Muntari: 'Milan better than Inter'
By Football Italia staff

Sulley Ali Muntari is particularly eager to prove a point against his old club in tomorrow’s derby. “I’m happy now, unlike at Inter.”

The midfielder made the switch across the divide and has found surprising success with the Rossoneri, scoring three goals since his loan move in January.

“Sunday’s match is very important and we have to win it to keep believing in the Scudetto,” the Ghanaian told Rai Sport.

“I am very happy at Milan now, as I came here with great enthusiasm. At Inter, however, I didn’t play consistently and could not be happy.

“I score more now because playing with great talents who help you like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Antonio Cassano and Kevin-Prince Boateng certainly puts you in a position to give your best.”

Muntari is critical of Inter, but his contract still belongs to the Nerazzurri.

“I won’t think about my future now, as I am concentrated on the next two games. At the end of the season we’ll talk it over with the club.”

He'll stay I guess.
kurtsimonw
It's retarded that he's even allowed to play. Makes no sense to allow loanees to play against their parent club.
Fillipo Simone
It depends on the agreement.

Muntari was injured with Ghana and will be out for several months.

That's the only real way the management really moves their behind and buys someone. mellow.gif Because they know that even if they've signed a mediocre player, if they guy's out for half a season or more, they just have to bring in a replacement and quick. Otherwise, they sure do take their time figuring out the bargain buys and all.

As for Muntari, I can only imagine all the pain he has had to go through during the injury and the operation. And that too, playing for his country back in Africa, respect for that. Not that I like him that very much, but still I am not and will never be celebrating his misfortune. sad.gif Just the reason that we got in some cover due to it.

In a perfect world, a lot of things would be different. But these are desperate times, when everyone knows we are just a few signings (and a much lower amount of injuries) away from being great again.
KillerMax
Have we signed him yet? Does this injury mean he won't join us on a permanent basis?
acid911
I pretty much am certain we've signed him. unsure.gif But like I said, Muntari's signing has had an upside, very similar to how Flamini got injured and we got Nocerino as his cover. Sad thing to happen to a football player, a long term injury, a painful one like this, but that's the only way our management lets us know they're breathing.
han2503
Yep Muntari was signed early in June...

Anyway, at least we won't have to worry about Allegri playing him for the next 6 months. Thank God

A lot of running? Muntari is the laziest "hassler" I've ever seen!

Huh?

He had one of the better distance covered at the World Cup (obviously per game, not total) and most certainly did in Milans MF last season. "lazy" is the last thing he is. Technical ability? Yeah, I agree he's nowhere near the best in that regard.

I disagree. One only has to count how easily Lazio countered once Muntari was off.

Playing box to box in a midfield three is insanely difficult. INSANELY F#CKING DIFFICULT. Trust me on this. And he does a stellar job.

Candreva was quiet till he was taken off. And he scored a goal and actually got involved in goal scoring situations.

Yet all anyone here can see is one off tackle or one skyward shot. Not realising that he probably sprinted from the other half to be there to even receive the ball.

Would I take Modric over him? Sure. But until then he's the best we've got. Right now for me, it's Poli who gets the bench when Montolivo comes back.

No jack, Lazio were already getting the upper hand on us before Muntari left the field, he's irrelevant in this case, it was De Jong that dropped off a lot in the second half which allowed Lazio control of the midfield.

Muntari doesn't play box-to-box, Muntari plays as Muntari wants. He's just completely undisciplined as a player and tactically ignorant. Oh and Candreva was quiet because SES and Bonera were doubling up on him, and it's not like he's Ronaldo, he only got into it when our players started to tire out a bit and we lot control of the midfield

We'll have to disagree then. I thought Essien was a disaster positioning wise whereas I could always see Muntari 'jogging in' and cutting off passing angles.

Anyway, it won't be the first time people watch the same match and interpret things differently.

laugh.gif @ bolded part! Agree completely.

Muntari would be perfect in the double pivot or even as anchor, but as mezz'ala he's totally not suited. He jogs around the field and doesn't pressure the opponent. He's decent only when we're closed in our own half, as that's when his physicality and tackling skills come to fruition.

I've personally never said that I don't like the guy as a human being, he seems like a good guy, but as a footballer, I simply cannot stand him, he's so limited, lazy and tactically limited. Just cannot stand watching him on the pitch for us.

Hopefully now with Van Ginkel and Bonaventura his time on the pitch will be very limited

read in FI yesterday or the day before, Muntari is very content and wants to retire at Milan king.gif

He's been a good servant for the past couple of years, under which all coaches relied on him to battle that midfield.
