Talk about an out-dated forum!
They really should think about making an upgrade from that v1 BS.

Hey, mike theres an idea, maybe you can get hired and make a few extra bucks if you agree to make a site for them, provided you don't make any intelligent football remarks; they may get all moody and crude. laugh.gif

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Dec 12 2008, 10:56 PM) *
Funny that, very few seem to rate Rio and JT, good to see them actually getting praise for a change!

I think it depends who plays up front for us. Mellberg never had problems with less quick guys or tall guys, so I can't see Pippo or Sheva doing him much damage. The people he struggled with are the small quick ones like Defoe or Rooney when he was in the EPL. So Pato is the best choice to try and beat Mellberg, in my opinion.

But like you said, I think we need to worry about keeping goals out more than we do scoring, we really are not having a good time of it at CB. I think we'll play Maldini and Kaladze in the middle. I don't mind Kaladze in the big games because he does play well.. as long as he doesn't make a big mistake.

I stick by my 3-2 Juve prediction, I just can't see us keeping them out and if we're not playing well going forward, it may be very one-sided. sad.gif

I think 2 upfront in neccissery for this game, Chiellini alone would deal with our 1 striker. That's why I want ti see a Pato Sheva pairing upfront and Pippo coming in for Sheva in the second half if needed. If we play the xmas tree we'll get easily crowded out by their much more physically superior midfield. But like usual we'll see the xmas tree on Sunday, if we happen to win by some lucky goal I'll celebrate it but if we lose it will be expected.

QUOTE (Tennie @ Dec 12 2008, 11:25 PM) *
I'd prefer to see Pippo play some part of the game, contrary to most, because he has a knack of scoring against the Gobbi. Maybe start Pato and bring Pippo on partway through the second.

This is the lineup I'd like to see:
Abbiati
Zambrotta Kaladze Maldini Jankulovski
Flamini Pirlo Ambrosini
Ronaldinho Seedorf
Pato/Pippo

As for the Gobbi, I'm wondering how much fatigue may be an issue. Grygera, Molinaro, Nedved all played the full 90 of their CL game. Del Piero and Amauri played significant chunks. (Chiellini was rested). Sissoko didn't train today due to a bad cold. I expect all these guys to start - and am frankly surprised more of them weren't fully rested on Wednesday.

I find it strange that Ranieri bothered to rest Chiellini, yes he's important but he's still young and can take 2 games a week, but didn't rest his old players like DP, Nedved, atc

As for Pippo, I personally don't want to see him as a loan striker against Chiellini, it would be a waste to just have Pippo up there.

Kaka books Juve date Saturday 13 December, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kaka is in doubt for tomorrow night’s showdown with Juventus, but insists he’ll not only be there, “I want to decide the match.”

The Milan star skipped yesterday’s training session due to a muscular problem and will require a late fitness test.

“I will do everything I can to be there,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “In recent games I had been in great shape physically and hope to be the same way against Juve.”

The Brazilian was in the news over the last 10 days for complaining about his new deeper role to accommodate Ronaldinho.

“I confirm I have to improve my rapport on the field with Ronaldinho, as when people said I wasn’t sharp enough in the box, that was down to certain tactical issues.

“However, I want to reaffirm that I have no problems with Ronaldinho, nor will I have trouble adapting. I like challenges and finding myself more in tune with him on the pitch is another challenge I wish to win.”

Some critics called Kaka egotistical for making those statements last week, but he assures it is all for the good of Milan.

“I’m used to that attitude now. If you shoot then that was a mistake, if you pass it that was an error too. I don’t pay attention to the critics any more.

“All I am interested in is helping the team and being decisive in any way possible, even if that means going in goal and saving a penalty!”

Sunday’s showdown will decide who out of Juventus and Milan will give chase to runaway leaders Inter before the Christmas break.

“What do Inter have more than Milan? Six points.”

Abbiati; Zambrotta, Maldini, Kaladze, Jankulovski; Ambrosini, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kakà, Ronaldinho; Pato.

Flamini out, Seedorf in.

Mediaset are also reporting that Camoranesi wasn't called up for the game.

Well it doesn't come from stats zd ... it comes from me knowing the capabilities Milan has upfront, and thus not being worried about the Juve defense ... Hence the notion i dont find the Juve defense any stronger than most Serie A teams

I know what you say. still I think we haven't been THAT good up front yet... though I hope this finally changes on Sunday.
Tennie
Ha. Well, Mediaset's wrong, according to Carletto.

Highlights from the prematch press conference:
*Pirlo and Ambro are doing well
*Seedorf and Ronaldinho are in optimal condition
*Whether Kaka plays or not will be a gameday decision
*Inzaghi is doing well and has recovered from his injury
*Flamini is the only definite start

Ancelotti has Kaka doubts Saturday 13 December, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carlo Ancelotti admits he isn’t sure whether Kaka will be able to face Juventus tomorrow evening, but he’s focusing on “quality, not quantity.”

The Brazilian skipped training yesterday due to an upper thigh problem and remains a doubt for this Scudetto showdown.

“We are not optimistic nor pessimistic about his condition. He will travel with the squad and then we will see what the situation is on Sunday,” explained the Coach.

“[Andrea] Pirlo and [Massimo] Ambrosini are fine, while [Clarence] Seedorf and Ronaldinho are in excellent condition. [Pippo] Inzaghi also trained well and showed he has recovered.

“Right now the only player certain of a place in the starting XI is Mathieu Flamini. He is a new player who is settling in and has done well, but I maintain he can do better.”

Flamini’s presence is guaranteed as a replacement for Gennaro Gattuso, who will be out for up to six months after damaging knee ligaments.

“Rino’s absence could represent an extra motivation for us to do better tomorrow and dedicate the result to him. Individuals matter only to a certain degree, though, as the team play won’t change.”

Ancelotti is looking forward to Sunday night’s clash in Turin and won’t even try to beat Juve at their own game.

“It feels great to feel such excitement before a big game and I am experiencing it the same way I did before the derby with Inter.

“This match is important in terms of confidence and in particular comes at a crucial stage of the season. We haven’t been going through the best form, but we know we are a team who can rise to the big occasion.

“Juve were built as a solid squad with some quality added in, so we cannot take them on in terms of aggression. We need to focus on our quality, keep possession and play the ball to feet.”

Ancelotti has sat on the Bianconeri bench and was jeered last time he returned as an opponent.

“Personally, Juventus are for me among the biggest rivals, even back when I was playing for Roma.

“Nowadays they play with the highest defence in Italian football, despite the change in the offside rules. This method allows them to be very solid, aggressive and keep constant pressure on opponents.

“Claudio Ranieri is an excellent Coach who has proved his quality wherever he has worked. He may not have won much silverware, but for that talent is not sufficient, you need the right instruments too.”

The Milan boss confirmed that Thiago Silva will be in Milan over the weekend to put pen to paper on a contract, beating competition from Inter.

“He is a great central defender who was voted Brazilian player of the year last term. Right now he is the best player around.

“Milan have made an excellent investment for the future. In the meantime he will train with the squad and can play in friendly games.”

Due to the limits on non-EU players, Milan will not be able to field Thiago Silva until next season.

What does he mean by Pirlo and Ambro are doing well, Seedorf and Dinho are in optimal condition and that Pippo has recovered? Is he saying that they will be fit for the game or what?
han2503
btw, is Thiago Silva confirmed?

Still if we are definately signing him it's still a problem since he can't play until next season and we needed a new CB about 2 months ago...
Tennie
My reading of the comments about various players is that we're likely to see them at some point during the game. Only questions are Kaka (gameday decision) and Pippo (mentioned in terms of recovering from injury).

I think Galliani said thiago silva was coming to Milan on Monday for a medical so yeah, sounds mostly official.
Tennie
And here are the call ups:

Abbiati, Dida, Kalac
Antonini, Favalli, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Maldini, Senderos, Zambrotta
Ambrosini, Cardacio, Flamini, Emerson, Pirlo
Inzaghi, Kakà, Pato, Seedorf, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho, Viudez.

Zed.D
If we win, we'll be in the 2nd place.

If we lose, we'll be in the 4th place... behind Inter, Juve and Napoli (they have a better goal difference than us!...)

What a tricky game!

Ancelotti Puts Faith In Flamini
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti commented on the inclusion of Mathieu Flamini for tomorrow’s crunch Serie A showdown.

Juventus host the Rossoneri tomorrow night in one of the most anticipated matches of the season, pitting Inter Milan’s main rivals against each other.

Both sides sit six points behind champions and runaway Serie A leaders Inter Milan, who face the seemingly straight-forward task of a home match against rock-bottom Chievo.

If Jose Mourinho's star-studded team win that match, a draw or defeat for either Milan or Juve would leave them eight or nine points off the leaders.

Latest injury news revealed that Milan playmaker Kaka failed to take part in full training while Gennaro Gattuso’s absence will certainly be felt in the coming months.

Ancelotti commented on the fact that Mathieu Flamini may be the linchpin in midfield for tomorrow’s game. “It is an important game in an important moment. Juventus have been built to be compact and solid. In this contest it is necessary to bring in players of an absolute level.

“We must not create an aggressive game, but we need to try and keep possession of the ball to display our quality.”

Continuing on the subject of Gattuso’s replacement in the lineup, the coach said, “Flamini is a new player that has to get used to things. Up until now he has done well, but I believe that he can do even better.”

Ronaldinho: Juventus Don’t Scare Me
Dinho is in buoyant mood ahead of the big match with the Bianconeri and believes the Diavoli can do the double this term.

Milan and Juventus will come face-to-face in Sunday night’s Posticipo at the Stadio Olimpico and the losers might have to wave goodbye to their Scudetto ambitions.

“I am really focused, but not worried,” Ronaldinho told the Corriere dello Sport. “I always think positive and I don’t see why I should be afraid of Juve or any other side.”

The Rossoneri will be without the injured Gennaro Gattuso, while the Bianconeri will boast the powerful Mohamed Sissoko in the middle of the park.

“They are all great champions, but Sissoko has something more than his teammates,” mused the Brazilian ace.

“He is really strong in midfield, but can also give his contribution in the final third of the pitch.”

Inter have a commanding lead in the standings, but the former Ballon d’Or winner is confident they can make up for lost ground.

“Are they running away? Where?,” he joked. “It is too early to make predictions at this point. I am sure we can lift both the Scudetto and the UEFA Cup this season: it would be a wonderful double.

“I hope to win lots of trophies with Milan and share our triumphs with our great supporters.”

Berlusconi Reveals Plan To Beat Juventus
The Rossoneri chief has laid down the law and he has a plan to beat Juve...

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi believes the key to beating Juventus is to keep hold of the ball and fight until the final whistle.

The Rossoneri clash with Juventus on Sunday and both teams will be fighting to close the gap on league leaders Inter.

Milan's problem this term has been the slackness towards the end of games as displayed against Lecce when they slipped up.

Berlusconi believes that if they can eradicate their final minute demons, then his side will emerge from Turin with maximum points.

"We have been affected by the injuries to Alessandro Nesta and Gennaro Gattuso but we also have our own faults as we cannot managed the final fews minutes of a game," Berlusconi told Datasport.

"When we are 1-0 up, we cannot allow a team to keep hold of the ball. We need to continue playing like before.

"When we played Lecce, we gave the ball away too many times and we simply cannot do this against Juventus."

The club's problems are never ending as Kaka is doubtful for the game against the Old Lady after he missed training on Sunday afternoon.

Breaking News: Camoranesi Out Of Milan Showdown
The Argentine midfielder has not been included in the squad to face Milan tomorrow night...

Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi will not play against Milan after his name was scribbled off the squad sheet by Claudio Ranieri on Saturday.

The Italian has been struggling to get back to full fit-ness following his recent shoulder problem.

Coach Claudio Ranieri confirmed the news to Sky Sport Italia when he said: "Camoranesi hasn't made it, he still feels pain and he is not ready."

It's not the news Bianconeri fans wanted to hear but they can rely on Momo Sissoko.

The big Mali international was doubtful after being struck down by flu, but he has shaken that off and will be available.

Here is the list of players Ranieri has chosen to face the Rossoneri.

Chiellini, Mellberg, Zanetti, Salihamidzic, Amauri, Iaquinta, Del Piero, Nedved, Chimenti, Manninger, Marchisio, Giovinco, Grygera, Sissoko, Ekdal, Molinaro, De Ceglie, Marchionni, Ariaudo, Pinsoglio.

The Old Lady is six points behind Inter in the Scudetto race and a loss could signal the end of the title this term.
