Expected better from Napoli. Pathetic defending..

I don't think it will go to penalties, there will be a goal in ET. I have a hunch Naopoli will steal it.

Chelsea playing classic English power football with many long passes and simple headers, and well, it works.

Inler playing also very badly. Not to mention Lavezzi in his typical day off and Hamšik as usual invisible up until now.

Cavani hasn't been great either.

Their main problem has been defending though. The goals we conceeded against Arsenal were isolated mistakes, but Napoli are getting caught out with every ball that's floated into their box.

Have they always been this bad at the set-pieces? Because I don't remember them being this bad against us this season
X-Offender
Napoli have been suffering set-pieces like hell tonight.
Fillipo Simone
Well, they have a problem with set-pieces all season long. They lack the extra strong defender alla Stam.
Jack Bauer

Aronica is absolutely terrible.

The open net miss?
han2503
Napoli out!

Fillipo Simone
4-1. I don't see Napoli returning. Again piss poor defending. How easily did Ramires outsmart Hamšik and Dossena.

The open net miss?

Yes.

Oh well, seems like we will be the only Italian team in europe after this week dry.gif
han2503
Where is the defence???

Shocking from Napoli!
X-Offender
Drogba, how pathetic.
Jack Bauer
Drogba is such a dirty flopper!!
X-Offender
And then they say it's the Italians who dive and cheat. dry.gif
han2503
Busquettes moment from Drogba there

And are you acid re-incarnated?

Hope we will get Chelsea, we won't be that naive as Napoli.

They were not naive, they were just bad. We were the naive ones against Arsenal.

I'd still prefer an easier side (on paper) Marseille or APOEL wuld be first choices. Benfica or Chelsea 2nd. Bayern and the Spanish teams last of course.

But yes, Chelsea were only allowed to win this tie because Napoli are pure sh!t in defence. It showed in the league against provincial sides, of course it's going to show in the CL against a team with so much experiance.

But yeah, Chelsea aren't anything to talk about. Bad in defence and very 1 dimensional in attack (punt it at Drogba). Nothing our CBs cannot handle. Mata is a player that disapoointed me today, huge fan but was missing for most of the game
Fillipo Simone
Yet another bad year for Italy in Europe.

Agreed.

As I've always said, any side bar Real or Barca should be ok. Bayern would the hardest tie apart from those 2 but we'll have decent chance of going through still.

laugh.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif Hey, he's in it for a good cause. tongue.gif Imagine a computer algorithm for natural language, or even a human being scans these pages 20 years later. Where will the search for Busquettes lead him to. But anyway, agree with everyone here Drogba is such a disgrace. Never liked him much for this sole reason.
kurtsimonw
Credit to the Chelsea old guard today. Ivanovic, Terry, Lampard, Caole, Essien and Drogba were all superb.
Zed.D
Bad year for Italy because Inter sucked. Napoli deserve praise. no one expected them to go this far in their debut CL season. in the end lack of experience cost them this tie.

QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Mar 14 2012, 06:56 PM) *
@Zed.D: Roughly translated, it means "If you don't jump, you're a rossonero". Basically it's a call for everyone who is a fan to cheer, coz otherwise you're the enemy. Abbiati when he was on loan at Juve and they won the scudetto notoriously responded to this call from the fans if I remember.

Thanks for explaining.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Mar 14 2012, 07:43 PM) *
I'm surprised you didn't know about it. It's the most used catchphrase by Italian fans.

Actually I'd heard it... in ENGLISH! biggrin.gif
X-Offender
Hamsik was inexistent tonight.

Napoli gifting them the game on a plate sure helped.

I'm 100% sure that they were not this bad at set-pieces earlier in the season. Shocking stuff today. I have not seen as many scrambles in the box due to simple floated balls in I don't know how long.

Chelsea got it right in the sense that they played simple old EPL style football. They were direct and caught Napoli out continuously. No trying to prod the ball around the box or fancy possession play.
han2503

Yeah, were we really so interested in him that we were prepared to cough up the ridiculous amount Napoli would want for him?

All of Napoli's big names bottled it imo. Cavani was bad, missed a complete sitter early in the 1st half as well
Fillipo Simone

Nothing new. He isn't the one to step up in such occasions. Napoli's two biggest problems are the CB's and their poor depth.
acid911
Say what you may, but if you leak 4 goals at the back, little do you deserve to go through. sleep.gif FACT.

Yep. I still don't understand the criticism of it. Get the ball in and around the box, that's how you cause trouble. Look at Marseille in both legs against Inter too.

Well it usually does not work if you're facing smart defenders who will deal with those types of balls all day long.

But Chelsea spotted the weakness in Napoli and went with it. Because had they tried to camp in Napoli's half and attack them through the middle, they'd probably have lost the tie
Milan Are Brilliant
Credit to Di Matteo, AVB wouldn't have got them through the tie.
William405
When are the draws? Is their anything to keep us updated through a phone?
d'Arc.LP
1 and 30 minutes from now. I wish there was something to tell me about the draw 'cos exactly in that time I'll not be home.
Zed.D
Don't know about you guys but I want a TOP team. I want excitement not boredom.
acid911
Aye. smile.gif Top team it is, for me too. Chelsea or Barcelona.
milanbuf88
There will be plenty of time for a top team later on. Let's get healthy first. I'd prefer APOEL, Benfica, Marsaille, and Chelsea in that order

What if we got KO'd by Benfica or Marseille. I know on paper we're stronger and should beat them, but you never know with Milan... it'd be a real bummer if that happened and we didn't get to play in a big tie with a big team.

No top teams please. We can't even get our first 11 on the pitch. Facing the likes of Real and Barca would surely mean us out in the quarters. If we are to face a top side, at least bring it on in the semis

Aye. smile.gif Top team it is, for me too. Chelsea or Barcelona.

No Barca please! Chelsea I would jump at the chance, considering the other 3 big sides left. But Apoel, Marseille and Benfica would be great draws for us. We are just not ready to face the other 3 sides at this point with all the injuries we have

Agreed!!!

But Marseille ahead of Benfica. Marseille are terrible while Benfica could be a tricky tie. Still wouldn't complain if we get them or Chelsea as we should be able to go through against both sides

Of course there's always the possibility, just like there's always a possibility of getting hammered by Real or Barca considering out depleted squad. Facing 1 of the big sides in the semis would be a whole lot better. At least we'll have a very good chance of advancing if we faced one of the smaller teams now.
arivanjj
FML.

we got barca again.
han2503
Bayern and Real practically handed the semis
han2503
Can't see us going through now.

Zed.D
I think it's better to play Barca than Real. we have already played them, we have a chance not to repeat the mistakes we made earlier on (I know it's not that easy!!). let's just pray we get to play them with a full squad. we were **** and managed to give them a run for their money. now we're much better, we just need to sort out our injury problems. I wouldn't say we're 100% out, han.

If we somehow manage to beat Barca, its psychological boost will be so immense that we can go on and win the damn thing.
X-Offender
F*ck this sh*t! And we play the first leg at home. The worst of the worst just happened.
