1. Torres's goal scoring record is better than many strikers we have been linked with. He also proved how talented he is in the WC. He has scored 64 in 140 games and he has done that playing for Atletico as the supporting striker! He is sheer talent and he will make it where ever he goes. I have no doubt.

2. Ronaldinho would be great, but he is not the answer to all our problems. Not to mention he is utterly expensive and I doubt we will buy 2 world class strikers and defenders in the same year. Unless Milan is willing to spend about 150 million Euros in one year! Even if want to buy R10 for next year, we should have bought a defender and a striker so we can actually win something this year and that would mean more money. Plus a dramatic overhaul wouldn't be such a good idea as it takes away the unity of the squad.

I know that there will be side effects to it but a complete overhaul especially of our defence will be inevitable. At least 2 world class defenders will have to come in, either a RB or a LB (depending on wether we buy Oddo or not) and a CB, not to mention that we will have to buy some subs.

And about the financial aspect of it, Silvio has already said that if he where to get the chance in buying Ronaldinho he would be ready to make any financial sacrifices in order to get him.

Just something I felt that should be added...about Oddo...I really don`t understand people who give him so much praise. I watched the Italy match tonight - Oddo made numerous crosses, not a single reached his target. They were either to strong or simply unprecise (deflected by the first defending player). You say his attacking skills are no that good...but I did not see any defensive skills either. I mean, come on, against some Lithuanian players he acted a couple of times very week, and Cannavaro had to deal with the problem. I know, not everything should be based on one match only, but I saw him many times earlier and also wasn`t that impressed. I cannot lose that feeling that he is very overrated here...some people seem not to be happy even with Ronaldinho, but all embrace Oddo at once. But I really don`t see him as that good...

What are you talking about? Oddo had a good game tonight, Grosso however was really bad, especially in defence.

He's not that good but we'll need Oddo's defence more this year than Cafu's attacking skills I fear. He's not overrated; People want him because we have a problem at RB while we can do amazingly well without Ronaldinho.I think it is simple.

And you're totally right, after the summer ended I can't tell you how many times I've heard how lucky Inter are because they got him, including in here. And when I hear it I just have to laugh, he didn't even have that much of a good world cup, he only did 3 things that could be called useful and those where winning the penalty against the Aussies, the goal against the Germans and scoring the penalty, other then that he wasn't good going forward and he wasn't good in defence, we just didn't conceede because of errors from his side because Cannavaro seemed to be in super human mode. Imo Zambrotta should have played on the left and Oddo on the right in that world cup, the Palermo boys (especially Zaccardo) should not have been called up.

Oddo is good defensively, I saw the game tonight, he made a lot of good interceptions, and he and Rino where working well together and he made some good crosses.

btw did you see Cassano tonight, he was simply amazing. I'm beginning to think that we should have tried for him instead of Ronaldo when we where negotiating with Real. He seems like he has lost the weight and you can't deny how talented he is.

Exactly. Lippi must have either been some kind of Palermo fan when he was young or he is really good friends with the Palermo president. Those are the only reasons I can think of, why he would choose Zaccardo over Oddo.

And you're right about the problem that we have at RB, Cafu' is tecnically our ONLY RB and he is 36 years old. At LB we have serginho who I think is still very useful for us, (even if dst doesn't seem to think so) we have Janku, Favalli (if there is some kind of major emergency he is good, only if the emergency is major) and Maldini can still play there if needed.

Oh and Oddo is the same age as the English student, sure he isn't that young anymore but for a defender I say he is still at a good age.

Oddo made some pinpoint crosses , especially in the end of the first half. And come on he only hit the ball really hard once. But I agree with you in the last few minutes he was working in a lot of space and didn't really do anything, I guess he got a bit tired because he was the only one making the runs and trying to cross, because on the left side nothing was happening, so he had to take all the attacking responsability, and he is not that much attack-minded he is more defensive.

Yes I know he played only once, still, he was in that team and at least practiced with them a lot, so we cannot say that the players/defenders today were strange to him...Also it seems to me Lippi had not much faith in Oddo. So he used Zaccardo, but soon recognized his qualities and awarded him with a prime bench seat.

Still, for the RB we should find someone more suitable...

Well DP wasn't that much of a big surprise that he was ther, he was always Lippi's favourite, and I did think he deserved it a bit, he had a good season at Juve, even if he almost never played, and from the friendlies he had played he had proved that he could still be useful to the team. The big joke I think was Iaquinta, how many goals did he score last season? And they where all from penalties. And Lippi always played him OVER PIPPO, that should be reason enough to question his ways



Yeah that is what I was saying a few days ago, those 2 can't play with eachother, I think the best solution would be to play Bonera when playing Serginho and Janku when playing Cafu', we look at the team we are going to play against and see where their week spot is, if it's their left side we use Cafu, if it's their right sied we use Serginho. Simple as that. Like for example in bayern game, it was so obvious how week their right side was, Serginho was tearing threw them and making a lot of dangerous crosses which resulted in 2 goals.

Far too harsh IMO. I think the that Gila felt the pressure of playing for a big club last season and that is why he seemed tense. He still scored 17 though which is very good, in fact his goal tally in the Serie A is phenomenal and of the top of my head I can't think of a striker with a better strike ratio over three seasons than Gila. Hopefully, after playing in the WC, he will show us this season that he is ready to lead our attack
