There's a huge difference between Bernardo S. and James though.

Everton would most likely accept a loan more where they pay half his wages and even if it is a permanent move, James is desperate to get out of there so he'll accept a wage cut

On the other hand City would still want a huge transfer fee for Silva, not to mention high wages as well.

Silva was never realistic for us, while James is

And while at the start of the summer I was absolutely against us signing him, it's come to a point where I'd want him over the likes of Messias, Corona and all the other mediocrity we've been linked with

Personally I'll pass. First, because I don't think Everton would lend him on loan, and secondly because I don't think they'd be willing to pay half his salary. They're not stupid.

It's 28 August and my only wish at this point is to sign this Faivre kid which I've really grown to appreciate by watching his plays online. He looks very talented and I think he could turn into something big, so we shouldn't let the opportunity slip by.

Brest are asking for 15M, we've offered 10M + bonuses. L'Equipe reported today that we'll make a new, higher bid by this weekend. The difference is minimal, and the payer really wants to join us. If we can't close even this deal, then I really give up on our management and their way of doing business. Enough is enough.

Romano was saying he could go to Porto n loan, so he is available on loan and Everton will probably be paying part of his wages as Porto can't afford whatever Everton are paying him

And while I do like Faivre a lot, I would prefer to bring in someone established along with him. We're too light in those 3 areas behind the striker

Leao is inconsistent, Rebic the same. Diaz is also still too young, Faivre would be the same. Alexis is a great squad player imo but he's not going to bring in the goals/assists and Samu is not even worth mentioning.

Bringing in a player like James would give me more peace of mind

And I agree. If we cannot close this Faivre deal we're basically useless in the transfer window. We've been p!ssing everyone off with the 10m offers and not being willing to budge from them. It's seriously worrying to see where our aspirations lie...

Yeah, but it's part of a deal that will see Luiz Diaz join Everton.

And how exactly is James established? He's been a bench warmer since he joined Madrid. If he was good enough he would have succeed there, or at least Bayern would have kept him. The guy has never looked beyond a one-hit wonder for me. And at 30 years of age, being injury prone and all, I'll definitely pass.

Castillejo on his way to Getafe on a one year loan with obligation to buy.

This should mean incoming player is imminent at Milan.

Eagerly anticipating this.

Hmm, didn't see this. Do you know who reported it? Because I see nothing concrete about this
han2503
GibranAraige: Jesus #Corona is very close to #Milan. His agent is tying up loose ends for his arrival in Italy.

Don't know how reliable this guy is but Di Marzio said it wouldn't happen earlier today as the gap between the club is too wide...

I don't know if this is going to be an either or case with Corona and Faivre. I'd personally prefer Faivre if it came down to a choice as he's more versatile and has more room to grow
X-Offender
Man, I really don't want this Corona guy. Smells like another Castillejo...

MilanNews - Faivre did not travel with the team for the match against Strasbourg. This seems to be linked to the transfer market, given that the player has been approached by Milan and has shown the will to leave.

Well on the bright aide he is not built like a swimming noodle and he's played as a RWB for Porto. So he's strong, quick and will put in the work. But once again, not a player that can produce big numbers

Crossing fingers

And apparently Brest on has something like 17 available players on their roster. So this decision couldn't have been made lightly.

We should try to offer them Krunic or Conti

According to Bild, Bayern will sign Sabitzer for 16M.

Now this is just infuriating. Couldn't we have spent 16M on this guy?

I almost feel like our budget for this summer was set at 60M (which is what we've spent so far), and anything beyond that is a "huge sacrifice" by our ownership. rolleyes.gif

Meanwhile Roma, who have over 500M in financial debt, have spent nearly 100M thus far.
William405
Bakayoko signed and has his medical for us. Loan for two years. Option to buy 15 million, excellent signing with a reasonable price if you ask me.

Let's see what happens for the attacking midfielder/RW position. Faivre looks like an great signing that can cover these two roles maybe?

I don't really mind if we don't go after someone established cause we don't have the money for it. But really would be nice to have a young hungry talented player whose not lightweight Castellejo.
X-Offender
About this Corona guy, people are saying we'll sign him cos he's been left out of the Porto called-up players for this weekend. But I checked their line-ups of the first 4 weeks of the Portuguese league, and Corona has only played in 1 match (3rd week I believe it was) coming from the bench for about 20 minutes. For another game he was benched for the whole match, and for the other two weeks (1st and 4th) he wasn't even called up. No injuries registered.

I think this guy is a dud and Porto are trying to play us. He's clearly not a starter for them anymore, and signing a Porto reject doesn't bode too well for us. Especially since they're asking around 18M when they usually ask exorbitant amounts for their players.

Sabitzer wanted to stay in Germany though and if it came down to an option between Milan and Bayern it's pretty obvious what the choice would be...

I'm more p!ssed off that West Ham (!!!) could sign Vlasic. Talk about a lost opportunity

Yeah, he's going to West Ham for 28 million. A shame we didn't have that kind of money to spend.

I'll tell you what I expected.

A ) To address the weakest link in our starting line-up from last year, i.e. RW with a quality player. We can't continue playing with a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none like Alexis and a rubbish player like Castillejo.

B ) To replace anyone leaving with someone even better. I'll concede Donnarumma, but Calhanoglu?

C ) To sign another quality striker. Giroud was not the right profile.

D ) To strengthen the depth of the squad where necessary.

Insofar we've only managed point D.

Okay, I'll concede A, even though I think Saelmakers offers the right characteristics to what Pioli wants in that position. Sure, I would love someone that is an attacker winger, but I'm not sure about the balance. Saelmakers also connects well with the team.

B, we all know Donnarumma is irreplaceable... but Maignan is a very good goalkeeper. Hakan, please you are one of the people who kept saying he was ****. I rather watch Brahim there, and I think he has what it takes. He's very dynamic, ofcourse not perfect yet, but we'll see what he can provide. Let's also wait what happens in the coming days.

C, I think Giroud is a very good replacement imo. I really like what I saw from him so far.

D, yeah we added a lot of depth in lots of key positions

Listen, I'm not saying that the position is ideal, but Maldini is doing well with the cards he's dealt. The transfers have been very reasonable, and we have a very young team who have 2 yrs of experience with each other under the same coach. I have the right to he optimistic here.

And, han about Roma, come on how many times are we going to repeat this, these kind of moves are not feasible in today's football unless you're PSG or have oil money. We'll see how Roma copes with this massive spending.

We were interested one month ago, Bayern are moving only now at the closing of the window. If we had offered them 16M back then I don't think there would have been objections from the player. My guess is we were never that much interested.

As for Vlasic, West Ham are offering 30M. We just can't compete in that regard.

I'll take Brahim for Capanoglu but insofar we don't have a Brahim substitute now do we?

You can't say you're happy with Giroud given his stats. Look at Inter. They have Lautaro, Correa, Dzeko and Sanchez. We have Zlatan, Giroud and Pellegri. Huge difference. Obviously we're talking in foresight here. Giroud might very well score 20 goals this season, but that's another discussion for another time.

LOL, Maldini is maybe testing the waters. If the player wants Milan, we should have an upper hand in the negotiations. I will concede that it will totally be unacceptable to close the market without signing him or an adequate AM...

We made an improved offer last night and we're expecting a response from Brest.

By the way, Antonio Vitiello, who's a very reliable source for Milan related mercato news, said we're not interested in James. The rumour was originated from ESPN in Spain.

Atalanta's Miranchuk now being mentioned by Sky.

I don't understand why we left everything for the trequartista in the very end and why we're considering so many names.

If guys like Vlasic, Bernardo etc. were beyond our budget to begin with, then we should have closed for this Faivre kid weeks ago. I doubt Moncada only found out about him just now. Should have just paid 15M or whatever to Brest and have been done with it.

I mean, what difference will 3-4M really make? Jeez, we're such a bunch of drama queens...
CrazyMilanFan
Brest rejected our offer
X-Offender
X-Offender
Two reasons apparently why it didn't happen:

1) Brest are furious at the player's decision not to play the weekend match (asinine move by the kid, in all honesty).

2) They asked initially 18M, we offered 10M. Then they went down to 15M + bonuses, we offered 12M + 3M bonuses. They rejected it.

Link

There goes the final hope for a decent signing. Now we'll get some godforsaken reject that nobody will care about. Great.
CrazyMilanFan
And we are flipping sending adli back to loan
That made it look like certain that we are getting him

X-Offender
That AM/RW situation looks precarious as hell with only Brahim, Alexis and Castillejo as options. Don't really wanna count Krunic as a valid alternative.
han2503
Let's see what happens tomorrow. They have less than 23 hours now to pull something off.

Hope is really fading now

Once again, I have to ask the question. If we never had the budget to replace Hakan, why let him go for a measly million. Cannot for the life of me understand the thinking there.

Also, Adli was probably loaned back to soften Bordeaux. Because the kid looks ready and can play as an attacking mid. It would have made more sense for us to keep him, unless we do actually have an AM up our sleeves that is

Adli was loaned back because this way we paid only 7M. Yes, once again it's money the main factor.

There is no AM up the management's sleeves. You think we wouldn't have heard anything about anyone with only 23 hours remaining? The ace was Faivre, and we botched it because, yes, once again we're CHEAP.

I'm tired of this provincial behaviour, offering peanuts for players you CLEARLY have shown an interest in and with time running out. If Brest ask initially 18M you cannot initiate negotiations at 10M. You try to reach a compromise and meet their demands. Especially since this is a vital signing for us given the circumstances.

Maldini has very much disappointed me. And it's not about not having money or having your hands tied, it's about the approach to things.
William405
Let's wait 23 hrs and I'll be shitting with you on the management. But let's just wait. This is not the first time that a club signed a player on the last day.
X-Offender
We're closing with Crotone for Messias on loan.

nuh
I've been watching clips of Messias, doesn't seem to be that bad of a signing. I think name wise and potential he's def underwhelming. He seems to be an upgrade to what we currently have in that position, which is good. I think if we go for this option for now and make one more signing, maybe James who could play at both AMC & RW. I think wouldn't be so bad. I think the good thing about Messias is that he scored 9 goals for a team that scored 45 goals and 20 of which came from one player.

I think the positive here, is that I think with summer we improved our squad overall, we got the backup for Ibra, we re-signed Tomori and Tonali, we upgraded on meite with bakayoko & finally we upgraded on samu. I 100% believe Brahim is much better than Hakan and that we didn't lose much from Hakan. We also got a solid replacement on Donna. It might seem like I'm being overly positive but I really believe that our situation isn't that bad. I think our current squad is good enough to compete for the league, I don't see our team be inferior to many teams.

Would love to know what you guys think too..
X-Offender
Messias is a done deal. The player is currently undertaking his medical.

@AntoVitiello says there will be no more signings. Mercato is over.

What can I say? Just the idea that we'll be travelling to Anfield with a 30 year old from Serie B who started playing football at the age of 25 gives me the shudders.

Messias currently earns 0,11M at Crotone. That's right. These are the kind of players we can afford.

It's a blow to the club's image. An embarrassing conclusion to an embarrassing summer. Maldini has failed everyone.

Vlasic moved to westham for 29 million
han2503
So let's see

We did not sign a proper starting AM after letting Hakan leave for free to Inter

We did not sign a RW of quality after 2 summers of this area being one of the major weak spots

Did not get rid of Samu

Did not get rid of Conti

Failed to renew Kessie before the window closed

Failed to renew Romagnoli before the window closed

Signed a player who is 30 years old and ha so far played more seasons in Serie D than in Serie A
.......
