It's his decision really, but as far as I am concerned, he dissapointed me. Love for a club is more then just the relationship with the president/owner. And more then just one of maybe ten years.

Maybe he did not get the royal threatment, but did he honestly deserve it?
You say it was his first job? Well, Capello also started with Milan. It's not enough to cover his bad tactical decisions and his immature reactions. He managed to lead Milan into one of the biggest defeats against Inter ever, becoming virtually our modern day version of Tardelli. So, there's more then just the poor thing, he was always threated badly.

On the positive side, I'm even less concerned about Inter after this change.
Yet, his plain tactics could be more dangerous with Inter then they were with Milan. Inter has the more suitable players.

And maybe Moratti is thinking ahead and hopes signing Leo would increase his chances of getting Kaka.
What a sad person he is.

After Leo's bahaviour, do you honestly think, that Kaka couldn't join Inter ? I doubt it.

Two month ago when Leo was linked to Roma he said the following: "Right now it would betray my history, my past in red and black," said the former Milan player and coach.

"Little time has passed. I am still too tied to Milan. Now I would find it too much effort to work in Italy - maybe in the future, but not now."

http://www.footballitaliano.co.uk/p6_65_44...peculation.html

And that was about Roma (Not Inter, which would be much worse) just recently. Hypocrisy.

Going to Roma would have meant betraying his history. but later he goes to Inter? huhsmileyf.gif

It would make his words lies, and his person a hypocrite, if true. Though, to me he sounds like a hypocrite already with saying why he said no to Roma, but now accepted Inter.

I am quite happy he goes to Inter. I don't rate him as a coach, so I like the odds Inter to continue failing. I am not mad at Leonardo. It's his decision, but he lost my respect, etc. He is a big whatever to me from now on.

Its a job people. Inter are different than roma. The salaries don't compare and the ambitions don't compare either.

I would personally do the same as him If I'd want to pursure my mgmt career further. I love how people here just say that leo is who he is today because of berlu. Thats a joke.

He is who he is because he of himself and not milan or anyone else.

and all I gotta say is talking from a coaching perspective; he should refuse the inter job out of respect to the milan fans? yeah because we sure did a lot for him when he was getting railed by big papa every month and he took this job originally because galliani begged him to; he never wanted to be a coach. And then what do we do? We throw him out! laugh.gif

I agree with most of this post.

And honestly, it's not like he's saying he despises Milan or anything. He took a job at Inter. They're our rivals, yes, but that's it. I think it's idiotic saying all he did for Milan is now worthless. He did great things for us, and that's great. But he's no longer working for us; I don't see any reason why he can't get a job wherever he wants.

Best of luck to Leonardo. I hope Inter gives him the support Milan didn't.

I understand the majority of you guys are upset, but I'll play devil's advocate for a minute instead of automatically getting caught up in all the "Leo Merda" hullabaloo.

He needed a job (not to mention the experience) and other teams weren't exactly knocking down his door for his services. Plus, we all know he burned his bridges with Berlu, but we'll surely find out over time whether or not he took the job out of spite.

there was spite from both Leo and moratti. Leo was pissed because of Berlu and moratti is pissed because we bought Ibra wink.gif I hope this spite takes them back to the good old days king.gif

I'm not sure if I can understand the sentiments of Blue and X-Off on this one, "just a job"??? Really?
More than a decade of everyday involvement with Milan counts for nothing, then? This reminds me of Kaka', when he tells you time and time again how much he loves the club and how it is part of his heart and soul you fawn all over him, and when he turns tail and joins your greatest rival you merely shrug your shoulders. Milan is just another company then, just another club where the only bond between employer and employee is the contract? There's nothing special about it at all?

Leo has every reason to want revenge on Berlusconi, but out of respect for his former teammates, the fans, the club and his own career, he should have slammed the door in Moratti's ugly face when he came calling.

Inter or not at the end of the day it is a job, just like it is for players these days.

Really? God knows I'm not Craig Bellamy's greatest fan, but he had the decency to refuse signing a Rangers shirt a while ago, and I'm sure there's plenty of other examples.

It's certainly is far more complex than employees changing employer, as far as I'm concerned.

I like Leo as a person, but as a Milan fan I can't help but be a little upset about his decision (if we ignore the fact that Leo as Inter boss may reduce Inter's chance of mounting a comeback in the title race biggrin.gif ). that said, I for one enjoyed this big ****-you from Leo to Mr. Corrupt.

I dont know about you guys but If morratti came to me and offered me a 4m a year contract or something a like; that would come way before club loyalty and other stuff like that.

Career comes first in my books; then club loyalty.

Inter is the perfect technical choice for Leo. He has a strong team; CL football; plenty of brazillians and a large transfer budget. I wouldn't say no either.

If he does well with Inter the options for the EPL will open up and I'm sure he's going to be headed there eventually.

MizNelson
Oh, come on. Some of you are taking this way too seriously. I swear, you're acting as if he joined the Taliban.

Employment takes precedence over loyalty (especially in this economy), considering that coaches make about a fraction of what players earn.

You know how often I argue with Blue but I'm with him on this one.
nuh
what happened to "i didn't even want to become a coach, and i don't see myself being a coach once i'm done with milan."
Fillipo Simone
This is turning into a very amusing debate.

Some of you think Leonardo is poor obiviously. What's next? Saying it's a economy crisis allover the world and Leo got layed off at work months ago, so now he's desperate. Bruce Springsteen and Merle Haggard singing songs about Leonards problems at job?

Seriously. Blue, I know you'd sign that deal. But Leonardo earned in his career more then you and me probably will, so he is in a different position. Secondly, his motives are also questionable, so all the "professional experience" isn't plausible to me. Also, Leonardo has to know why Moratti took him, and that alone provides you insight how much prospect and space he'll have at Inter.

And in the end; maybe it is a job. But guys, what's in you? Don't we have some moral values left? Does the world professional now cover-up all the bad things, like disloyalty, mistrust, greed, etc. Nowdays one could said he's a professional, he wanted more money and get away with ease. Well, did anyone of you see It's a Wonderful Life lately? George Baily could have easily accept the job old Potter offerd him - and back in the 1940'ies it would be a shock, a betrail. But nowdays, no...it's professionalism.

Long live careerism! Long live the values of money and greed! Bravo, that's the spirit of the new century!
Economy, cold heart and ratio above all!

Exactly. And the other parts show you how deep we have all fallen in some human terms.
Locke Lamora
As for the whole "Leo desperately needs the money" arguement, why did he say it would betray his past to join Roma then? It's pretty obvious he would have earned more than enough to make a comfy living at Roma, and to first say what he said only to join Milan's enemy number 1 (regardless of what some twit or another may think) is so stupid I have to wonder wether it's intentional.

That's were we'll never see eye to eye. For some of us this is about more than two differently named sporting companies exchanging employees. If you don't share that view, well, your loss, but don't act as if you have some kind of moral monopoly while ridiculing any opposite sentiments.
X-Offender
You know what? You're right. But I guess I don't care that much because Leo does not hold any special place in my rossonero heart. Now if Kaka' was to join Inter, I wouldn't get sleep for nights.

Also, Leo seemed such a great guy during his period as our coach (which is when I got to know him better), never abusing his position and always confronting problems with a smile on his face, whilst any other coach would have raised his voice. He's always been a gentleman, and that I appreciate a lot. But yeah, what he's done now could very well transcribed into betrayal, so I understand all the fuss.

We shouldn't wish him luck or anything of course, but he can make his own choices on where he wants to work. Heck, maybe there's a chance he instills some class over there.

And our club dumped him, it's not like he's choosing them over us anyways.

Personally I don't really think Leo had anything to do with it. It was all Benitez, Leo has the highest points average of any side since he's taken over Inter, their run to claw their way back into contention was hugely impressive imo.

His incompetency against top sides is his biggest downfall as a coach, but I'll stil hand this one over to Benitez. Thankyou fat waiter as the English like to call you king.gif

Very much agreed with a very rational post. king.gif Leonardo has massive drawbacks against top sides who can figure him out, and defensively he is practically a no-body. But he did what he could in the league. I know a few inter fans, and they were practically hoping against hope to make at least the 4th place and CL.

2nd place and getting back in the title race was not even in their wildest dreams at the half-way point.

Surely Benitez did most of the work, after Milan's stumbles they had gotten close and the second derby defeat was the final blow.

I love them both! smile.gif It seems like Inter are getting back to their good old self.

Strange no-one's brought it up yet. Gattuso was filmed signing "Leonardo uomo di merda (Leonardo piece of sh*t)" along with the fans during the celebrations in Rome. Here is the footage. Today, Leonardo responded to the situation.

QUOTE
Leonardo hits back at Gattuso

Inter boss Leonardo has asked Gennaro Gattuso for an explanation after the Milan man sang a derogatory chant about him during the Scudetto celebrations.

Following the 0-0 draw with Roma which clinched the Scudetto, Gattuso joined in with a section of the Milan fans as they chanted against the former Rossoneri boss.

The incident hasn’t been lost on Leonardo, a man who joined Inter in December, and he’s gone as far as making a statement on the Inter website.

"The day I decided to leave Milan, Gattuso said to me that I had at least been coherent in my choice,” the note from the Nerazzurri boss states.

“But today I read in lots of papers that he still wants to give his own version of events.

“I would very much like to know what he has to say, since neither on the phone nor in person has that ever been possible.

"Furthermore, I would like to know what Milan's official position is on this matter.”

Leonardo and Gattuso had a difficult relationship while the Brazilian was in charge of the Diavolo last season.

“Leonardo is upset about this,” Inter President Massimo Moratti stated when questioned on the subject.

“The incident speaks for itself. It’s something that is not representative of Milan, but of the man even if I think something needs to be done.

“There’s no polemic, these things happen in moments of excessive celebrations. It’s normal, because it has been a long time since they’ve had such a party.”

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani is eager to play down the situation. “Let’s not make a drama out of this,” he said. “I haven’t seen the footage but I think it is just a venial sin.”

Take your smelly piece of underwear and get the fudge out to Russia! mad.gif angry.gif realmad.gif That's all I have to say. There was a time (just a few years back) when I used to say that we were the classiest club around, and people used to agree. Not a single person used to dispute this fact. Sadly this is not the case now.

I was watching it live the shtick Gattuso pulled in the inter match leading up to the red card, and our eventual defeat. Now no single player should have the monopoly on the starting XI. We don't even know what transpired in the dressing room that night. sad.gif For all we know Leonardo may be wrong, but that is still no reason for an official Milan player to behave like this. And worst still the management should have the balls to punish him. They let him go scott free after the CL incident earlier this year. It's not the stupid acts that matter, it's the harm it does to the club that should be the cause for concern.

Thanks for bringing this to attention, X-Off. Never would have noticed this myself. O Paolo, where art thou?!
Fillipo Simone
I think you're overreacting and also look at our history way to idealistic. Baresi, Desailly, Gullit, Savicevic and many others weren't angels also.
acid911
Yeah, maybe Paolo spoiled me in this regard. smile.gif For me there is only one captain, Ambrosini, whatever a player he is at the time of this writing. Besides, most of the players you mentioned were not captains, anyway. But my point is that even I don't call inter merda. And secondly, most fans like to point fingers at other clubs (Barca, Madrid and others), but good behavior from their own club and players should be first and foremost. The term "classy" should be earned.

Little did Gattuso gained after pulling this stunt with those ultra basturds. That remains a fact.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about Inter and a so-called disgrace. It's a celebration, let them do what they want for one night. Sure they aren't classy as Maldini, but who really is?

What bothers me more is the general behavior of the Allegri Milan. I don't in particular like the mentality of the team, an the fact that players like Ibra, Gattuso, van Bommel and even Boateng start to dominate.
