You forgot Zambrotta, Zed

Lol,though Zambro wasn't the main problem.

Good night,mates.

I'm devastated. This was one of the most horrible, awful, unwatchable games since I've become a fan. There isn't any doubt anymore, Allegri is a rookie. A clueless, incompetent rookie. His inability to read the game is incredible. How, oh how on earth can you play Pirlo-Gattuso-Seedorf-Dinho, four over 30s, against a fast team like Real Madrid? Did he even watch any of their games? It's absolutely baffling. Boateng-Pirlo-Flamini - this is how we should play from now on. Always.

Regarding the performance of our players, there isn't much to say. I saw Amelia, Zambrotta, Nesta, Pirlo and Robinho try really hard, they have my respect. The rest? Again, unwatchable. Seedorf and Dinho deserve to be castigated, they put shame on our colors. Ibra and Pato just weren't supported at all upfront, even though they could have done a little better.

This was a shameful game, and I hope we (i.e. Allegri) learn something from it.

He saved our a$$ in a couple of occasions. He looked very assured between the posts. I dare say he's good enough to replace Abbiati.

Ratings:

Amelia (6) - a sad debut, but Milan now knows that other then Abbiati there is also a very good goalie in the team.

Zambrotta (6) - solid match with a few good runs. Lacking pace, but still is reliable.

Nesta (6) - made a brilliant interception and tackle typicall for Sandro. Other then that, made also some stupid passing errors.

Bonera (5) - looked like a 40 year old veteran striker re-located as a defender. I hope this was his final.

Antonini
(6) - solid performance by Luca, both down and up the flank. Made only slight positioning errors.

Gattuso (6) - did as much as he could, but this was not the match we needed Rino.

Pirlo (6) - one of the better Milan midfielders, but with constant passing errors. Unlucky with the free-kick.

Seedorf (4.5) - slow and passive, missed one of the few good chances, created nothing. Very bad match.

Ronaldinho
(5) - apart from a few good passes, he did nothing. One of the weakest links.

Pato (4.5) - his runs were totally erratic and useless, and unfortunately costed us the stupid free kick. Totally shut down by both Real and our passive midfield.

Ibrahimovic (5) - did nothing, absolutely zero.

Boateng (5.5) - apart from being fit and able too run more then any other of our midfielders, did nothing good.
Robinho (6) - made some refreshment and looked more motivated then any of our other players.
Inzaghi(.) - didn't do anything/came in too late.

Allegri(4) - stubborn and unadaptable, tactically predictable and with little understanding of game development and reactioning.

Amelia did well, but Abbiati still should be No. 1.

Gee, I didn't write him off, but I just fail to see from where does giant amounts of faith come?
Under these circumstances and Allegri as well, any normal midfielder who has strenght, is under 30 and has still some pace would do good or better then our midfield.

But honestly, what did Boateng do other then that?

Because when players come in and do well, they need to be encouraged. This happens when good performances are rewarded with another game and then another if performances continue. The flip side of this is that bad performances should be rewarded with a spot on the bench, or in some of our squad's case a very cold seat high up in the san siro. Players should never be picked on reputation, which seems to happen far to much in our case mad.gif

So, bottomline, Allegri is the main culprit of this loss?
Panama Devil
Our team has a lot of flaws and they are so clearly seen that anybody can notice them.

A couple of years ago we had no game going on through our flanks. We only created game through the middle with Kaka.

Today we are playing the other way around!!!

Our "fantastic trident" will become useless against big teams. If a team controls our flanking... then what can we do against that? Play thorugh the middle with our lively Seedorf and our excellent shooter called Gattuso?

Just like the Libero disappeared, Gattusos' around the world will start dissapearing. The thing now is that you need players willing o sacrifice themselves. Defensive midfielders that are able to provide a through ball or perform a decent cross.

K.P. Boateng should become a starter so that he gets in game rythm and Gattuso should go to the bench to cheer for the team and coach. He should start next to Pirlo.

The other midfielder should not be Seedorf... forget about Seedorf. He says he wants to play for a lot more years.... well ok but please do it some place else.

The third midfielder should be somebody capable of playing behind the striker so we learn to attack in a diamond formation. Robinho is the only one capable of doing that right now. Although we should find the right guy for the job. Somebody with good shooting ability and speed.

Gattuso and Seedorf and handicapping our team. Flamini, Ambroini.... same story.

We play like if we are a defense specialist team... jajaja Real Madrid defended like pros today and we were'nt able to take the ball from them unless the lost it.

Oh well, at least Blue is having a good time.

I can take a loss to Madrid, but a shutout with so few chances is just embarrassing. It's games like this that make Leo's anger at Silvio increasingly justified.

Has it really been a year already since we last played them? Sheesh.

True, more often than not. sleep.gif And to think it was Leo's first year as coach, while Allegri's been doing this for quite some time. Me not impressed, not impressed at all.
Danny
2 weak defensive moments cost us, but we also didn't make enough use of the few chances we did get.

Something still isn't clicking - the amount of times I counted Dinho deep was ridiculous, and Pato hardly had a sniff of the ball. Ibra did his best to make things happen but he was up against it.

I keep hearing that something is wrong with the way midfield is set out, and it does seem that the middle of the park is on the backfoot far too much and doesn't influence games like it should.

When it comes to tactics and organisation, the blame must always lie at the door of the coach.

You could use the excuse that he's inexperienced and is still learning, and needs time - well, why appoint a coach of that nature rather than a weathered pro who knows the ropes?

I don't blame Allegri for tonight, I'm just not sure he was the right appointment overall.

As always some of the blame should go to the management and their silly fetish for attackers. we needed a new midfielder, a Hernanes, a VdV. and what do they do? bring in 2 attackers! Sorry bud, have to disagree, no player, regardless of position should be "untouchable". I have rated Amelia highly for a few years now, i am delighted we have him, but, we should use him much much more.

This is not an anti Abbiati rant. I have been a fan of his for years, and way back i felt he should have been picked over Seb Rossi. Changes need to be made and i feel Amelia, Boateng, Flamini, Sokratis, Merkel and Strasser need game time and they need it sooner rather than later. Putting players on the team sheet through reputation or through some kind of loyalty clause is killing us. There are other youngsters in the wings also that will play for the shirt and the hope that a good performance will lead to more games, currently and for the past few years our selection policy has been curtailing the progress of "younger" players and needs to change.

Tonight just wound me up really bad. To once again see our so called "Big Game" players, seedorf and ronnie disappear from view. To be fair Ronnie has done more recently but clarence cant even get him self psyched up to play against another of his former teams and the only team that has more European trophies than us. If you cant raise your game to these types of encounters you have no place in the team. I have said it before, i really hope seedorf hangs up his boots and takes on a coaching type role with us where his knowledge will be much more benificial to Milan than his presense on the pitch currently is.

But i'm not really surprised by the result. I was hoping for a draw at best; I knew we wouldn't win and its not because of mourinho. There are alot of other factors that indicate why madrid are a much stronger side than us and over the last few pages you guys have listed them.

Right now the best thing we can do is tough it out and hopefully do something in the winter market.

We need 2 players in order to have a chance in the round of 16.

1) We need a fullback. I don't care if he's right or left. Zamb/antonini can rotate the other side.

2) We need another creative midfielder to fill Ronaldinho's shoes.

Hopefully come summer time we let go of most of the old guard and replace them with youth and some quality players.

also I have to say that i'm personally against purchasing zlatan come summer if we still have the choice. I think fishdoll was right about zlatan; we dont' need him.

Leo may not have done it too well, but Allegri has no excuses. Whatsoever. 1st year versus what 7th year for Allegri?

There was no game plan, not an inch of it. For what it's worth Massimiliano seems to have that mid-table team mentality and couple with the fact that he is afraid to take chances, break the status quo, and that is hurting the club big time. He doesn't get paid millions to experiment, after all. I'm with you on this. smile.gif Amelia did make the best of what he had when called upon, job well done. The only reason I see him taking first place is 1) If Abbiati fails to make it back for a few weeks, or 2) Abbiati's form goes belly-up again, and he starts making mistakes that cost us a match or two (which he did make every now and then, these past few months).

If Abb's back in the next match, then he should start. Mr. Baldie did nothing wrong to lose his spot, and frankly there were a few good saves in the last Serie A match or two. He should get the nod, but Amelia impressed me the world today - we'd probably be staring at a 5-0 defeat if not for some quality stops by him.

True. The thing with him is that he makes changes after matches, rarely have I seen him jolt things up during them. Plus no faith in youth, again, and we are back to square one. Ah, that dreaded word again! dry.gif angry.gif sleep.gif For better or for worse this is about the only thing a fan can do (other than watch the diarrhea dump that is going on with the Milan team. Seriously though you guys ought to either bold, italicize, or underline every time you write the word hope - or any of its derivatives:

Hope this, hope that; hope this doesn't happen, hope that happens; hope we win, hope we save face; hope it's not 4-0 against us, hope it's not 6-0; hope Seedorf doesn't play, hopefully Ronaldinho shows up; hopefully Robinho does not miss a sitter; hopefully Pato - wait for it - finally gets a chance to score a hatrick; let's hope someone last the season, let's hope someone lasts the match; hopefully it is not the dreaded 4-3-3, hopefully it's not Bonera at RB; here's hoping Inzaghi gets a chance, there's hoping that there won't be a 10-point gap between us and inter come the derby; speaking of inter let's hope they drop points, HECK LET'S QUOTE UNQUOTE HOPE ALLEGRI USES HIS BRAIN CELLS AND MAKES THE RIGHT SUBSTITUTIONS.

Bah, it's time to face the facts: Good teams (or at least those managed by a good manager) do not need much hope. They make their own way, have their own game plans, lead their own path, and end their seasons in control. In short make their own destiny, darn it. E-a-r-n, that's earn - not hope for a Scudetto. mad.gif I myself have been writing the word "hope" far too much ever since the start of the season. FACT. And I am short on time, but very much willing to analyze the various posts of different members and get the accurate statistics here on Milanfan forums, but I see everyone using the word much more than it deserves to be: Han, Zed.D, Fillipo pretty much every other member. More so since last season (or the ones before that). It's like everyone from the donkeys in the management room to the coach and most players squad don't want to do anything, just hope for the best, and things to work out in their favor.

Don't get me wrong, nothing against the word (I'm the resident English language police for crying out loud), or the meaning of it. But hope should be kept at the minimum require level. The rest of the bar should be filled with hard work, tactical thinking, effective and man management, attackers helping out with the defense, defenders helping out with the attack, and dare I say it, slotting in the right player at the right moment in time during a match. Most of Allegri's subs have been miles off the mark - wrong player at the wrong time. We are near the top of the table, but no one should forget that a good portion of out tough matches are coming soon. Negatives result in them and the derby, and we could be looking at another 10-point gap from the top perch.

Point I am making is that less talk, more action, bunny boys (Allegri and the squad). wink.gif It is impossible to expect much sanity from B&G but the team and coach should know better. They are the variables, all of them could change if they keep this up. Today's match was one of the worst I've ever seen, not in terms of quality of play from Milan, but the way the team carried themselves on the pitch. Frankly, Lazio/Parma would have done better. At least they would have defended. unsure.gif The Milan players (apart from Amelia) were looking like kids, not a hint of leadership whatsoever, not an inch of gameplan, everyone was just going through the motions. Not a thing called coherence. At all. New coach and all, new faces in the squad, but there should at least be sings of gelling together. And planning each match. Thoughtful planning.

Fact is Milan as a club will have to make a decision to take things into their own hands soon. innocent.gif Hopefully they do!

Football never works like that. if Pirlo's FK had went in, the game would have completely changed its direction. maybe in our favor and more possibly in Madrid's.

Definitely. although we only had 1 good chance through Zee. Pirlo's FK was as good as it gets so no wasted chance there

Inzaghi(.) - didn't do anything/came in too late.

Funny thing is that he actually nearly made a goal for Ibra before Arbeloa made a crucial tackle.

1. Madrid has the best squad in the world
2. A balanced squad, maybe only lacking a proper finisher (Higuain is just average)
3. We do not have a balanced squad
4. Madrid has the best coach in the world - no other coach can motivate a team better than him
5. Milan have made some mistakes and since Carletto left, we do not have a proven, quality and proper coach
6. We'll get 2nd place but we'll get knocked out in early stages
7. Concentrate on Scudetto

8. Hey guys. Howdy?

Agreed on everything with the exception of #6 - Not quite sure how it will go for us yet, either it gets worse, or if we manage to grind it out until Winter and then (cross fingers) we make needed buys for positions such as WB, CM & AM.

Then I will coach milan and change this. Hope shouldn't be a word in our dictionary, we need coaches who have milan in their blood.

For allegri this is just a profession; milan is a team....its his job. Thats all.

We need a coach that gets affected personally when milan lose; we need a coach who is willing to put everything on the line to succeed.

Allegri: 'We weren't arrogant enough'
Massimiliano Allegri insists Milan “should’ve been more arrogant” against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

The Rossoneri were beaten 2-0 at the Bernabeu when Cristiano Ronaldo’s free kick and a deflected Mesut Ozil effort scored in the space of a minute.

“It was a bad day at the office, not taking anything away from a world class side like Real Madrid,” said the Coach.

“But it’s without doubt the game changed after a 90-second spell in which the wall opened and there was a deflection.

“We were a bit sluggish at times, but really started playing after the second goal and had some great chances.

“I don’t think we should be at all depressed after this defeat – quite the opposite. We must above all analyse the good spells.

“We should look at the lack of grit and determination in some of our games, as that was missing again tonight.

“This evening we had the space to play the right way, with angled balls, but we didn’t do that and for the opening 15 minutes gave the ball away cheaply, allowing Real to pin us back.

“After the goals we started playing pretty well, spreading the play and so I think Madrid earned this victory and we also helped them to get it.

“We have great quality and technique, so should’ve been more arrogant and pushed harder at the Bernabeu. Basically we got the initial approach wrong.”

I would be very pissed if I was allegri right now. Arrogancy has nothing to do with it; its all about effort.

When will we get a manager who will have some balls and say either work or sit on the bench.

I think there is a difference between having Milan in your blood and putting it all on the line to succeed.

For instance... Hypothetically speaking - If Mourinho was our coach I won't say he has Milan in his blood, but like we have seen before he will put it all on the line.

I'm not saying that you meant they were the same, just felt I should decipher that there is a difference.
Bluesummers
What I meant was someone who gives a sh*t about milan. Mourinho cares about winning more than he cares for the club so he shouldn't be used as an example.

I want someone like maldini to coach or baresi. Someone who will not come out and say after a loss that we didn't play bad.

I certainely would have never said that.

Mourinho: 'Too fast for Milan'
Jose Mourinho says he has “changed the psychological” state of Real Madrid and they railroaded Milan.

“I always expect a difficult game, but it seems to me that we started with a fantastic approach that was just too fast for Milan. We scored two quickly and could’ve got a third,” he said of the 2-0 win.

“It was a test of intelligence for my team to know how to handle the situation and the tempo.

“These are three valuable points for a very young side against a Milan outfit with immense experience.

“The team is working well and improving. The names may suggest they are not great professionals, but the so-called Galacticos are hard-workers who know they have to put the effort in.

“Right now the psychological aspect is crucial for me and they seem a completely different side to last season.”

The former Inter Coach also had a message for the other side of San Siro.

“It’s not a derby, as I always had a very positive rapport with Milan, their players and directors. There was always great respect.

“Besides, I think Inter are a step ahead. In previous years the Interisti might’ve been happy at seeing Milan lose, but now they are European Champions, so they don’t care. They’re on another level.”

Mourinho had many clashes with the media in Italy and confessed he was glad this post-match talk was unique.

“Do I miss Italy? Well…. I do watch the Serie A games, but as for my work… No interviews, just five minutes of Press conference and I go home. I certainly enjoy that more!”

While I won't be against Maldini or Baresi coaching Milan.
Who are to say that they have the attributed to make them coaches?
That's the hard part of fulfilling both the 'Milan in your blood' and 'putting it all on the line to succeed'

They won't necessarily coincide. (...It's at least very hard to find)

Max may make strange subs, but Carlo was worse. We complained when the likes of KPB and Robinho were bought on.. Carlo wouldn've just gone even more defensive in a damage limitation exercise!

We were clueless out there, kaddus to Madrid.

Do people still think Ronaldinho adds something special to this team?

He's completely finished, IMO. Awful.

Also can't believe Allegri is still starting Rino-Seedorg-Pirlo. That was suicide against Madrid's midfield.
