CARLO ANCELOTTI: ’Oliveira is strong, but we have other strikers’

MILANELLO - With the transfer market closing, Ancelotti had this to say: ’If Borriello stays at Milan, we have nothing more to demonstrate. Tomorrow evening is important for everyone, those who don’t play as much. I think Bonera, Nesta or Maldini will play a half. Kaladze has had less time and will probably play on September 4. If Oliveira doesn’t arrive then we won’t pull our hair out as we have other good strikers. He had the charateristics to enable him to play alongside Inzaghi or Gilardino. The big names have not arrived, I have never said that a good transfer market comes with the big names. We have a lot of youngster with potential: Gourcuff is one of those.’

Carlo Ancelotti insists if Milan don’t sign Ricardo Oliveira, they won’t net any strikers, and claims Kaka will never leave San Siro.

“If he doesn’t arrive, then we won’t tear our hair out, but he is a great striker despite the fact not many people in Italy seem to know who he is,” noted the tactician.


Oliveira has undergone a medical at MilanLab, but the transfer appears to have collapsed with Real Betis Sevilla suddenly raising the £10m price-tag on the Brazilian.


“Considering the characteristics he has, he’s the best player that we can pair with Pippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino. If we sign Oliveira then that’s great, but alternatively we’ll stay as we are.”


This slams the door on continuing reports that Oliveira was only ever a ploy to push Real Madrid into lowering their demands over Ronaldo.


The Rossoneri are still in negotiations for Massimo Oddo from Lazio and rumoured to be tracking Didier Drogba, but the huge summer signing to replace Chelsea-bound Andriy Shevchenko has not materialised yet.


“The big name didn’t come, but it’s not necessarily true that a successful transfer campaign is one packed with stars. We have many promising young players in the squad, above all Yoann Gourcuff. The side is also compact and familiar from previous seasons, so we hopefully won’t need long before getting into gear. Having an eight-point handicap gives us extra motivation to do well.”


The Calciopoli scandal rocked the Rossoneri this summer, as their Champions League presence was at first cancelled and then given a reprieve via the preliminary round win over Red Star Belgrade.


The future of their star names was also in doubt with Real Madrid’s continual requests for Kaka, but Ancelotti was always confident their bids would remain unsuccessful.


“Kaka will never leave Milan. He is a symbol of this club and will have the same status here as Paolo Maldini, Gennaro Gattuso and Andrea Pirlo. Shevchenko wanted to leave in the last few weeks and we don’t regret that move because Milan never keep hold of someone who doesn’t want to be here.”

Pessimism, pessimism...just pessimism at this board. I repeat, I saw many teams winning titles with less talent, players and intelligence. So, for one season, just one, why the hell should we not be the lucky team? And also, here at Milan, everything has a reason, so it`s sure not that our board suddendly forgot how to bring a top player here at Milan.

Also, after the Calciopoli, it`s maybe wise to stay just a season out of the spotlight...

Because Drogba is much better striker.

Barcelona, Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Lyon were the major teams that won real trophies last season. League titles and the CL trophies are the primary trophies.

These are the top teams in the world with the best players in the world. Most have won several in a row, and its not because of luck.

At the same time it make the club look weaker in the eyes in potential transfers.

A) they have purchased Ricardo Oliveira from Real Betis Balompié and that he has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until June 30, 2011;
they have transfered Johann Vogel to Real Betis Balompiè;
C) they have come to a mutual agreement with Marcio Amoroso.

Good news I really don't think we need Oddo, I'd much prefer Gallas.

Not exactly true..he has much potential and is a way better technician then Vieri ever was...No, no, Drogba has that certain feeling...

The last days I`m telling this over and over again...Gallas is way better. But it seems to me this is our way of dealing: Oddo joins for the 06/07 season on loan, then we get Gallas for the 07/08 season for free, and return Oddo to Lazio..

And for those who said they wanted Gallas instead of Oddo, I just want to say that you can't compare the 2 Oddo is a RB and Gallas is a CB and sometime he plays as a LB but never as a RB. And who said that Oddo isn't good? Oddo is a great player and just the fact that a great player said that he wants to come to Milan at all costs is very satisfying, these are the kind of players Milan need not some who would just jump ship at any site of trouble
