He's completely right, though.

What did you guys expect, though?

I'll tell you what I expected.

A ) To address the weakest link in our starting line-up from last year, i.e. RW with a quality player. We can't continue playing with a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none like Alexis and a rubbish player like Castillejo.

B ) To replace anyone leaving with someone even better. I'll concede Donnarumma, but Calhanoglu?

C ) To sign another quality striker. Giroud was not the right profile.

D ) To strengthen the depth of the squad where necessary.

Insofar we've only managed point D.

Bakayoko is a done deal. Loan at 500K with right of purchase set at 15M (although I also read 20M somewhere).

GK, defence and midfield we're fully set. Left wing and striker, too. It's the AM and RW positions where we're truly out of depth.

Nah, I've really had it. You can speak about all the "managing expectations" and "reality" BS we've been feeding ourselves for years. But this season makes everything look pointless.

We set ourselves a goal to return to Europe as some kind of holy grail. Now we make it happen after years and years of failure only to be exposed like laughingstocks and buffoons. Because how else to explain that our management lost 2 (and potentially 3) very highly marketable players? How else can we explain the absence of a proper plan, a step by step plan that every good team has? This whole summer period has been nothing but a complete mess.

The plan is there, unfortunately it's just not one to make Milan a powerhouse again.

Milan have a name for an AM, but it hasn't been disclosed yet. I hope it happens.

Re reinforcing the squad to be protoganists in the CL, the club has quality depth to go for a good run in both Serie A and CL.

But to win either is not the realistic target to set. Milan will. Most likely have to bleed to qualify from the CL group, let alone reach the latter stages. But in Serie A, a CL place is realistically attainable with this squad.

Looks like it's all-in for Faivre according to Mediaset.

In all honesty, from all the names mentioned lately, he's the one that warms me the most.

Check out his two assists against PSG last week

He looks good and has the stats to back up the nice yt comps.

Looks like we'll close for him soon.

I don't know if he'll be the last signing. But I feel like we're going to go i to the season with that one missing element which would make the difference for us.

I don't understand why we don't try to go for James...

High salary, 30 years old, very injury prone. I wouldn't go for him either. The only player I would have broken bank is Bernardo, simply because he's pure world class. Shame we missed on that opportunity. We won't get many in the future.

There's a huge difference between Bernardo S. and James though.

Everton would most likely accept a loan more where they pay half his wages and even if it is a permanent move, James is desperate to get out of there so he'll accept a wage cut

On the other hand City would still want a huge transfer fee for Silva, not to mention high wages as well.

Silva was never realistic for us, while James is

And while at the start of the summer I was absolutely against us signing him, it's come to a point where I'd want him over the likes of Messias, Corona and all the other mediocrity we've been linked with

Personally I'll pass. First, because I don't think Everton would lend him on loan, and secondly because I don't think they'd be willing to pay half his salary. They're not stupid.

It's 28 August and my only wish at this point is to sign this Faivre kid which I've really grown to appreciate by watching his plays online. He looks very talented and I think he could turn into something big, so we shouldn't let the opportunity slip by.

Brest are asking for 15M, we've offered 10M + bonuses. L'Equipe reported today that we'll make a new, higher bid by this weekend. The difference is minimal, and the payer really wants to join us. If we can't close even this deal, then I really give up on our management and their way of doing business. Enough is enough.

Romano was saying he could go to Porto n loan, so he is available on loan and Everton will probably be paying part of his wages as Porto can't afford whatever Everton are paying him

And while I do like Faivre a lot, I would prefer to bring in someone established along with him. We're too light in those 3 areas behind the striker

Leao is inconsistent, Rebic the same. Diaz is also still too young, Faivre would be the same. Alexis is a great squad player imo but he's not going to bring in the goals/assists and Samu is not even worth mentioning.

Bringing in a player like James would give me more peace of mind

And I agree. If we cannot close this Faivre deal we're basically useless in the transfer window. We've been p!ssing everyone off with the 10m offers and not being willing to budge from them. It's seriously worrying to see where our aspirations lie...

Yeah, but it's part of a deal that will see Luiz Diaz join Everton.

And how exactly is James established? He's been a bench warmer since he joined Madrid. If he was good enough he would have succeed there, or at least Bayern would have kept him. The guy has never looked beyond a one-hit wonder for me. And at 30 years of age, being injury prone and all, I'll definitely pass.

Castillejo on his way to Getafe on a one year loan with obligation to buy.

This should mean incoming player is imminent at Milan.

Eagerly anticipating this.

Hmm, didn't see this. Do you know who reported it? Because I see nothing concrete about this
