But sorry Acid, we disagree.
Fair enough.

Different perspective, I guess. I just don't think too highly of labeling anyone traitor or calling them of disrespecting a club where they played most of their career. These are professional players and coaches, and well they have to do what is best for their family. Sure what Figo or our own Sheva did hurt fans, but I stand by their choices as professionals. They took a decision by moving to a rival club or wanted to try different leagues. In my humble opinion, it should not take even a day from the time they spent at Barcelona or Milan, respectively.
Having said that, I do completely agree with you that there is quite a bit of malice involved in the case of Leonardo, Moratti and Mr. B. And frankly the Italian media and former coaches were all praise for Leo when he stood up to Berlusconi.

They thought of him as a brave individual. Part of me believes that our recent signing spree this summer had got to do with Mr. B giving a middle-finger salute to Leo by singing up a ton of players (which in my opinion, we needed a few seasons back). Leonardo will just be returning the favor, which he has every right to, more so after the public name calling and humiliation by Berlusconi (towards the end of last season).
And by the way, Milan got the services of Leo, it's not like they gave him free money.

Leo's best days were both in Milan and with the Brazil NT (more so with the national team, I'd say, people know him much more in the canary yellow jersey). As for his final days, he returned the money after he got injured. Galliani still recalls that classy incident. In fact, truth be told Leo did a tad bit more for Milan than what the club did for him - not just as a player, but a coach and transfer guru too. We do have to keep in mind that he is still the Golden Boy in Brazil, commands much respect, and was influential in bringing the likes of Kaka, Pato and Silva. I rate his skills as a transfer guru quite a lot more than a scout - if he set his sights on a player, he made sure he got him in the red and black.
PS. I have never been a fan of Leonardo, just respected his talent and class.

But let's cut it down the middle here, shall we. None of this should have or should be happening in the first place. At least I wish it didn't. And the guy was still our transfer expert, and never be forced into taking the coaching job.
