More than anything it was nice to see the players give 110% out there for a change. It felt like they wanted to prove something to the zebra scum. Showed a lot of character and determination. But we need to try to use this momentum to make a run of good results and create continuity, otherwise it will just be 3 very sweet points in the sea of sour mediocrity.

I doubt Yepes can handle playing every 3 days. Zapata is the way to go with Yepes as a solid back up.

He's suspended for the next game, so I guess Zapata will play, unless Allegri plays Acerbi again.
Fillipo Simone
No. I would really keep the CB-pairing as it is - we need them to be confident, and the two now have this momentum.
TriniKing_CE
Fillipo, while I agree with you, I don't mind Zapata coming in now and again; the few times he has gotten minutes he has done well each time in my opinion. Yepes is an experienced lad and wouldn't require a whole lot the get back into the game even with rotation being introduced, but on the other hand I agree the chemistry between our CB pairing could suffer a bit from a lack of consistency.
Fillipo Simone
Surely, after all, Yepes is 36.

Couldn't watch it because of exams. But **** yeah!I've dreamt about this win and it feels so good!

Silvio Berlusconi, jokingly, when leaving Giannino: "Beating Juve with a dubious penalty makes the victory even sweeter."

Great match.

Absolutely agree with X-Off that our fullbacks were key. I think our shutting down both Isla and Asamoah in the end proved the key point. The downside of course is that we basically left our skins on the pitch. It's probably not possible to play at this intensity week in-week out.

I have to give props to Allegri, in the end he found a way to counter the 'unstoppable' 3-5-2 and use it against them. What we could have done with Ibra in the squad!!! :-D

Best performance of the team this season. And what a turnout at the Siro. Berlusca, Uncle Fester (who true to form ran to the changing rooms towards the end), Braida and that man MvB. Most importantly 78,000 rabid fans at the Siro with some amazing choreography. They really got behind the team and in a good way.

And watching Monty and Noce pumping up the crowd... took me back to that night against Manchester Utd!! biggrin.gif

You see Juve can have their fancy stadium, it makes them money- cool. We got a tremendous atmosphere. WOW!

Read a stat that said, we made probably close to 3 million from ticket sales this match! blink.gif

Galliani: It could have ended 0-0
By Football Italia staff

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani insists the Diavolo are on their way back – although the game against Juventus could have ended 0-0.

The Rossoneri beat the Italian champions 1-0 at San Siro on Sunday thanks to a penalty which Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri admitted was the wrong decision.

Pep Guardiola would have said it was a penalty,” Galliani joked. “We have to understand where the arm starts.

“Without that penalty, the game would have perhaps ended 0-0 instead.”

Milan have had a problematic start to the season, but the official is optimistic that they are back on the right path.

“I’m happy,” he added. “We are starting to do well again. We already played well at Napoli and against Anderlecht.

“They seemed like our three hardest games, but this is football and we are more than satisfied with them.”

Galliani also praised two Milan players in particular for their performances. “Riccardo Montolivo demonstrated that he is a true champion. Mattia De Sciglio was also out of this world this evening.”

They can't stop talking about Pep. I mean what the hell has Pep to do with that statement? he could've as well said "Mourinho".

Make me wonder if we have already agreed terms with him.

Great win cool.gif doesn't change my mind about Allegri, but now's not the time. Forza Milan!

I think it was a tongue-in-cheek comment. The media has been awash with Pep to Milan rumours. That being said, I have to say Max Allegri has been pretty professional about his handling of things.

It's not just the win, I have to say I saw the best of Max in the last game. The team-play, the measured aggression, the chilled out interviews everything.

Now comes the two steps back. I hope we can win against Catania or else this all goes to shite.
Fillipo Simone
Yep, this is the famous step forward. Now let's see. History is against the man.

They started all the Pep to Milan rumors! as I said I feel like they've agreed terms with Pep but can't keep it under their hats because they're too excited biggrin.gif

As for the two steps back, this time I'm gonna wait and see. if this will not be the turning point of our season then there's absolutely no hope. but something tells me we'll be able to get results from now on though I can't see us playing good football too.
Jack Sparrow
No. Good football with this team is impossible. We do not have the technical quality and I wouldn't force Max into it either. That would be unfair. But we can still play hard and fast like we saw yesterday.

I don't know. He shut down Isla, then he adapted to Padoin and Pogba. Montolivo had no real marker. It's a tie for me, but Constant was more instrumental if you ask me.

I thought Constant was good, like 6.5 good, but other players had a better game than him.

He's by far the best LB we've had since Jankulovski in his golden days.
Fillipo Simone
Yep. Hopefully we'll adapt him permanently for this position.

Isn't Constant on loan btw?

This would be another ideal opportunity for Genoa to rip us off once again.

And people wonder why Preziosi is so quick to buddy up to Galliani. Of course!! He's gotten millions off us. Boriello, SES money + Merkel and now this

Loan with option to buy. I'm hoping there's already a price in the agreement, otherwise as you said they'll probably try and rip us off.

I heard and read a lot of good things about our performance in this game so I decided to watch it... sh**, we must have been playing pretty bad (well the results I guess reflect that) for what I saw to be considered good in any way! That was just a low quality Italian team defensive play with very bad counter-attacks. I don't see how we even deserved to win this, which I heard a lot in a "well the penalty was non-existent but we deserved this win" way. We did not even get near the Juventus box in the first 20 mins of the second half. We did have quite a few players who did well individually - though you're always going to have that when playing a solely defensive game - but as a unit, our defense was disorganized and very shaky. But the worst thing was the counter-attacks. I mean, you want to play that way at least work on that during the week. Terrible execution when we went on the counter that resulted in badly taken shots or no shots taken at all. I liked De Sciglio defensively - though Asamoah should not really be able to test any decent player. All of the defenders/midfielders did well while in particular De Jong and Montolivo were pretty impressive I think. The front three were reduced to defending and did not do anything worth noting. Juventus were awful. A bad match overall.

As a side note and I know I've said this before but I really hate it that FIFA are keeping football in the Middle Ages. Seriously, how much would 1 min to review if that was penalty or not would slow the game down? The penalty execution and celebration last more than that...

You said it, compared to most of the games we've played this season, this was a good game. of course we have played a few better games, but against much inferior sides (except only Napoli). no one expected us to beat Juve, almost everyone who said so were just being silly IMO.

I actually think our defense was organized. You're perhaps looking at the second half?

Roughly around the first 20 minutes is when I noticed Boateng start pressuring Pirlo, with Noce, SES and Robbie rushing the defenders. Buffon simply had no one to play it off to.

Asamoah has actually been the revelation of the season for Juve. He's been simply tremendous to them. In fact their wingbacks and Pirlo have been so tremendous, that I think our boys deserve a lot of credit for shutting them down.

Out attack is still disoriented. I do think we need something to happen there and I'm not sure what.

Juventus were 30% awful of their own making (Marchisio and Isla had off games). The rest was us making them look bad.

But yes, the fact that our previous displays have been so abject might be making us a little over-happy.

I think you missed the point of it though dst.

Yes, it wasn't great and yes most of us were so happy because of how terrible we've been this season.

But mostly I think it was a great tactical gameplan which was executed to perfection by the players. For once I saw everyone giving their all and a tactical setup which was smart from Allegri.

Juve have a very distinctive style and in order to beat them you have to play a certain way. It wasn't just as simple as saying we were playing like a mid-table team that parked the bus. It was a smart plan that worked at stopping them from overrunning us and if an opportunity presented itself then we would take it. I think we saw from last season where we had a much better team where they outran us completely and we ended up losing pretty much every time we faced them. It's pointless to try and beat them at their own game, and now that Inter have shown how to achieve it, it will become easier for the following teams.

In fact, we played it like we should have last season, let them come at you and then stifle them, it will make Pirlo's job a million times harder as players don't have spaces to run into, thus 90% of his effectiveness is lost. We should know this better then anyone as it's what most mid-table sides used to do to us. And Pirlo without any movement ahead of him is pretty much useless

And about the penalty, I don't care that it was a wrong call, in fact I'm happy about it. After all the terrible calls Juve have received in their favour this season it was time for something like this to happen, and I'm especially happy that we were the team to benefit from it after the Muntari goal from last season

I don't get what the plan was... I did not see any plan other than sit back and don't leave any spaces. You can say it was a plan because they're fast and they can beat you that way but it really was a bad team playing against a good team and the only way to beat them is to sit back, defend and don't give them any space. At least that's how I see it. The only difference is, other bad teams can actually counter-attack effectively as we've found out quite a few times in recent years.
