He's finished

At least we beat them in normal time

Well, we gave all we could and did beat them in 90 min with this - hardly our best - line up.

Well, we gave all we could and did beat them in 90 min with this - hardly our best - line up.

We basically played the backups of our backups, Antonini on the right Seedorf in the center, no real DM... A total mess yet we still managed to beat them and take them to extra time (Pirlo, Marchisio, Vidal, Chiellini, etc) wasting so much energy. While our only real starters for most of the game was Silva, Mexes and Antonini out of position, as Aqui was only given a run out, same goes for Ibra who was sick (should have saved him for later in the game imo)
milanbuf88
Hey Filippo, this match is why Pippo doesn't play. He was useless. He had maybe three touches and maybe one was productive. He doesn't have the killer first step he used to. Without that he can't get any seperation. Easiest striker Juve faced all year. He cant run or defend (never could really) and he doesn't have the skill the help in the build up. The man is a legend but yesterday's glories don't make today's goals. He should have retired after last season.

They still have to actually beat another team, this wasn't the final...

They can take the Inter Cup, but today showed our real strength imo, they only really rested Marchisio and still had to bring him on.

For me, I knew that Allegri had probably given up on the game the moment he brought Pippo on.

We played really bad, and those two goals came out of nowhere. That's the general picture. However, if you consider we managed to beat Juventus playing their best line-up at their home turf with our reserves, then it's mind blowing. Seriously, a big bravo to the boys! This was never about quality, but sheer determination and will. Now if we'd actually passed...

Two remarks, about Seedorf and Inzaghi. I've never seen two players so out of shape and completely hopeless. At some point, it was like we were playing with 9 men. If people wondered why Allegri never plays Inzaghi, you got the answer. It was embarrassing.

drucurl
Big props to Allegri!! Yes I said Allegri.

Playing like this....like a BIG TEAM....unafraid even though we basically had a C squad is rather commendable

Another note Mesbah does NOT belong here. The goal will definitely temper the criticism he receives but had he not been that poor all night we could have spent more time attacking.
amancik
I agree with Allegri. I think there was nothing more we could've done. With the injuries that we have, and Roma and Barca coming up, you can't blame anyone. I don't really have any complaints regarding the match. We battled till the end but just came up short.

Agreed.

Aquilani wasn't ready just yet for that intensity which is why imo, he should have been played in the easier games against Parma and Lecce. Now he has to get back into the swing of things against Roma and Barca.

Seedorf was bad but he's just retured from an injury so I'll give him some time as he could prove very useful in the upcoming weeks.

Muntari and Mesbah... Where do I begin with these 2. That first goal was solely down to Mesbah. He has the ball in acres of space and all he had to do was clear, instead what does he do? He runs sideways to the touchline for some unkown reason and totally gets himself in a whole lot of sh!t. Loses the ball and we conceed as a result. Muntari is just a clumsy idiot on the pitch, he can't even complete a 1 meter pass without losing it, and don't get me started on the stupidity shown after he received that yellow, he actually grabbed the ref and turned him around by the arm after just being booked.

Agreed.

We played our C team literally, aside from Mexes and Silva everyone was either the backup to the backups or played out of position. We played badly yet still handed Juve their first defeat of the season while they were playing their first 11 minus Buffon and Marchisio (who still had to come on fairly early) The only regret is that we took it to extra time for nothing. But at least we took it to extra time with our reserves, not with the first team biggrin.gif

Rip roaring match but Juve have had the edge this season over us and it continues. We did remarkably to win 2-1 in normal time, but the total lethargy and lack of passion in extra time was scandalous - Allegri barely looked interested while Conte was geeing up everyone - Juve wanted it more and while the winner was a screamer, we didn't manage a single shot in ET.

I've not read the thread so sorry if I'm repeating what's been said already, but I was very, very disappointed with the outcome last night.

Allegri was shown furious at times...he has a calm character,I like that about him.Just see his reactions when scoring against Arsenal. Also,we didn't lack passion,we were simply too tired,we had half of the team coming back from injury, thiago silva playing all the time.Basically, the only one who was truly ready and doing well was Mexes.

Having beaten them in 90 minutes showed that they don't have the upper hand, we were awful in the first game in the league and in the 1st leg of the Coppa, but we showed in the San Siro that we are better than they are and last night with our third team basically out there, an entire mess with Seedorf playing as the DM, Antonini at RB, Ibra practically playing a half with the flu, we still beat them, while they put out their first team.

When it went to extra time Juve showed they wanted it more, agreed, but we have our eyes on a bigger prize. And if giving them a shot at the Coppa means we'll win the Serie A and put up a great fight against Barca than so be it. They can have the Inter cup for all I care. I'm more than happy to have beat them in the circumstances we are in.

As for Conte and Allegri, Conte is a clown. Allegri is not one to jump around like an idiot or whine like a little b!tch when things don't go his way

That's because there were no calls against them, as I said in an other thread, Juve's class will only shine through until all is going according to their plans, once that goes astray they show their real low class selves.

I don't think there can be any complaints, we beat Juve away from home in 90 minutes with a mess of a line-up.

Either way, the damage was done in the first leg, so having faught so hard yesterday and seeing that particular 11 take the game to Juve having practically one foot out was enough for most people.

Like Danny I'm disappointed that after having bothered with taking it to extra time, we seemingly took our eye off it.

Can't wait for next season when they'll actually have a hard schedule due to the CL.

Yes I agree that what we did was great, but if we were bad last night than Juve mush have been worse. Like Danny said, we were doing decently up until the FT whistle blew. To suddenly come back onto the pitch and seemingly have an attitude where you don't care either way is what was disappointing for some, I'd rather have left it at 1-1 and not had to play the tiring extra 30 minutes for no reason

Still it would have been great to knock these guys out, and hand them a trophy-less season. sad.gif They've been more arrogant than inter were a couple of years back, and I'll be praying for a Juve loss somehow at the hands of either inter or Napoli. If they go undefeated this season for 38 matches, they can carry that next season too.

And that would mean our record of The Invincible Milan would come under threat.

I don't think you can be called the Invincibles if you end up as losers in the end.

And them somehow managing to stay unbeaten next season as well would be something impossible. This season everything has conspired in their favour, both in terms of injuries and a light schedule. Do you see that happening next season when they have to play every 3 days?

Also techinically we did beat them over 90 minutes, the match ended at 2-1 yesterday.

As for Inter beating them on Sunday, there's no chance in that happening, Inter are absolutely awful. Maybe a draw in the Ranieri way, but certainly not a loss
Fillipo Simone
Sorry, but this goes to far for me? Are we now gonna deceive ourselves and play like we won against Juventus? It was a semifinal, the match went into extra time and we lost, almost without even firing one shout in the additional 30 minutes. We played like cr@p for 45 minutes, and could have conceded more. The we scored and manage to jump back, but the moment Maxi scored our second I knew we're gonna stop. Our midfield disappeared, our team stopped playing and pushing. In the end, Juventus beat us twice and got two favorable draws.

Reserves? Muntari, Thiago, Ibra, El Shaa, Seedorf, Aquilani, Antonini, Mesbah...all of them are more the reserves, they are first team players or at least act much of the time this season as such.

It's pretty unfair to take it out on Seedorf, he just came back after weeks without playing and had to do the whole 120 minutes. If Allegri wouldn't be that obsessed with playing Ibra at all cost, we'd have one more sub to make. Inzaghi was...to be fair...out of touch. In this system, he really appears useless. It's really sad.

Muntari, Mesbah, Seedorf. None of which are starters. One has been in and out from injury all season, Mesbah is I think even behind the 3rd backup at this point after his last 2 displays, and Muntari is nothing but a patch to plug a hole that was brought in. Certainly very far from our best team. Ibra played 45 minutes with the flu. Most of those players have been playing so much because of the injuries. They are certainly not starters

I would only classify Thiago, Aqui and Antonini as starters (Ibra was a non-factor in the game). And even then we had Antonini playing out of position.

We beat Juve over 90 minutes. Hence extra-time. Juve only rested Marchisio from their out-field regulars (Matri doesn't count as he's not a regular). What did you expect? We've been playing with a paper thin squad for weeks now. The fact that we took it to extra time says a lot considering most of us had already proclaimed the tie as done and dusted before the match even started
acid911
Beat them or not, it's still not the league. sad.gif I don't count it. Maybe as a Coppa match, but even then we were the team that lost and got out. It's clear we lacked intensity, particularly in the first half. That was a sleepwalk.

Pretty much said all in the Serie A thread. Just some details:

No player actually, other then Thiago, Bommel and Ibra is a starter at Milan this season. With the amount of injuries we have this season, this applies. But a few posts back here people were talking of a reserve squad - like it was intentionally played that way. But in fact, Milan played with all the best players they had available bar Abbiati. That's my point.

What does it mean, we beat them in 90 minutes? To be honest, it's nothing! Bravo! We won 90 minutes, but 120 have been played, we lost/tied and played a piss poor extra time.

Techinicall speaking it is still the reserve team, whether it's intentional or forced upon us, we could not play at our best as we were far from our best.

We haven't had one opportunity to face Juve with our best line-up this season. And imo that has a lot of effect on our record against them

Yes the players seemingly gave up in extra time, and as I've said, that's the only thing that disappointed me from the entire mtach, why force extra time when you have no intention of seeing it through?
