ContraCampo is reporting that Billy had a meeting with the GM of Renault in London. The meeting was a job offer to coach Queens Park Rangers ( a club which the British Royals have a close link with, whatever that means).

Which division do Queens Park Ranger play in anyways unsure.gif
Tennie
QPR play in the Championship in England. They're currently third from bottom (22nd place).
dst
Have you seen him on Milan's bench!?? Did he refuse to take the job or anything? Maybe he considers the proposal from QPR... Have you read anything on the Italian section of the official site, Tennie, Porty? unsure.gif

I still want the testimonial game!!!!!!!!! dry.gif
Tennie
Carletto made a comment about Billy having told him about the offer in his prematch interview before the Siena game. That's all I've seen.

cry.gif cry.gif Lovely clip. The ovations at that last match (the one the clip shows him waving to the crowd and getting tossed into the air) were amazing. I'm so glad I was there.

It's a shame really that we have not seen a proper testimonial yet!! Show some respect for ****'s sake!! mad.gif

I think I know why. There's a problem in the Costacurta household, as Gazzetta has revealed in an article today. (I only translated part of it. Please note that it's a quick translation and doesn't really convey the very humorous tone of the original). link

MY SON IS AN INTERISTA

[Paragraph about Martina Colombari guest starring in a popular Italian tv show.]

“The problem,” Colombari says, “is at home. My husband is a Milanista and our son has become an Interista.” Who would have thought it? The mythical Billy, symbol of Milan, collaborating with coach Carlo Ancelotti, ‘betrayed’ by little Achille? Martina makes an admission, laughing: “It all started last year with the celebration of Inter’s scudetto: Achille saw it on tv and now all he wants is nerazzuro. Believe it or not, in his bathroom is the Inter scudetto. His father?” Martina adds, joking, He’d take it. But now he’s resigned.” Achille is small, he’s still got time to change his mind.

When you like a club from a young age, you often become attached. It’s often dictated from family reasons or because there’s a champion that appeals to you. The fact is that the sons of footballers generally follow the teams of their fathers (could you imagine Paolo Maldini’s sons being interistas?). But Achille has decided to the contrary. We’ll see what sort of response there is when Billy’s asked if Achille's preference is: 1. because he wasn’t interested in Milan’s celebrations of the CL?; 2. because the tv wasn’t turned off when Inter’s celebrations were on; 3. because he prefers Materazzi to Maldini; and one last unavoidable question: where have I gone wrong?

pff man what a retarded lil brat. why not spit in his dads face?

In the bathroom there's the Inter scudetto? Maybe it's on the toilet so that he can pee on it... maybe he's on an Inter fan after all.

This is somewhat speculative, but Milannews is reporting that Billy's close to finishing the coursework for his UEFA Pro coaching license and that he's already under consideration for the head coaching job at some interesting places: QPR, Paris St. Germain, and (ack!) the Huns. They go on to say that such a job would be a suitable apprenticeship before he comes back to take the head coaching job at Milan.

He should work alongside Leonardo!

I'd rather he went to QPR....aren't the other two rather big clubs. And an Italian managing in France??!! unsure.gif

Love the guy ! If there was any great defender, then there is Billy. If you had the chance to see the Vialli incident, that speaks of what a player Billy was.

I hate it when I see great players getting old, and not being able to watch them play again.

Tennie
Yep.smile.gif I got to see his last game too.

(by the way, I've got a scanned version of a few pages of that match program. pm me if you'd like a copy)

Now let's hope Billy can do something about changing Little Achille's mind on favourite teams!

Whom one day coaches Milan to champions league glory king.gif
whoarethepatriots
He needs experience, i hope he goes there
morgoth
ControCampo is reporting that Billy is wanted by Rimini, Benfica and Monaco smile.gif

It would be great if he went to Benfica, mostly for the european experience, or Mocano for the league experience. I believe both have a decent squad with some young and talented player, it'll be a very good experience for our future coach cool.gif devilsmiley.gif king.gif

I just saw that. Benfica /are/ looking for a new coach for next year, as the team has been an absolute mess this year and Camacho resigned partway through the season. It'd be a rebuilding thing there, but Billy'd have an old friend in Lisbon: Rui Costa is retiring at the end of this season and it's pretty much a given that he'll become a club director of some sort for Benfica.
morgoth
He'd also have another old friend at Monaco ... Marco Simone smile.gif

Billy has a lot of friends sleep.gif happy.gif
dst
I don't see Billy as a coach. I think he'd be a much better sporting director or something like that. Maybe a scouter. Then again, coaching is what he seems to prefer so I hope he proves me wrong! smile.gif
morgoth
Yeah, but that's because he has too much class to sit on the bench cool.gif king.gif

Filipo Galli will take Billy's place next to Ancelott ... Billy is set to leave Milan to coach a club.

I thought Tassotti was his assistant, not Billy huh.gif
Tennie
Carletto's currently got Tassotti and Billy both as assistants. Galli..it's an interesting pick. Galli has done quite well with the youth teams.

AC Milan and the world's most underrated defender ever.
morgoth
I don't Billy was underrated, he was just unlucky to play with the likes of Baresi and Maldini. He's a great champion and a true gentleman king.gif
Tennie
Not sure if this has been mentioned in other places, but Marca has reported (and it's been repeated by newspapers/websites in Italy) that Getafe have offered Billy the head coaching job.

The Getafe owner apparently asked Arrigo Sacchi about Billy and got a glowing recommendation.

According to the story, Billy's thinking about it for a few days as his wife is not sure she wants to leave Italy.
Rossoneri7
Billy should go off and gain some experience. I wish to see him at the Milan bench, and I believe he will be the coach of Milan one day.

Good luck legend devil.gif
Tennie
I'd love it if he went to Getafe. There are nonstop flights between DC and Madrid and that's usually the route I take to get to Italy so it wouldn't be hard to stop off and catch a Getafe game on the way to Milan. smile.gif
morgoth
I'm not sure about Spain for Carlo, I'd prefer him to coach in Italy or France ...
KillerMax
Yeah, an Italian team for me too. Costacurta is too Italian for Spain.
Rossoneri7
Billy had just graduated from the Italian Coaching Academy ... He is now a licensed Serie A coach !!

Congrats Legend devil.gif devil.gif

Wow. congrats Billy! hope you are more offensive minded than Carlo.

Way more. tongue.gif Then again, Costacurta was primarily a defender so that has to count somewhere. But I'd want a moderate coach, someone who balances all aspects of the game. He'd be close to a perfect coach, in my opinion.
armiss
Our beloved will be new coach of Pisa (controcampo)
Tennie
There's nothing on Pisa's website yet, but this'd be a good move for Billy. Pisa did rather well last year in Serie B.

There's only one problem.

Pisa's colors are blue and black.
