Well, Theo and Bennacer's contracts expire in 2024. There's still plenty of time. But yeah, we shouldn't leave it for too late.

I disagree that there's still plenty of time. Next summer they will be in the same boat as Kessie. And by then the club has no negotiating power. We needed to renew this past summer, let alone waiting throughout the season and dragging these talks out

Next summer is 2022, man. There will be two more years left, so they won't be in the same boat as Kessie. But regardless, yes, we should renew them ASAP.

I don't know about you guys, this contract situation is beginning to rip the team apart IMO. Donnarumma could have been explained with greed and that *** Raiola. But ever since Hakan turned out to be a problem, I've felt very uncomfortable. Kessie assured everyone there won't be any problem with his renewal and stated he wants Milan. Yet problems occurred.

And on the other hand we managed not to sign players like Thauvin who were going to be free agents. Again probably because of our stingy contract policy.

All will hurt us more and more. In the end the team will be completely lost and beyond repair. It is something that makes me worrisome.

If Kessie is asking 6.5M then we should satisfy his requests. If he's demanding more than I side with Maldini and he can go f*ck himself, especially after the latest performances. But at least sell him in January and get some money FFS!

I just remembered that Maldini said before tonight's game that he's been discussing with Kessie's agent over the renewal for a year and a half. A year and a half! To quote:

QUOTE
Recently Paolo Maldini has spoken more with Jurgen Klopp or Franck Kessie's agent: "With Klopp - the director of the Milan technical area jokes on DAZN - It's a year and a half that we talk to Kessie's agent. There have been many occasions, there will be others".

Nope. Can't be bothered.

But I watched some comps of his last 2 games and the kid looks smooth. Can't wait to bring him in. He could have really helped out this season with just Diaz in that AM slot

I agree.

We cannot simply say that we have a 4m wage cap. This is not 2000! I don't know what's going on with Kessie. I cannot believe that he'd be asking for 8m that's just unthinkable, but he is worth 6.5m to this team, so I do not understand why we're stretching this out at the risk of losing a 50m+ player for free come summer. Makes absolutely zero financial sense, from whichever angle you want to look at it

We also have to consider the fact that we've offloaded big contracts as well this summer just like we have offloaded big contracts each summer since Elliot came in. So the budget should be there to give Kessie the bump he wants. Ibra is probably also on his final year, so that will be another big wage gone in the summer. It just makes no sense why we're negotiating with our important players in this manner

Hakan it looks like it's been a good move overall. Obviously had we sold him the previous summer we could have gotten a 20m fee for him, which once again, makes absolutely zero sense that we let him rundown his contract while being a starter in the team

Stumbled upon this.

That Antony kid (#11) looks very impressive. Could be our solution to the RW problem. Current market value at 25M.

You think really he will play in the AM slot? I certainly hope so, otherwise he'd be kind of a Kessie replacement. Well, technically, Bakayoko would be the Kessie replacement and Adli would be an additional player.

Bakayoko should never be Kessie's replacement. He can be Kessie's sub, but not replacement. The guy is a bench player. You think there is no reason why Chelsea have been loaning him out every single year? Or why no team he's ever played in has decided to sign him permanently?

Personally speaking I want Tonali-Bennacer to be our starting pair, even for this season. Adli and Bakayoko can be their subs. I don't think we've signed Adli for the AM role. In that regard I think we'll make another tentative for Faivre, even this January I read.

Totally agreed. For Bakayoko, I meant as a player who plays in Kessie's style in terms of physicality...but with no suggestion that he should be our starter.

With that said, I still hope Kessie signs a new deal.

He can apparently occupy both positions. Adli for me is more someone to cover for Bennacer than Kessie because he is a playmaker, and from the highlights I've seen of him he can play either deep or higher up the pitch. So having him with us this season would have been a great addition. But I understand why we had to compromise and leave him there for the season. At least he's getting regular football, which will mean he'll be better come next season when he joins the rest of the team

Bakayoko was great for us when he was last with us though. I wouldn't count him out just yet. I think he's just a player that needs to feel appreciated by his coach and the club. Pioli is great at integrating players and bringing the best out of them. If Baka can perform at the level he did 2 years ago, he'd be a steal at 15m. Especially with the prospect of losing Kessie looming

Faivre is more of a wide player though

Even if he performs at the level of 3 years ago, he's still not good enough to be a starter if we want to make that step ahead quality-wise. Bakayoko is a bench player, no more and no less. Great to have with you, but still a bench player.

Faivre is someone who can play both centrally and wide. At Brest for example in the last 3 league games he played twice as AM and once as RW. Would have been perfect to have with us right now cos those are the areas we're most lacking. And we were so close to signing him...

Hopefully we try to go for him in January

And I agree re Baka. But if we get caught out with this Kessie situation, we at least have a back up and with Tonali and Bennacer playing so well, it wouldn't be the huge blow we'd have been expecting just a few months ago

Yeah, but that wasn't very plausible. No club was going to sign Dollarumma for money with his wage demands. I mean, the guy barely managed to sign for free for PSG and he's still being benched regularly. Same for Capanoglu after a horrid season and Euros. Only Inter showed any interest, and only because he was a free agent.

Yes but he'll be here next year. And he's not exactly the new Cristiano Ronaldo so I don't get the fascination. Maybe he'll adapt, maybe not. He'll be here in 2022, don't see a point in already planning and dreaming about him. We need better then just talented french mid-class players.

That is wishful thinking. Players like Adli are the best we can afford. Do we need someone like Bernardo Silva? Absolutely, but players of his calibre are earning millions, and we cannot give out millions. Besides, even Bernardo (I am just taking him as an example) came from Monaco when he was 23.

You can forget about us signing established players. That is never going to happen under Elliott.
Fillipo Simone
Maybe. But I don't see a point in constantly dreaming and puzzling around Adli like he's important or something. He's coming next season, and from where I stand now, next season is the far far future.

There are rumours that Milan have decided to sell Kessie in January. The difference between request and demand about wages is too big, especially since there are indiscretions that PSG are offering to him a very fat contract.

The problem is whether we can place him in January. The only way would be if other clubs started bidding for him, because if it's only PSG no way would they be willing to barf 10-15M for a player they could get easily for free just a few months later.

Once again, management f*cked up. Kessie should have been put on the market this summer. He should have been given a deadline. Either you renew until, I dunno, 31 of July, otherwise we sell you. Once again we've shot ourselves in the foot and I really don't understand it.

All the signings we've made since Paolo came in have all thought us better than this

We don't need "better". We're making these players better playing in our system. Bennacer, Theo, Kessie, Calabria, Diaz, Leao, Alexis, Tomori. These are all players who we all thought were not "good enough" and now are worth trice as much as they did before Pioli took over.

As x-off said, the hope of being able to sign established players needs to be let go. That's not how this Milan operates. And personally I'm very happy we're going down this route. I was losing my sh!t in the summer about Gigio and Hakan, but look how it's turned out. We're better off for it imo. Our wage bill is a quarter to that of Juve's and we play the better football and the table so far reflects that

These contract situations are the one huge black spot over an otherwise stellar managerial strategy for Milan. We're going to be in the same boat with Theo and Bennacer. I don't understand why they're not already renewed at this point. Why allow the next transfer window to drift back into the horizon without renewing their contracts?

Kessie at this point is most likely lost to us. We need to try to get something for him in January. I really do not understand how we could allow around 160m in assets to walk away for free. How Elliot(!!) could allow that is beyond me

Florenzi underwent knee surgery today, will be out for at least a month. What a failed signing he turned out to be. We should have tried everything for Dalot. Guy was reliable and could play both flanks.

Good news is Messias is completely recovered and Pioli might even call him up for Atalanta.

Ibra, Bakayoko and Krunic will be available after the NT break.

---

I really hope we get both Faivre and Adli in January. It would provide even better depth to our roster.

Nice to see we'll be getting most of the injured players back after the break.

Re Florenzi, I've always rated him, it's just that we're not using him as he was intended. Instead he's become Saelemakers' sub for some reason.

The knee problem has been bothering him for a while apparently, and they could have gone for rest rather than surgery, but this will be a more permanent fix, so hopefully he'll come back and be able to get into a rhythm with the rest of the squad once he's fully fit and doesn't have a painful knee to deal with
William405
With regards to the free transfers... It seems to be a common theme in today's football. Look at Mbappe, one of the world's biggest players who is probably leaving for free to Madrid.

Agent Mino Raiola has hit out at AC Milan for not producing any kind of official statement to condemn the hostile reception Gianluigi Donnarumma got at San Siro.

"I am disgusted by the whistles at Gigio, and now I wonder why Milan did not officially intervene to distance themselves from the dispute, to defend him in some way, after that ignoble banner appeared on a bridge in Milan," he said (via MilanNews).

"Shall we talk about the threats? Did he kill someone? The truth is that Milan did not know or could keep him, it doesn't make much difference. Try asking anyone, if a father, what would he recommend to his son: stay at Milan or go to Paris Saint-Germain?"

The mentality in Italy is just very backward when it comes to racism. It's the same in my country, so I'm not shocked by it. But to compare a spoiled brat like Donna to a great champion like Koulibaly who is getting abuse for the colour of his skin is just typical of Italians.

Alexis has extended his contract.

BREAKING: Alexis Saelemaekers extends his contract with Milan until June 2026

Why can't the rest of the players be this simple FFS?? This makes me worry about Theo and Bennacer now. Because it's obvious that we're willing to extend deals early so why can' we get the big ones over the line?
X-Offender
Because they probably offered him a small increase, whereas guys like Bennacer and Theo will obviously demand much more money, especially Theo.

Good news: Theo is negotiating his renewal with the club, which will see his actual salary of 1.5M doubled. There's sort of an urgency for his agent to renew ASAP because apparently Raiola is trying to snatch his client (FFS!!).

Bennacer and Leao are also on the verge of renewal and it should be just a matter of time.

I want to wait until they actually put pen to paper before getting excited about this

We've been duped too many times with these renewal sagas.

But if we lock all these players down to 2026 we'll be in a great position imo

We need a AM/RW signing in January. I think management knows it and they'll try to snatch somebody, possibly Faivre. Especially since Brest might probably get relegated at the end of the season, which would reduce his value considerably.

I don't know, some new names (unknown youngster) surface every now and then. Faivre not being mentioned.
