Nesta to much better? Are you serious? You never played football right?
Right.

Though I did try my hands at underwater volleyball and horseback polo a bit when I was 3.
Maybe I should not have said much better, but still being our best and most experienced defender, I would have expected Nesta to cover the player who was going to be played the ball (in this case Crouch).

He was found in no-mans land in between Lennon and Crouch. When in fact, I would have much preferred him covering and marking Crouch completely as well as clearing the ball, and left Amelia and Yepes to deal with Lennon. If Lennon would have shot into the net, then by all means be my guest.
A judgmental error, and he is as much to be blamed for the goal as Ibra for giving away the ball (quite easily, I must say) in the first place.

Allegri and Yepes take much of the blame. The former for playing Silva in the mid and not asking the team to stay back and save themselves from a deadly counter. The later for not going in for a hard tackle and getting a red card for the team.

Let's not use the Allegri rule book for judging players, had Pato, Sokratis, etc done a mistake similar to the one Yepes and Ibra did to start the chain reaction towards the goal then we wouldn't hear of them again
Unfortunately, gonna have to agree with you on this.

My issue was not how we conceded the goal, but Allegri should have known better than to try and get a solitary goal in the last ten minutes and putting his aged-and-slow defense and 2nd-choice keeper under pressure and immense risk from a counter.
He practically put most of the men forward, thinking this was the second leg of something. I remember seeing our GK in their box for crying out loud. What on blue blazes was that all about?

If you can't make the most of the 80-odd minutes on home ground, then it is much, much better to play it safe and go for an honorable 0-0, and then try your luck in the away leg. Absolute naivety, bordering stupidity, if you ask me.

Lennon was too fast. He couldn't have stood his ground. He should have made the tactical foul, instead of pulling out. He'd have been sent off. But it was the end of the match anyway.
Agree on this.

I'd much rather have him make a harmless tactical foul and gotten a red, than giving away a very crucial own-goal. But what's done is done, let's see what he (and the team) does in two weeks time in London.
