Massimo Oddo is set to leave Lazio despite being contracted until 2008, with Milan his preferred destination.

Reports are claiming that the world champion had a heated argument with President Claudio Lotito after the Coppa Italia match lost against Messina on Sunday.

Oddo has made no secret of his desire to leave the capital and has been courted by Milan since last spring, but Lotito insists that no firm offer has been presented by the Rossoneri.

The 29-year-old, on international duty with the Azzurri at Coverciano, is preferring to not pass comment on his situation.

“I am not going to speak about the summer market until August 31,” he stated. “However, you all know that the best signings are finalised at the end…”

The main obstacle to the defender’s transfer now seems to be an economic one for the San Siro side.

Milan, still trying to sort out a fee with Betis over Ricardo Oliveira, will have to meet Lotito’s £6m asking price.

The Rossoneri, however, are allegedly willing to include 23-year-old winger Pasquale Foggia in the swoop.

Coach Delio Rossi is in desperate need of a replacement for the injured Valon Behrami, who will not be available until November, and has already approved the operation.

Biancocelesti chief Lotito could accept a fee of almost £3m for the right-back if Foggia arrived on loan as part of the deal.

Oddo has also been courted by Liverpool, Monaco and Real Mallorca, whose bids were all rejected, and is liked by Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti given his offensive nature.

guys,
what we need is a good RB,his main duty being a defender and a good one...moreover we must never forget that Milan defenders are always the best....always...so why do we need cicinho when we know that his defending skills are pathetic???we all know that Oddo is an excellent defender who has the ability to attack when needed...this cicinho dude forgets that he is a defender all the time...we need someone responsible and Oddo fits in real fine....imagine Oddo to be with Cafu,Nesta and Maldini?what a defense is that?ok i agree age is a problem but ability wise...its an awesome defense....we have our midfield and forwards/strikers to attack so let the defenders do their job.so we need Oddo...moreover Oddo is Milan by heart and we need guys like him who loves to be a Milan player and who always sez so!!!

Its a gamble with the defense. They still have some of the biggest names in football, but most are injury prone.

We can't afford another Maldini injury. I'm surprised that they haven't looked to the future with their defense and rely on the same squad that won the CL several years ago.

Ancelotti is so hestitant in trying something new. He rely's on the same formula each season. Its good but hasn't yielded any major trophies in some time.

Problem is we have 10 defenders right now? We have a whole bench cluttered with these guys and we have a tendency in collecting defenders that are past their prime. I can understand with Maldini and Cafu, but not really for the rest of them.

Don't get me wrong Billy is a legend and did helped us last year when our defense was in tatters. But he should have retired this season.

I still like Serginho. He is a good attacking defender. I think Cincinho could do better.

No way...Cicinho is not even near Serginho. Yes, Serginho can be sometimes unreliable, but he makes his defending job still way better then Cic, also his flanks are more deadlier...no, no, I would pass on Cicinho. In this case, Oddo is better...

Exactly, we should have been more focused on rebuilding the defense rather than the search for sheva #2. If we had signed gallas and oddo combined with nesta and kaladze, you'd bank that defence to hold out against most.

Hours are ticking away.. I'm in australia. So whats the official hours remaining for the transfer window..

Haha translaters please.. tongue.gif

This is ridiculous. I can't believe the dealine is tomorrow, and we have nothing. I idea of Cafu and Simic doing RB is a real weak link. Cafu cna't manage the season and is well past his best, Simic has never been that good. A RB is required, and though I'd have preferred Sagnol or Zambrotta, it seems we only have a chance of Oddo. However, I am in complete agreement about Cicinho. He is merely a right winger who Real Madrid use as a RB so they can have 2 people hurtling down the wings. Yes hes fast and crosses well etc, and hed prob be a great RWF or RMF, but for the team synomomous with stonewall defences, I don't think so.

Says Lazio wanted 7 M for Oddo, but Milan changed the offer to add Foggia in the deal .. Foggia might go for loan w/ 3-4 M on top of him for Oddo.

Channel4 says Milan offer Foggia on loan and 2m pounds for co-ownership of Oddo .... absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!

they do the right thing by loaning Foggia out cause there's no way both him and Yoann will be able to be tested enough in a single season but can't they just give Lolito a good 4m and get Oddo out of there???

what the f@ck is this .... this is humiliating we're bargaining for such prices???? Get the f@ck ... I'm fed up at last ... I think this is utterly disgusting for a club like Milan!!!!

Maybe they are counting Oddo as a short-time solution,...it would be possible that they are still counting with Gallas, so they (our board) need Oddo just for that "brief" period. That would be fine to me cause Gallas is way better then Oddo.. cool.gif

Not saving up .. Milan is always concidered the favourites wether we play Bayern, Real, Man U, etc ... And to be a favourite when playing these teams means something .. And who was behind all this; Silvio Berlusconi, he took the team from flat out broke to a team that always put out a strong side.

With that said, Berlusconi has the power to convince ANY player to sign for him, not Braida not Galliani, but him and ONLY him. Can you name me any other club that Ronaldinho would go to ? Stay with Barca ?! For what ?! This is the second time they have raised the CL in their history and never had a real chance with the league, (excluding the season that they got the league) .. Barca just made it into the first seed spot in the UEFA ranking .. Which isnt that impressive for a player like Ronaldinho. I personally thought he would go to Real Madrid this summer, but wasn't surprised that Milan would want to haul him in, why not we got as much international cups as Real Madrid; but are, realistically speaked, sporting wise are far better than them ! ..

After all, what is Berlusconi's use anyway if he cant be convincing enough to bring in the BIG boys down to Milanello ?!

Milan can sign Ronaldinho, Buffon, Ronaldo, Oliveira and Sobis, Oddo, Diarra, Drogba, Crespo, Ibrahimovic, Gallas ... ALL in a snap of a finger.

Prove me wrong ? Cuz the history of Berlusconi since 1986 with this club has convinced me that they are up for it. With that said, everything happens for a reason, and Milan better have a damn good one wink.gif

Silvio Berlusconi, and you can mark my words on this, will give the fans something worthwhile to open up the champaine and go all out crazy by the time he's done with the market king.gif

Tsk tsk .. I never thought I'd hear such a thing from you ..

Answer me this, why is Milan a world famous club ?! Why is it the most respected club in Brazil ?! Why haven't a peep come out of Barca laughing off the links between the man himself and Ronaldinho ?! Why wait till the very last day (as happened last season w/ Gila) .. ?!

Well .. So ? What's wrong with that ? .. Zidane moved from Juve to Madrid .. Ronaldo from Inter to Madrid .. And they all stated that they'll play on for their respected clubs, well the latter not that respected, for years to come. Am I missing Shevchenko who just recently stated he was gonna stay for yrs to come ?
Or Luis Figo from Barcalona to Madrid ?!

This happens in football .. You just have to weight it out bro, Milan has the upper-hand. Ronaldinho needs a new challenge, that's what these stars do .. Their aim is the best clubs in Europe. Although Barca is good, achievment wise, they are no match for Milan .. Which is why I am so convinced Ronaldinho will take a step up the ladder and play at an even better club AC Milan.

I had exactly the same thought as u .. say two days ago, but suddenly I'm convinced that it is the only sain way that Milan can justify their dealings in the market

Torres I don't know, he just doesn't strike me as someone that could make it in serie A, his scoring record isn't even that impressive and he is playing in SPAIN not Italy. Oliveira and Gallas sure we need them but would you seriously reject Ronnie if he was offered to you? i think our management know that next season practically the whole team will need a total overhaul (except for the midfield) Our defence will be considerably thinned out with all the retireing players, Boriello will definately not be here for long neither will amoroso. I think they are trying to save up for next year so they can rebuild the team, not fron the ground up, but make it young and fresh again.

And Ronnie fits in Silvio's plans, infact I think that he will be the thing at which Silvio's plans will revolve around, you'lle see that by the 07/08 season there will be a new young and fresh Milan
