I surely hope he does not make his decisions based on nationality.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I'd be more comfortable right now if Dida was starting in the keeper position, I was watching training yesterday on Milan channel and he seemed perfectly ok.

I don't think we can say anything until we see the CL team sheet. I don't think Leo would be naive enough to go into the CL with just Roma and Storari until Abbiati gets back.

QUOTE

its the funniest statement i've ever heard of. Caroline probably had no clue what she said!

The comments on goal.com regarding this are worldclass too LOL!

lool Abramovic doesnt stand a chance agaisnt God's financial power, go God.

QUOTE
If this Madrid team doesnt start performing right away, God can take that money away, i hear he has little patience for failure, he is a bit like Palermo president Zamparini, which means if Real Madrid fails to win one of their first 10 official matches God will take the money back and maybe even injury some of the players (but not seriously because God is a nice guy).

QUOTE
I hope SATAN take charges of AC MILAN now. Or Manchester United.

QUOTE
Hey clubs should use their own funds, now God comes in, all mighty and all and starts pouring cash in Real, what has football become!

QUOTE
If God has this much money how come He doesnt appear in those Forbes 500 lists? Tax evasion? If He is everywhere He should be taxed by all countries. Maybe He just won the lottery or something. In that case congratulations God and good luck with Your investment.

QUOTE
Hey Platini why dont you say something about this God guy putting his money in Madrid?

QUOTE
Come on God you should be helping Roma or Lazio since the Vatican is inside Rome. Why did You choose Madrid they dont really need You're help! If He starts helping Kaka on the field to can Uefa suspend him for doping? I mean if they find "God's substance" in his blood?

QUOTE
this is the funniest thing i've ever read here. God is a Madridista. No wonder they have so many titles, and i always thought it was because the spanish government and banks favoured them, but it seems they are filled with good and loving people, Perez must be A saint for God to give him 70m euros, the Pope should look into this, Perez could be a living saint imagine that!

Well as far as we know Leo has dropped Dida to the last pick. So even if he does recover I doubt he'll play over storari.

In other words right now its

Abbiati
Storari
Roma
Dida

I don't understand this either, he's better then Storari and should be playing. I personally don't feel comfortable with Storari in goal, he might make the amazing save here and there but he's not solid, he sometimes comes out too quickly and ends up back tracking or heading the ball, thats asking for trouble and I don't trust him with the high balls either

I dunno. The flare turned him from Dirty Harry to Inspector Clousseau. It was the Celtic incident that really changed things.

he was **** well before then ^

I agree. Hence the Inspector Clousseau reference.

The real calls for his head started after the infamous Celtic dive. He'd actually 'disgraced' the club at the European stage.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that he was never the same after the flare. He remained first choice but his form was gone. Which I am not surprised by - being assaulted by a flying ball of fire and thinking you're going to be seriously injured if not worse would damage anyone psychologically. Shame, because until that moment he was the world's best imo.

As for the Celtic incident, yeah, that seemed to spell the end for him as a first team regular.

Not really, because he played well after the incident up until the goddamned Inter match. That's what did him in as starter.

The Inter match was before the Celtic game.

We're talking about the same stuff, right? The CL quarter against Inter where the flare struck him in 2005, and Inter's fans were banned from 6 CL games at the Meazza - then the Celtic incident happened 2 or 3 years after.

I think she was talking about the Inter game where Cruz owned him at the near post, then a Maldini cushioned header was hit straight at him by Cambiasso, but he let it go straight over him. Stuff of nightmares.

No, the Inert match two days before Christmas in 2007, which was nearly three months after Celtic (Kurt summed it up already). I still get pissed off thinking about it to this day.

Since you brought it up, he never felt comfortable playing Inert again after the flare. Before that, he straight owned them on a regular basis.

MizNelson
He still always got it up for Juve matches, though, because he loved facing Buffon. Why couldn't we have played them that day instead?
whoarethepatriots
Dida was a monster from 2003 till 2005, i could easily say back then, that he was among the top 3 goalkeepers in the world. The flare had (what i presume) some deep psychological impact on him. He didnt turn poor overnight, but creaks were beginning to show in his game. My confidence in him was slowly deteriorating at that point onwards. It was during the 07/08 season that i (and many others including Carlo) completely lost confidence in him. He was making making howlers on a regular basis, and was too much of a liability to play. i think you guys are right in that after the 2007 Inter match, he was not considered our first choice keeper, (Kalac outperformed him! calamity Jane!)
MizNelson
Pretty much everything went wrong for him in 07-08, from Celtic to Inert to throwing his back out at Parma and then losing the #1 spot to Kalac (a major indignity for anyone), and he just shut down mentally that season as a result. He even had that uncharacteristic shouting match with Rino during the Urawa match in the CWC. There was a related article from Gazzetta which Tennie posted some time ago, but I can't find it.

That year was the reason why he finally stopped cutting all those designs in his hair and let it grow out for the next season.

Dida can be discussed and his up's and down's emphesized, but to me it still remains unquestionable - he's much better then Storari. I can't understand what's happening. It's simply stupid to degrade such a keeper to 4th choice.

Dida wasn't degraded to 4th choice, he's just injured.

I agree on the quality issue, there's no doubt he's better than Storari but honestly I do not feel safe with Dida between the posts. He can make world class saves but it's maybe more probable that he'll make a shaky mistake. I think he has lost all confidence he had.
