He might probably get suspended for two games, so his next match should be in nearly a month. wink.gif

Wonder if Pippo is in for the derby. I think Cassano may well decide the derby this time! Got that feeling now.

If Leo had the same squad Allegri has, it'd have been another history. He's not afraid of playing an offensive team, like the coach of AC Milan should rightfully do. Allegri has a small-club mentality. His way of interpreting football makes me sick to the stomach.

this is very true. if leo had the current squad we still might even be in the champions league.

But he said he would be back soon or he wished. Also it was said before, maybe Maggio.

Now if we play boring football and win the league, I'll take it.

I just want the trecolori back on our shirts, I don't care how!

As for Allegri, I'd rather judge him when he actually has the right tools to work with. we don't have a proper midfielder/trequartista (not to mention proper full backs) and that's hurting our attacking game a lot. as for the "small club mentality" argument people use a lot, this is his debut season FFS. it doesn't take an Einstein to understand that he does. I'd rather wait and see how he does once he is (hopefully) a league winner and equipped with a better squad. if he continued to act like a small club coach, then fine, show him the door and bring Hiddink or something! but it's utterly stupid to fire him after one season especially if we win the title. and you know what, Allegri won't be fired and will be here next season as well. so get over it!

Yeah baby! Giimmie some of that Persian fire!
Brian Birkin
I think we should have Allegri a longer time, look at Juventus, firing one after one. Del Neri probably goes later, then who will come in? I think Allegri has done nicely this season, and if it gets us Lo Scudetto and Coppa Italia I think that is nice news.
X-Offender
In order for Allegri to overcome his limits, he should:

  • play a more offensive squad,
  • stop relying so much on Ibra and rest him once in a while,
  • no long balls,
  • stop playing players out of their natural positions,
  • not play an overaged squad.

We have all he possibilities to play a more attractive and cynical football.
Brian Birkin
But the age has been on question many years. Yet we won a lot. And we have brought in new players with time.
I think it is important that we win something this season. That can also maybe get us going. It was too long since World Cup win now.

We won a lot? We haven't won a single trophy since 2007, when the players I'm referring to were four years younger. What should we say about them now? Oddo is 34, Jankulovski is 33, Gattuso is 33, Ambrosini is 34, Seedorf is 35, Inzaghi is 37 etc. We can't rely on these players anymore, whether you like it or not.
Fillipo Simone
Meanwhile, we also cannot rely on players like Merkel. Meaning the current blend of both components (if all fit) is ideal.
Zed.D
Funny how the general sentiment suddenly changed from Play Merkel to Don't Play Merkel after one game.
X-Offender
I never was keen on Merkel. And if he should play, he must be employed as a trequartista. Side/box-to-box midfielder requires attributes which he physically and technically doesn't posses.

True, but be sure that when Pirlo and Ambrosini get fit, they'll start along with Gattuso, in a three-man midfield of over 30s. That's Allegri for you.

I really hope we "get rid" of one between Gattuso and Ambrosini this summer, and sign someone younger.

same here.
To date we haven't come back from a goal down to WIN. Although I hoped for the best against Tottenham deep down I knew that we wouldn't come back because Allegri doesn't strike me as an innovator. Hence it's difficult for him to effect a change on his own. It's even harder for him to make a change mid stream. Hence it's easier for him to improve the team for the next game but not within a single game and hence he's such crap at making subs in time to adequately change the game. He's just not creative and imaginative enough imho. The bells went off at his utter mismanagement of Ronaldinho. Year he's a lazy *** party boy etc etc we all knew that even before he came here. But if a n00b coach like Leo could have tamed the beast then there's no reason for him to be wasting our assets and as damaged as he was that's what Ron was. If things were a bit different that would have happened to Pato too.

I never said it once. It was pretty obvious he isn't ready, it's just that the Coppa match clouded some opinions.

As for Leonardo...please...say what you want, I consider Allegri an upgrade to Leo.
He has a better team then Milan right now, so let's see his magic please..
Brian Birkin
The age talk has been ever since the time with Ancelotti.
Milan has always as I recall had a high age squad, but been able to deal with it. Ambrosini is the new captain which I think he has done nice. Pirlo and Seedorf are 2 great long runners in the club.
Fillipo Simone
It's a typicall italian thing. Just remember the WC teams. Every 4 years I hear comments how Italy sent an old and shabby team.
Dracoris
Blah. Thats all I have to say. We've dominated two games this week and come away with a draw in both. Luck is not with us.
X-Offender
Guys, back then all the talk regarding Milan's age was just a pass-time. We had a few elder players in Maldini, Costacurta, Cafu or Serghino, but nothing dramatic. Nowadays, it's a concrete problem. We have a considerable bulk of overaged players in all departments, especially in midfield. Hopefully Galliani will do something about it this summer. I'm confident.

Carlo played Gattuso and Ambrosini, but also Pirlo, Seedorf and Kaka' alongside them. We didn't lack quality. We simply couldn't play with a 4-3-2-1 line-up anymore. Allegri, on the other hand, exaggerates such notion to the extreme. He plays certain players out of position, and he fields a horrendous midfield each and every time. At least with Leo we saw glimpses of spectacular football. When have we seen a pleasant football under Allegri? I don't like this Milan. I don't like this Milan at all.

tbh i could not care less how we win games as long as we just win them. As i said in the very beggining i'm not going to judge Max Allegri until the season is over.

There are some old players now like Nesta, Seedorf, Pirlo. But these players have become so big in Milan that they I think will never be "set aside", probably allowed to finish in Milan if they want.

Agreed.

I fail to see how he can win.

If we beat a bad team - so we should.
If we dominate a bad team and don't win - his fault.
If we beat a good team - it's because we have the best squad.
If we don't beat a good team - he's a choker.

for my money he has done well in his first year and considering this year he might win Coach of the year for a third time, a feat only lippi and cappello have done if memory serves. Guidolin/mazzari have a better chance though

Wow do we need that. I'd like to see him get a run in before the derby though...

I don't think he can have his DM spot back, Markie V is a stud there. Here's what I think:

Cassano Pato
B-Tang
Emmanuelson Pirlo
Markie V
Janku/Ant Silva Nesta Abate
Kalac

I rate Emmanuelson, though I know a few of you on here don't.
Fillipo Simone
Kalac? Are you serious?

And you really think van Bommel cut Pirlo out of his standard position?
X-Offender
Kalac??? Are you high, Dracoris? biggrin.gif

Also, Allegri will NEVER prefer Emanuelson to Gattuso. Here's how I'd play, if no injuries occur till the derby.

Abbiati
Abate - Nesta - T. Silva - Antonini
Gattuso - Pirlo - Boateng
Robinho
Pato - Cassano

We need Boateng in midfield as box-to-box, not as trequartista.
Dracoris

Haha, had to make sure everyone was awake smile.gif

Yea, Pirlo has been under performing in that position for a while now. He's a killer crosser, ball controller, passer, and shooter but a weak defender. All signs that point to pushing him farther up the field. In his brief stints in an offensive position, he's looked great.

Edit: @ X-off

Our goal rate is very high with Boateng as the AM.

Why not try to push Pirlo a little more forward this time, since we miss Ibra?

I could see him as a Trequartista.

That could also work, but I think Cassano's fantasy upfront is more than enough. Coupled with Robinho's agility and Pato's finishing, it's a very effective trio if you ask me. And finally no long balls!!!

Me either. I thank him for his immense contribution toward our table standing, but I think both parties would be better off if he found himself a new team. Pato and another quality striker is enough for us to be competitive.
kurtsimonw
I'm not so sure, I think Ibra is generally harshly treated because of his reputation.

When we don't play well or score, it seems to always fall on Ibra. Even though our other attacks didn't play well or do anything, they seem to get away criticism free.
Jack Sparrow
+1 actually. Ibra's rep is the reason.

Basically we're saying we want Ibra out coz he doesn't pull magic out of his hat like he did early in the season. Against Spurs, I can count enough instances in the second leg, where Ibra made some plays which Pato and Robinho messed up. I understood what Ibra meant when he said, he preferred playing with Pippo.

Robinho messes up the simplest of chances..and Pato still can't pass. Do we nail them to the cross? We don't...and we shouldn't. Somehow Ibra is just sentenced without a trial. dry.gif
Zed.D
QUOTE

Oh you do (not YOU, specifically. people.) do you want me to collect all the Pato and Robinho bash posts for you?

What on earth are you guys talking about, they get away criticism free? (funny how Kurt of all people says this blink.gif)
Jack Sparrow
It's one thing to criticise. It's another thing to say get rid of them. Objectivity....
Zed.D
People want to get rid of him because he's a ****. I'm not one of them, but I can see why...
Jack Sparrow
I'd love to see examples of him actually being a ****. Coz he shouts at team mates? Really? And how many of them shout back? I mean you'd figure if he was such an annoying person who irritated and disrespected his team mates, they would attempt and give back as good as they got right?

That maybe his team mates would say something else, other than praising him to the skies. That maybe if him and pato had a serious falling out, Pato wouldn't be dry humping him when they were celebrating right???

People have a theory..and they just keep plucking at scraps to justify it. It's like they want Ibra to fail..just so they can say they were right.
Zed.D
Oh come on, it's as obvious as day and night (do they say it like this in English? biggrin.gif) great footballer he is, but everyone knows he's got issues. and I was talking about some of us fans wanting to get rid of him, not his teammates! (look at R7 and Max's posts above). I never said he's a **** because he shouts at his teammates and makes faces, I don't believe they mean anything.
Fillipo Simone
I don't know about you, but to me it's crystall clear why Ibra gots different treatment. It's absurd wanting to treat them equally when they are not! It's not the shouting, it's beyond that - he's a dirtbag player, an attacker that often collects red cards and kicks opponents - just ask Motta, Mihajlovic, Dacourt, and dozens other players who came across his path. When he's playing badly he starts to behave with frustration and anger, thinking more and more about himself and less about the team.

How could I prefer this selfish, bad-tempered, arrogant, annoying and wild thing over a player who might has a day off or even is in a bad phase but represents a normal Milan player one could easily admire or celebrate.

I am happy when Ibra scores for Milan, but inside I am ashamed a bit because I know it's not what Milan used to be or even should be. It's not his reputation in the past, it's the simple fact that in one season (which isn't even over yet) he proved all the bad things around him still exist - he kicked a teammate, he made fun of another, he got a red card, he managed to hurt an opponent player. The only thing lacking is a fight all Inter vs. Valencia.
