This is coming from the guy who has Ronaldo as his avatar? No. The exact same thing in January almost, was world-class then went average and then awful but you supported him. He was as old, as past it etc

Sheva is not 'crap' you are just completely bitter about the way he left which I respect your opinion in. However, I don't think you can call a player like Sheva that previous or now.

My being a fan of Ronaldo has nothing to do with this discussion and if you're going to continue to be this hostile without provocation just indicate in the affirmative and I'll leave you and Giancarlo to agree on everything cool.gif

Ronaldo is perhaps the greatest player in our generation who has surmounted odds that the likes of $h!tchel$ki could only dream about. In the end he has undoubtedly fallen from hie lofty position (his fault) but I'd take a fit Ronaldo over $$$$$heva any day....at least I'd be guarranteed some goals.

Of course $heva's not total crap. He does well for the Ukraine and would surely score a few goals for Milan....If we're fortunate they would be decisive.

What I mean when I say that he's CRAP is that BY our standards and in harmony with our ambitions he's not our guy. He is a shadow of himself. How dark that shadow is remains to be seen. But as Boban said he's "Reheated soup" The "soup" could have tasted great...but as time passes it WILL spoil and the same applies to $heva. Why settle for a di$h that was once great when you can go to the store/restauraunt and gen another fanta$tic di$h?? Especially when the chef's ma$terpiece is still in the oven and you don't know how your pie from that Genoa restauraunt is going to taste wink.gif

Wasn't he put more as a forward in the Portugual NT regarding Euro 2008? I could be wrong about that...

But he flopped in the Euro 2008. That game against Germany was quite awful.

Yeah did mean to add he was up there more for Portugal.

United don't play like that though, at least last season. That's what they were lacking and what I feel they have gained in Berbatov - a big centre forward. Rooney and Tevez do a lot of hardwork but I don't see them as out and out finishers.

I don't think anyone could expect Ronaldo to do what he did last season this season either, even though I wouldn't be too surprised if he did.
Tennie
Cristiano Ronaldo is not the same player for the Portuguese NT that he is for Manchester United. The marking seems to be a lot tighter in international games than it is in EPL games. Italy didn't have too much trouble with him in the recent Italy-Portugal friendly -- Quaresma was much more of a threat.

In no way was I being hostile towards you, at least If you felt I was I didn't mean it that way! I pointed out you liked Ronaldo (he is in your avatar). The saga of him is very similar to Shevchenko in my eyes, a gamble. You called Sheva 'crap' and I felt that was harsh as you gave Ronaldo the chance last time.

Personally I think Ronaldo is rather overrated, and a fully match-fit Shevchenko I would choose over Ronaldo but that's another debate. That's a difference of opinion I'm not too bothered by that.

I do get slightly agrieved when I hear accusations over Sheva because of the way he left. We don't call Maldini crap, useless etc Why? Because he never left Milan.

Now, thanks for explaining that but I was running off what I knew 'crap' meant so there was always going to be some confusion for me there!

Speaking of Quaresma... he had his debut against Locarno. 2-2 draw... terrible performance by Inter tho. This was a second tier Swiss side... Inter went 2 goals down.

Honestly, I think he's gonna flop.

The facts are what? Kurt said it well enough. Shevchenko actually didn't so bad in London as most want to think.

I thought Sheva did "meh" on the field against Bologna. Meaning... eh... so-so... he's not rubbish. He'll play better with time. What obvious failings exactly? He played one game and you're already writing him off. I'm sure Ancelotti will test out 4-3-1-2 more often...

You're just angry and you have Ronaldo in your avatar. That says enough.

I'd rather pick Shevchenko then porky right now. But I guess you were fine when Ronaldo transferred over from Real Madrid in the condition he was in. unsure.gif
Of course I was fine with ronaldo's arrival. I'm a die hard Ronaldo fan I'm not going to be pretensive or hypocritical about it.

But what I also knew is that ronaldo NEVER lost his scoring touch.....his very last act for Milan was to ensure a goal biggrin.gif
He could be as fat as a blue whale (see Maradonna) and he'd still score. He went to the WC 2006 overweight and unfil and left as the Record WC goalscorer. He still Ran the 100m in 11s love handles and all in REAL Madrid...so of course I'd want him here. Nothing could be sweeter than having the player you love in the team that you love.

I am not angry that $heva came. I am angry that we can accept this monumental mediocrity. You yourself said he was "so-so". If $heva came...alongside a great striker or even a great striking prospect (sorry Borriello doesn't count) I wouldn never have said a word.

Okay I'm not. I never really was a big fan of him... especially in his later years. He let himself go badly in the last few years and had little discipline. While he did score, it was not without the service from Kaka or Seedorf...

I really can't say that Ronaldo would be any better than Sheva. Frankly Sheva has always been in better shape than him. I already said we can't have 4 world class strikers, and we were not going to buy Ronaldinho AND Eto'o (or something else). It was either Ronaldinho or a world class striker.

See my point? Sheva is back-up... and I thought our transfers for attacking players (attack mids, and forwards) was done before Sheva.

I still don't agree with you on this at all.
Tennie
As for the merda friendly, yeah. draw. bad news as far as that goes, but mediaset is indicating that quaresma - who isn't match fit - was the only bright spot on the squad. I wouldn't write the guy off in terms of talent and ability. If he has a temper meltdown or if he and Zlatan get into a big war then..yeah, that could be bad for the merda.

Of COURSE Maldini IS crap in a sense!!! But I'll never say it because he has given sooo much to Milan. He's crap in the sense that he can't keep up with the young guns and especially the speedsters. But he has far too much respect from me to be to harsh on him. The same goes for Inzaghi....despite it being obvious that he isn't what he used to be....we're talking about the scorer of the TWO goals of our latest CL triumph.

$heva on the other hand has accomplished a lot as well but to me (and this is simply my opinion) does NOT deserve the protection from the harsh comments that the other two do because he deserted us when we were at our lowest...So I'll say that $heva is crap all the time while I'll tone down my comments about Inzaghi, Gattuso, Seedorf, Maldini and Nesta when they play poorly...I'll also never welcome any of them in their present diminished condition (I'll take Nesta back for footballing reasons as he's the best defender in the world)....especially if they depart in the manner $hitchel$ki did.
Giancarlo
I'm sorry. I'm just tired of the negativity and I've had enough.

I'm logging off. I don't hold grudges or bad feelings. Sheva left for his family.

Quaresma Shines In Inter Comeback
New Inter signing Ricardo Quaresma made an impressive debut in the friendly against Locarno, helping his team come back to draw after going 2-0 down.
»Comments (19) Print This Story Send To A Friend Contact Us galleria zoom Today new Inter recruit Ricardo Quaresma made his debut for the Nerazzurri and, although the same cannot be said about the team's performance in the friendly against Locarno, he did not disappoint. The two goals that allowed the Italian champions to come back from 2-0 down against the Swiss second division team were created by the Portuguese winger.

He gave the assist for defender Ivan Cordoba's first goal and inspired the move that led to the penalty converted by Julio Cruz. Quaresma made himself dangerous frequently with unpredictable moves, skillful plays, and his trademark trivela shot.

Aside from Cordoba, also Patrick Vieira, Walter Samuel, and Olivier Dacourt all made their return on the pitch after a long injury lay-off. Jose Mourinho can be satisfied about these players' progress and he will hope to have them all back soon.

Where Ronaldo failed with poor work ethic, laziness and general lack of interest Sheva thrilled us with his persistence, determination and commitment to the cause....he was even willing to play on the wing to feed G!la!!!!

Where was Inter's defense?

Cordoba seems to have done better scoring, yet not defending.

Where was the defense? Quaresma made himself dangerous? Against what side? Zambrotta did well enough in a real game.

Quaresma is overrated, egotistical and cares nothing about anyone but himself.

Good one copying and pasting the goal.com article. I think he's gonna flop in the Serie A. Mancini? Mancini a thorn in any opponent's side? You must be kidding.

And in Italy, his tricks won't work. Welcome to the most defense league in the world. He'll get chopped down faster than anything.

Quaresma sounds likes Inter's own version of Tiago to me. You post an op/ed piece saying he "shined"... but who exactly did he shine agianst? who is lucarno? LOL. This isn't the second division Swiss league he's gonna play in.

He's gonna come up against big defensive guns and defensive midfielders (like the ones we got who would chop him down). Personally, he's not very physical...

And don't even try comparing Zambrotta to this guy. Zambrotta is proven world class and he is still world class.

Worse Transfer?
Sheva, Hands Down.
Tennie
Giancarlo, how much have you actually seen Quaresma play?

whoarethepatriots
I have to agree with Tennie here. Quaresma on his day can tear apart any team singlehandedly. He has lacked consistency, but maybe Mourinho will sort that out.

There is no way that you can compare Tiago (or Almiron for that matter). Tiago always was an average player, whereas Quaresma has seemingly limitless raw talent. Quaresma can be a potential world class player if he performs consistently. Tiago was only ever at best a good player

CR in his early Man Utd days lacked consistency. But look at him now, he is a consistent performer, unless of course he plays against a good team and chokes...(generally...)

Primarily Euro Cup. He was less than impressive. Maybe I'm generalizing off too much from that... but I don't think he'll perform in high pressure situations (like against Milan or Juventus).

I'm going to go up against people saying he's one that will tear apart any team. I don't think he has the appropriate skills to do that. He's far from world class. I think the comparison to Tiago is fair.
Tennie
I've seen him play more than that, both for club (Porto) and for his NT. He's far better than Tiago, who I don't think is even close to being a good comparison. Quaresma is better than that. The only Portuguese wingers in Quaresma's league are Simao and C Ronaldo. Talent and technical skill are not the issue with Quaresma; his temper is. That's the wildcard - if he can keep that under control, he's every bit as dangerous -if not moreso - than Cristiano Ronaldo.

I think people are vastly overrating him. Sorry I just won't admit anything about this guy and I refuse to rate him anymore than I have had. Quaresma, mark my words, will just turn out to be a flop (or at best an average player). In defensive heavy Italy, he's going to run into defenders that will seriously mess him up.

Quaresma was taken to Barca and made the 1st Team at the same age that Ronaldo did (i.e. muuuch younger than Ronaldinho) He played well there but out of position and Rijkaard didn't have the patience with him that he ha with Ronaldinho.....Quaresma was far too arrogant himsellf anyway....but it was clear that he has World Class talent.......He was only a couple of months older than CR7 and CR7 said that Quaresma is his hero . Tiago has NEVERbeen in these circles......Quaresma's problem isn't talent or being able to break defenses wiiiide open...he just thinks that he's god and can do whatever he feels like....it's also hard to motivate him for the lesser matches....If Mourinho manages to tame the beast mark my words he'll be a monster...His free-kick technique and dribbling moves are also fantastic...but a bit overdone if he wants to keep his legs on his body in italy

I'm not going to even respond to this the way I want because I know what will happen.

You attacked Antonini calling him rubbish, so I did it to your favorite players. Honestly, Antonini isn't even my favorite player. I'm not going to get into a fight with you anymore. This thread is about Milan's worst transfer (which I honestly can't say any them), not Merda.

Quaresma is overrated "talent" if anything. If anything he will average at best in my eyes. A monster? LOL. No. The kid is gonna get beaten up in this league. He knows that very well. If he wanted to be fully effective and allowed tons of space, he should have moved to the La Liga (again) or Premier League.

Heck, I'm more scared of Julio Baptista, than I am of this guy.

Yes, but got trashed by Gennaro Gattuso. I wish for a full recovery to great form for Gattuso (and maybe Flamini can do the same), so he can slap the guy on the back of his head. We should play Gattuso for the big matches, and I hope he can be played for the derby. So he can deliver the same punishment he gave to Cristiano Ronaldo.

My point has been made.

By the way, I can more than stand other opinions. Stop being fallacious.

Actually, it was the departed Massimo Oddo who marked Cristiano Ronaldo out of not one but two games (second leg CL semi and then an Italy-Portugal friendly).

And a willingness to accept that one is not always right and that opinions differing from our own have vailidity is a very good thing indeed.

I'm not accepting it this time around. I was wrong thinking that was Andrea Dossena...

Gattuso did a few rough tackles of him in the CL.

IMO, I think He will Not Be a Flop Nor a "Best Transfer"..
He may find his way against some small clubs, and sometimes the big clubs.
Just I dont think he will do to Inter what Ibra has done for them.

Sorry, my memories of the games are different.

'I'm not wrong' isn't the very best way of accepting that others have different opinions. You may be right or I may be right. Time will tell. I believe, however, that having seen more of Quaresma than just the recent Euros, I may be in a slightly better position to judge how well he's likely to do.

Flamini has been very solid in the Premier League. Come on, admit you're wrong. Gattuso I assure you will probably start in major games.

Okay maybe he won't flop, but he'll be average. And not only that Inter was ripped off... big time.

Players like Nani have managed to survive in the EPL without too many bad injuries, so I'm sure Quaresma won't have that much trouble in the Serie A. Pato is hardly a giant guy is he? he copes just fine, and he plays in a position where you're against the CBs, instead of against full backs - who generally speaking aren't so big.
Milan Are Brilliant
Quaresma has the potential to be a pretty decent player but he is not going to be the next Ronaldo, he should have moved on from Porto a while ago.

Can see him being more like a Nani well a bit better because he's pretty shambolic!

It's Unfair to compare both, since ROnaldo had better chances than Quaresma had.

I think Quaresma will find it very difficult to ever have a season close to as good as what Ronaldo has just had. But Nani? I'm really unsure why people rate him so highly, United usually only use him in the not so important game, against smaller teams and even then he fails to impress.

No, he's over-rated because he's over-rated. huh.gif England's EPL has got nothing to do with it.

People believe because of Ronaldo. However I could and most could always see Ronaldo had the tricks and if he sorted the end product of his game he would be immense. Now he has done so there is only one player on the globe that is potentially better than him at this moment in time.

There is an opinion is that Quaresma is more talented... but talent to an extent is overrated...hard work is also unserrated to an extent...Ronaldinho is more talented than Kaka hands down but Kaka is the better player because he applies his talent better than Ronaldinho IfI had to choose I'd always keep kaka and I suspect that the ManU fans wouldn't take Quaresma over CR7 either.

Nope ... I just don't consider him as an effective player (no matter how many goals he scored last season).

Tell me how 42 goals in 48 appearances is being over-rated, Honestly? I'm sure if he was in a Barca/Madrid shirt no-one would be saying this.

I mean if he's over-rated currently what does that say about Ronaldinho?

Agreed.

But honestly, no matter how much you like or don't like him surely no one could tell me at this moment in time that Quaresma is bigger than C.Ronaldo?
