For goalkeepers - it's irrelevant which age they are IMO. Got nothing to do with the direction of a teams/clubs direction...

True, but I was speaking in general (ex. Gattuso). Still, like Dracoris said, Dida's time was up and him leaving was the best solution for both.
MizNelson
Despite my grief at his departure, I believe that it was a good time for him to go. He ended his Milan career on a high (benching Storari and Abbiati and overall having a good season) and ten years is a pretty obscene number to spend with one club, especially for a foreigner.

Assuming he does indeed sign with a Brazilian team, the fact that he spent his entire European club career just with Milan is pretty darn special.

There's been a Dida sighting!! *dissolves into fangirl mode*

DIDA SAYS HELLO
8/11/2010 2:28:00 PM

Nelson Dida dropped in to wish Milan all the best for next season. The goalkeeper who spent 10 years with the Rossoneri spoke to Milan Channel.

MILANELLO - Nelson Dida dropped in at Milanello today to wish Milan all the best for the upcoming season. The goalkeeper who was European champion with Milan in 2003 and 2007 spoke to Milan Channel.

“It’s a pleasure for me to return to Milanello and catch up with everybody; they all gave me a warm welcome. Being here is great."

Nelson, what does the future hold for you?
“I am waiting for a new club. I was on holiday with my family in Brazil and now I am back here in Italy. I am looking for a new club, there are a couple of offers, but nothing has been decided yet. I think I'll have to wait another couple of weeks before my future is sorted out.”

What was your feeling on your return to Milanello?
“It's great to have the chance to come back to Milanello. I've seen that some things have changed in the structure. My former team-mates are hard at work, as is usual in this phase of the pre-season. I am truly delighted to be here.

What about my compatriots Ronaldinho, Pato and Thiago Silva? I maintain that they are very important players for Milan. With them in the team, with Gattuso, with Pirlo and all the other champions, Milan are a strong side and even if no big name signings have been made, these players, who are great players, are here. I think this team will do well this year.”

Are you missing football?
“I'll always miss it. I am not doing nothing, though. Now I'll start working on my own to stay fit so if I find a team I'll be able to play straight away.”

Wow, nobody looks sexier in a rather snug T-shirt. smile.gif And he doesn't seem to have moved away from Milano after all as some of the dirtsheets had reported. However, it's going to be REALLY hard seeing him in a different uniform if and when he signs with another team.

IF he signs for another team...

I thought he went to Liverpool. What happened with that?

Nope. Just rumors, the same kind that had him going to Barca in '07 and learning English in order to join Newcastle late last year.

You follow a player long enough, you learn how to weed out the trash from the treasure over time in terms of media reports.

According to the latest dirtsheet reports, Racing Santander may be interested in him. (The key words are "may be.")

Is he still without a team? I thought he was going back to Brazil...

Yep, I mean...it's Dida, he's still a very good keeper for a mid-ambitious team. He could do better then Racing.

He came with Maldini to a charity foundation volleyball match. I'm glad he still has ties with the club..as does Maldini.

I want to see Maldini more involved with the club workings though.

Not going to happen, anytime soon. stop.gif Not until there is a change of management (B&G), he probably has seen the inner workings of the club, and probably has a pretty good reason for keeping his distance in the managerial side of things. Though as long as he makes regular appearances to San Siro during matches, I'm game!

Yeah, I read about it on milannews.it. That friggin' ruled, especially since he did it with Paolo. Beach volleyball is his favorite sport outside of football.

Dida has said that he wants to finish his career in Europe instead of Brazil. Case in point, the offer he (allegedly) recently turned down from Santos.

Its said to be mainly in relation to the management's treatment of the situation caused by the Curva Sud.

Can't say I blame him.

Happy Birthday!! king.gif He turns 37 today.
acid911
Yay, happy birthday, El Panthero! king.gif You don't look a year above 30, LOL.
Fillipo Simone
I still wonder why he didn't find a new club? He's still a-above average keeper at least.
Linkman
Why settle for a mid-class team? After such a career, it's probably gold or nothing to him.
Fillipo Simone
I suppose a Brazilian top team, like Santos or Flu could get him, right?
Zed.D
Happy birthday Dida! I still have mixed feelings about you and not sure if I loved you or not. I liked you as a person but your mistakes pissed me off! now that you're gone, I think I more loved you than not.

EDIT: I just read this and it sounds really ridiculous! please ignore biggrin.gif

So sorry, X-Offender. Forgot you were the only one permitted to have an opinion. smile.gif I'll be on my way.
X-Offender
Look people, I'm entitled to express my opinion. Whether you like it or not, it's not my problem. I'm not offending anyone of you, nor am I offending any Milan players or their families. My opinion is purely football related. Sometimes it may be nice, sometimes it may be naughty. It's not against forum rules.
Fillipo Simone
So am I. And don't talk about not being offensive or disrespectfull. Just for start, your avatar is disrespectfull - coming from a man who's not a Allegri fan at all.

Avatar? You mean signature. Again, football related. I don't have anything against Allegri personally, I just don't approve his coaching methods, so far. From a professional point of view, I can be as critical as I want. I don't care whether you approve or not.
Linkman
There's one thing called criticism, and then there's being nasty just for the sake of it. We know it's your opinion (on account of being a post from your account), but wording it a little nicer is better for those of us who disagree.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Oct 7 2010, 03:59 PM) *

I remember some teams were interested back in the summer, but nothing came out of it.
X-Offender
Why should I word it a little nicer? In the end, an opinion remains an opinion, no matter how you express it. Besides, I don't really get what the fuss is all about. What is wrong with "Inzaghi should be shown the door" or "Maybe no one cared about signing him because he's not that good at all"? Are you people really that sensitive over something so trivial? It's just a frigging opinion for crying out loud.
Linkman
Well, because even though it's an opinion, you're trying to tell it to us. If you're keeping it to yourself you can be as mean as you want, but as long as you're in a discussion forum with other people, some respect is highly appreciated smile.gif.
Dracoris
No offense, but it would greatly benefit your arguments X if you proposed your theories and opinions in a more respectful manner. I sometimes catch myself writing things on here and deleting them before I post, sometimes I let meaner and less respectful things slip, and those are usually the times I have a hard time convincing people to agree with me. Just my personal experience.

For what its worth though, I do think its time to show Inzaghi the door, with an honorable discharge of course.

He was AC Milan's #1 and it was said Liverpool were after him. my point is, I can't believe he's not good enough for any team in Europe or in Brazil. I think you underrate him a little too much. sure, he made mistakes every now and then, but he wasn't by any means a not-good-enough keeper.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Oct 8 2010, 12:40 AM) *

Um.. don't know biggrin.gif but why didn't he sign with another team if he wants to continue?

Dida once again dropped by Milanello yesterday and gave a quick interview about Milan's GKs, and, of course, the Brazilian players.
