Very. laugh.gif Actually, now that I see my last post, there are more than a few typos. But hey, since I'm the law here in these parts of the wood, I'll file these as alternate spellings for these words. Ah, power. Pure unadulterated power:

Jack Bauer
QUOTE
Milan President Silvio Berlusconi reportedly told Inter fans “you will regret” signing Antonio Cassano. “He won’t take long to cause chaos in the locker room.”

FantAntonio moved to Inter in a swap with Giampaolo Pazzini this summer, though the Rossoneri also paid €7m cash as part of the deal.

“You seem affable and balanced. It’s a shame you have only one defect: you support Inter and not Milan,” Berlusconi reportedly told magistrate Ingroia in Palermo today.

“You Interisti will regret having taken Cassano off us. He won’t take long to cause chaos in the locker room.”

The quotes were from Il Fatto Quotidiano, who claimed they overheard the conversation.

It has never been entirely clarified why Cassano demanded a transfer, but he launched an attack on Vice-President Adriano Galliani in his Inter presentation Press conference.

Yep. It just depends whether his performances are at a high level before the chaos starts.

He fucked up everywhere, yet I am inclined to believe he will feel at home with inter. They compliment each other so well!!

Tick-tock, and suddenly Cassano+7MM for Pazzo seems a masterstroke

Lol, really?

It was still the stupidest move of the summer.

You really think a coach like Mourinho for example would stand for his BS and the disruption of his dressing room?

If Cassano was creating problems then I still wouldn't have given him what he wanted, simply on principle. You don't want to be at Milan? Fine then, you don't train with the rest of the first team and you're in the stands indefinately. Either get your act together or deal with the consequences.

PS. A direct swap would have looked smart right about now. Giving Inter 7m + a superior player to the one we got? Never will it look like a masterstroke
Fillipo Simone
Naah, it won't ever seem like a masterstroke. Even if Cassano starts scoring own goals like Gallas wanted to.

Well, do you honestly believe we would give him away plus 7MM to a direct rival just because Galliani got high that night?

To me, yes, because the 7m gift we gave Inter was just plain stupid. And let's not forget here, that as much as Cassano was unwanted at Milan, the same goes for Pazzini at Inter wink.gif

Well, Cassano is two years older than Pazzini, is problematic, and just recently had a heart surgery, so his footballing future is still uncertain. That said, €7 million is way too much.

Still he's by far the superior player to Pazzini. A straight swap would have evened the deal out imo. 7m was just stupid

We lost a superior creator, but Cassano's not even in the same universe as Pazini when it comes to an in the box forward.

Wasn't the issue also that Cassano had only 12 months on his contract? 2 years older + causing problems + contract running out means Inter were always in the driving seat.

Anyways, since when was a deal's value decided on the day it's done? If Pazzini scored 15 goals this season and Cassano doesn't do much, gets injured and starts throwing a tantrum over there, I don't think it will be Inter who are doing all the laughing.

We'll see, your're just trying to put a best case scenario, and I could just as easily paint you a terrible one as well which would make the deal even more terrible than it already is, which would be shocking as I don't think we could have done any worse if we tried.

As for Pazzini, he just came off a shocker of a season at Inter, and he was unwanted there as well. I alse heard talk of his contract being terminated!! Inter are laughing all the way to the bank with this one.

As for Cassano vs Pazzini. Fundementally the only better attribute Pazzini has is finishing, on every technical and footballing level I can think of, Cassano is by far the superior player, no matter how you wish to view this. I know you like the guy, but the problem with us is that we have enough finishers on the team, we needed a creative player, so even in that aspect, the deal was just stupid.

Anyway, we'll see how this turns out at the end of the season. For our season's sake, I really hope you're right and I'm wrong on this matter

I know where you're coming from, han. You're pissed that we let go the only creative player we had in our team besides Montolivo. I feel you, since I love creative players as well. Constant, Emanuelson, Boateng, they don't even enter into that category. If there's one thing that our attack has lacked so far, that's vision and creativity. We have prima punta's and runners, but none of them are able to create that something out of nothing that Ibra and Cassano could.

That said, there was nothing we could do about Cassano. The guy wanted out no matter what. I absolutely agree €7 million was way too much, but it's not like we could have invested those money into someone better at that point.

I wasn't painting a best case scenario, the point is that anything can happen in football.

As for the deal, you have to take into account Inter paid big money for Pazzini while we got Cassano for free. It shouldn't matter, but it always does in football.

Yup, my thought exactly. biggrin.gif I've said this before, we should have made him FatAntonio instead of what he was used to be called. 1 year without a minute of play would have sealed the deal. Besides, the only thing worse than giving him to Juventus was gift-wrapping him to Inter. And that too with a bucket full of cash.

What are Pazzini's strengths exactly?

He's a run-of-the-mill Serie A poacher. Great at mid-table teams, blends in as a squad player in top sides.

Cassano could have been dealth with easily. And after all, what player does not want to play football at the end of the day? The case of how City handled Tevez should be used as a guide of how to handle these idiot players who think they're bigger than the club they play for

He's a good finisher, he could have a role like Pippo in the Pippo-Sheva combination if we just would have a more creative build-up in the midfield.

Dealt easily? How do you know that? Cassano is a nut case, he's harder then Tevez. We really can't say what would be if...I really don't see any point in keeping him other then playing the big boss.

all that money yet he still refused to get on the pitch when his coach asked him to and he still flew to Argentina when his heart desired.

City were paying him all that cash yet they still played hardball with us in January and decided to keep him while he still was AWOL and they were paying his massive sums.

They had no gaurantees that he'd get his act together yet they still didn't give him what he wanted.

The point of me mentioning how much money he was on is more to do with the crazy amount City could sue him for if he continued to refuse to play.

City also don't have money worries so they could afford to let someone on that much rot. They even turned down a £40m bid from Corinthians.

Not really han, Carlos was in negotiations with PSG this summer, yet the same was not finalized due to his wage demands. Surprisingly, PSG declared that much. I guess it is because they found an option in Ibra and Lavezzi.

I think it is difficult to draw the same measuring stick for Cassano and Tevez. The former's experience with Roma, Madrid and Sampdoria are all live examples of what a nut case he is. Especially the Sampdoria case, where he had his contract rescinded by a club that latter struggled to stay up and was demoted.

No, City do not have issues with letting someone rot on the bench because they can cover it. But he was still a major problem for them, they wanted to offload him badly but still stuck to their guns, either they were going to get what they asked for or Tevez would have to stay.

My point is that making that deal with Inter was just plain stupid. We could have held out and gotten a good deal for him he's worth more than 0m that's for sure, the fact is Pazzini was unwanted at Inter as well and they also couldn't afford to keep him on the bench considering his wage.

Getting Pazzini also was a mistake, he's not useful for us. We lost a creative player and got a poacher who is absolutely useless in Allegri's system where the forwards need to provide 90% of the creativity on the pitch. Had Galliani been smart about it he would have held out for a decent offer from Inter and than baught another more suited striker.

Furthermore, I understand that Cassano is crazy, but like I said, he could have been handled. Banished to the stands and not training with the other players so he cannot disrupt them. If he doesn't show up for the solo training, fine him. Simple as that. You should appreciate this method since Mourinho makes use of it on a regular basis wink.gif

PSG are paying Zlatan an astronomical sum each month, I doubt Tevez's request was higher. As for why City were still allowing Tevez to negotiate an xit, I think that for Mancini he would have been good with it going either way (Tevez staying or going), they had made an agreement between each other before the end of last season and Tevez was part of the team for the last few games as well as played a part in those games

The point is City stuck it out against an arrogant piece of **** like Tevez and in the end they came out on top as he's producing some of his best stuff this season. wink.gif

I think we all know what PSG is paying Zlatan, let alone Lavezzi. Why would they need Tevez if they got Zlatan and Lavezzi is the point I am making. Further to cement my point:

QUOTE
PSG chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi was ready to secure a deal for the player in January, but wages proved too much, despite the French Ligue 1 side splashing out on AC Milan duo Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer.

"If the transfer was not sorted out, it was not because he didn't want to come, but because we didn't accept his wage demands," Al-Khelaifi told Germany's Sportbild.

"He wanted to come. We don't pay too big wages to our players. Last winter Carlos Tevez asked too much and didn't match the club's philosophy. So we refused."

They stuck to Tevez because he has an expensive contract with them, one which could not be matched by any other club. Tevez himself did well to go back with his tail between his legs after he found out that no club was willing to match what he gets at City.

Tevez was willing to go down to about 4 to 5m when he was negotiating with us. Maybe he wasn't willing to lower his wage so much for PSG because he saw them as beneath him.

Anyway, the PSG deal and the wage negotiations with them were not my point. My point was that in the end, it was City who got what they wanted and not Tevez. They made the saying "the Club is always bigger than the player" more than just a simple saying, they demonstrated it.

The club is always bigger than the player, yes, that is why we let go of Cassano. I believe had Cassano stayed on, he would have turned you against him by his antics. Such was the case with Sampdoria, Madrid and Roma.

Was Tevez really willing to lower his salary for Milan? At the time, he might have wanted that shift because of the friction between him and his club. But I think when he sat down to contemplate, he found it better to stay put and earn 250K a week versus pocket change from Milan. Kaka, despite his love for Milan didn't agree with the transfer back as well.
