QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Sep 2 2006, 09:02 PM)
Just something I felt that should be added...about Oddo...I really don`t understand people who give him so much praise. I watched the Italy match tonight - Oddo made numerous crosses, not a single reached his target. They were either to strong or simply unprecise (deflected by the first defending player). You say his attacking skills are no that good...but I did not see any defensive skills either. I mean, come on, against some Lithuanian players he acted a couple of times very week, and Cannavaro had to deal with the problem. I know, not everything should be based on one match only, but I saw him many times earlier and also wasn`t that impressed. I cannot lose that feeling that he is very overrated here...some people seem not to be happy even with Ronaldinho, but all embrace Oddo at once. But I really don`t see him as that good... What are you talking about? Oddo had a good game tonight, Grosso however was really bad, especially in defence.

He's not that good but we'll need Oddo's defence more this year than Cafu's attacking skills I fear. He's not overrated; People want him because we have a problem at RB while we can do amazingly well without Ronaldinho.I think it is simple.
Also Oddo has rarely played a game with those teammates he had tonight ... anyway he's not anything special but we needed him and he could come for a Berlusconi breakfast if you get what I mean ... apparently he wasn't willing to pay even that!!!!

I hope at least he does so last year - with any good RB - which I doubt considering what he'll have to pay to bring Gaucho over. I fear not even Costacurta and Maldini will be replaced ... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Oddo is much worse a player than Oddo; he just had a great WC. He never had played and he never will play half as good as he played this summer!!!

Cannavaro-Barzagli-Grosso? But that was the basic defense of the WC...no, no that can`t be his excuse. Yes, the first half he was fair,...the second well..awfull in my opinion. I know we have a RB problem, but don`t we have a LB problem too? Cause Serginho and Maldini, bah...Fav, they all just have one season left. Kaladze I never rated that high to be a starter. I get all that RB concernes but hey, there must be someone better on the RB position for us...it`s not that he is the only option...nah, I don`t know, mabe I simply lack of imagination, but I can`t see Massimo wear our colours... I think you meant Grosso there (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

And you're totally right, after the summer ended I can't tell you how many times I've heard how lucky Inter are because they got him, including in here. And when I hear it I just have to laugh, he didn't even have that much of a good world cup, he only did 3 things that could be called useful and those where winning the penalty against the Aussies, the goal against the Germans and scoring the penalty, other then that he wasn't good going forward and he wasn't good in defence, we just didn't conceede because of errors from his side because Cannavaro seemed to be in super human mode. Imo Zambrotta should have played on the left and Oddo on the right in that world cup, the Palermo boys (especially Zaccardo) should not have been called up.

Oddo is good defensively, I saw the game tonight, he made a lot of good interceptions, and he and Rino where working well together and he made some good crosses.

btw did you see Cassano tonight, he was simply amazing. I'm beginning to think that we should have tried for him instead of Ronaldo when we where negotiating with Real. He seems like he has lost the weight and you can't deny how talented he is.

Oh and I can't get over how unlucky Gila is. MAN!!! When he came on he had that header cleared off the line and I thought WOW, what's wrong with this guy?

but Oddo didn't play at the WC ... where Zaccardo did for God's sake!!!! also ... we have a bigger RB problem IMO cause Cafu can't play a decent full 90!!! In addition ... Serginho is never gonna leave the field as long as Berlusconi's here ... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Exactly. Lippi must have either been some kind of Palermo fan when he was young or he is really good friends with the Palermo president. Those are the only reasons I can think of, why he would choose Zaccardo over Oddo.

And you're right about the problem that we have at RB, Cafu' is tecnically our ONLY RB and he is 36 years old. At LB we have serginho who I think is still very useful for us, (even if dst doesn't seem to think so) we have Janku, Favalli (if there is some kind of major emergency he is good, only if the emergency is major) and Maldini can still play there if needed.

Oh and Oddo is the same age as the English student, sure he isn't that young anymore but for a defender I say he is still at a good age.

Yeah when I wrote that, that's what I was thinking about, but I think that he would be worth the money (at least more then Ronaldo).

Plus Milan Lab would get him into much better shape much faster

Gilardino is really something. And that Pippo miss,... I mean Gila practicly tackled Pippo of the shot,...he is unbelivable.

Cassano was great, but his talent and skill never was questionable. Rather his character and behaviour. Unacceptable is the word... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

But hey, how can you say Oddo made some good crosses? In the second half he had so much free space, but didn`t do anything at all. He just punched that ball without even looking or thinking. But agree Grosso was also not good. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

He's too young now .. He might be under the influence over how BIG his father is at Milan and is showing promise as for the Maldini legacy in Milan. But still, he's too young, for all we know he might turn out to be a hockey player (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Still, I feel it's still early, cz by that time, I don't think Berlusconi would still be incharge .. *Damn the ideas that go through my head are crazy* .. We might get inbeded into Corporate American (no offence, but) and turn out like Man U with Glazer. That would be a nightmare !!! (taking into concideration that the #3 shirt will be given away sooner, rather than l8r for marketing reasons..)

Well Lippi has his doggedness like all of us I think ... Del Piero played most of the matches ... what a joke; I wouldn't have picked him up in the first place!!!

On the Serginho issue; I'm not saying he is not useful to us. All I'm saying is that we can't field both Silvio's boy and Cafu at the same time no more. It has to be one of them and you know Serginho won't be benched (and rightfully between the two - Oh Janku's gonna have another miserable year).

Oh and Oddo ... I meant he's young for Milan (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
