion).

I think he still has it in him but sitting on the bench doesn't do much good.

Remember he had a bad injury at Chelsea which put him out for ages, and they signed guys like Hazard, Ramires Mikel etc which put him down the pecking order when he eventually came back.

And Real have Alonso and signed Essien as cover - and he did play a lot there.

I think he needs a run of games, but if he gets his old fitness and sharpness back there are few as effective in his position.

He and De Jong, because let's face it we're not beating Juve, Napoli, Fio and Inter to Fernando's signature, isn't the worst pair in midfield.

He's still miles better than Muntari. I'd take him if it means Muntari out

Agreed. his long injuries at Chelsea a few years ago were the end, he hasn't been the same since. Doesn't have that same energy and drive in his game.
X-Offender
Galliani:

  • Vergara won't go to Reggina because a non-EU player in his first year in Italy cannot be transferred to a Serie B side;
  • Gabriel may actually stay. We'll see whether him or Amelia will leave;
  • Matri could leave, as we're too many in attack (you're the one who signed him, dickwad!);
  • If we sign a new mid, he should be able to play in the CL.

WBA want Matri on loan. Fiorentina are also interested.

Worst piece of business Galliani has made in the last few years. Some might say Ricardo Oliveira takes the cake, but the guy had an excellent record in Spain and we were all hopeful about him. It just didn't work out. Matri, on the other hand, was a tool, everyone knew that, and yet the idiot went and gave €12 million to our rivals and a ridiculous €2.5 million contract to the player. Not to mention he's 29, not exactly an investment for the future.
Fillipo Simone
Completely agreed. Oliveira had potential.

Milan have confirmed that Massimiliano Allegri has left his position as Coach, after three-and-a-half years at the club.

The 46-year-old was widely believed on Sunday evening to have managed his last game for the Rossoneri, after the club fell to a surprise 4-3 reverse at strugglers Sassuolo.

On from Barbara Berlusconi labelling change at the club as ‘necessary and urgent’ and Milan sources indicating an announcement would come on Monday, the Diavolo have communicated their decision on the matter.

“Milan announce that it has relieved of their duties as Coach of the first team, with immediate effect, Massimiliano Allegri and his staff,” Milan’s statement released this morning reads.

“Milan would like to thank Mr Allegri and his staff for the work done and wishes them the best of success professionally.

“The team is temporarily assigned to the technical guidance of Mauro Tassotti.”

Allegri took over at San Siro in June 2010 and went on to win the Scudetto in his first season, before finishing second in 2011-12 and managing third place last season.

Farewell, Allegri.
