I never said you lose the right to criticize players because of your dedication to our old guard. I just think that when you say we should keep Seedorf or Ambro for anther year, or Zambrotta is still reliable etc. and then call Emanuelson, who's been having a darn good season, shite, it doesn't really make you look cool, y'know.

1) I didn't call him shite, though, didn't I? I said playing him regularly as a AM is a travesty, and I stand by my initial post; this has nothing to do with contract extensions.

2) Is the point here to look cool? Don't need cool, or else I'd hit easy targets much earlier on.

3) Did I say Ambro and Seedorf should stay and be starters? Did I say we should ban Emanuleson? NO! Dammit, I only want us to extend their contracts if the agree play for a reduced wage a small role. I think keeping Seedorf as 3rd choice even now is better then signing players like Ederson. Judging from this season, we'll need a big team, and my logic is either sign classy players to replace the veterans, or keep the veterans and work on signing a classy player for the future. Replacing Seedorf and Ambrosini with Muntari and Ederson isn't the solution to me.

1) Yet, he's been useful to our cause. We've had a myriad of injuries this season, Boateng has been unavailable for a long time. It's not like Allegri has had many choices to play in the AM position.

2) I could have easily said "it makes you look like a *******" instead, but I didn't want to sound offensive. Obviously either way is wrong with you, because you have to take everything so literally. dry.gif

3) I honestly see nothing wrong with Montolivo, Muntari, Ederson etc. replacing a bunch of worn-out oldies that have NOTHING to give anymore. If nothing, they would strengthen out squad even more, considering they'd be subs to Aquilani, Nocerino, Boateng etc.

Chill out? I've been told not to criticize one player because the lack of criticism for veteran players. I find that somehow very offensive and insulting, it reduces my comments to a mere point.

I was saying chill out in regard to the general tone of the conversation. There is no need. Everyone seems to be on edge on here for no good reason

Pal, if you'd said such a thing, you'd be in serious trouble, so hurrray for not taking the personal insult way.

Yet, I do understand his position. Never said something different. But as I said, I just fear Emanuleson is stuck as AM in Allegri's mind.

Various reports (TMW, Mediaset) suggest that we'll try to convert Emanuelson as a LB. Allegri will work on his defensive skills during the summer preparation.
Zed.D
I don't know if he'll become a good defender, but I definitely prefer him to Antonini when going forward. he can cross decently, and while he may not be Roberto Carlos with his shots, he's still far better than Luca who can't take shots on target at all.

I personally like that option, he's got a hell of a cross on him, and if we're playing Mesbah at LB, than surely Urby is a better option on any given day.
Fillipo Simone
We should get rid of Mesbah as soon as possible. I think Taiwo is better.
Zed.D
Mesbah needs to GTFO immediately. I'm sure he's a good person, but he's a poor, poor footballer. not even good enough to be our 3rd choice LB.

Urby, De Sciglio, Antonini.

Not great but should do the trick for now.

Well, De Sciglio is actually a RB. He's gonna be Abate's sub, and I'm more than fine with that. Yes, Allegri played him as LB in the derby, but it was an emergency call, seeing how Antonini, Zambrotta, Mesbah and Emanuelson were not available, and Bonera got injured during the game.

As for Urby, we've never really given him the chance to play as LB from the start for a few consecutive games. But I really like the idea of him playing there, especially if he can improve his defensive phase during the summer prep.
Fillipo Simone
Yeah, let's prepare him with the special defensive work during summer, just like we did with Taiwo tongue.gif

They all suck. We need a normal LB who can put a few decent performances. I don't care who, just bring someone decent and get rid of Mesbah. Not sure we should keep Taiwo as well.
kurtsimonw
Mesbah and Taiwo are both awful and need to go.

That would be the best solution. If QPR decide to keep Taiwo on a permanent basis, how much are they willing spend for him? If we manage to get €7-8 million from them, we could add an extra €2-3 million and sign a proper, quality LB. Balzaretti, Armero and Cissokho should be available for around that price.

Oops, forgot he was a RB. I think that's because I have this mental image of him playing damn well in the derby in the left side. and he played his best game there though he didn't attack much. but given that he's right footed it's better to work on him as a RB.

I'm sick of this 4-3-1-2 crap. Enough of it. Play both Abate and De Sci....on the right.

Next season I want us to develop wingplay. Most other teams in Europe have at least heard of it.

Like, what kind of formation? 4-2-3-1? Ibra hates playing as lone striker (read his autobiography), and we really don't have offensive wingers. 4-3-1-2 is fine with me. We just need to find the right actors.
Jack Sparrow
4-4-2 ,4-4-1-1, 4-2-4, 4-3-2-1...there are plenty of options.

We need flexibility. It has been Juve's biggest difference maker. Also meant they could rest players which may have helped their injury situation as well.

Flexibility, yes, but only in case of emergency. We shouldn't stray away from the 4-3-1-2, we have the right players for it. However, when the situations calls for it, we could also play 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. There have been plenty of occasions this season when I complained about Allegri's inability to switch formation. His obsession of playing Emanuelson as AM when Boateng was injured, for example. Why not play 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 for Christ's sake!
Jack Sparrow
Exactly. One of the reasons we perform better in the second half at times is precisely because every opponent and their grandmother knows how we start and will stay during a match.
X-Offender
Did anyone know he's only played a total of 67 minutes with Fulham so far? Very poor.
Bluesummers
wow thats shocking!
X-Offender
And Allegri used to start him as AM or even forward. He can't even cut it at Fulham! laugh.gif

Urby Emanuelson says he would like to primarily be used as a left-back by Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri this season.

The Dutchman can be fielded in a variety of midfield roles, but he has outlined that he does have a preference.

“I feel ready to play in whatever position will most benefit the team and the Coach,” Emanuelson commented from the Diavolo’s American training base.

“It is true that I am a very versatile player, but I have to say that my favoured role is as a left-back.”

The 27-year-old is back at Milan after spending the second half of last season on loan with Premiership side Fulham.

“We won’t be just targeting a top three finish in Serie A this term,” added the January 2011 signing from Ajax.

“We want to end the campaign as champions of Italy!”

Translation "i'm perfectly fine collecting my cheque and being 3rd string LB"

Headlines are dumb, in no way has he said he would like to be used there, just that's his favourite role. I have no problem with keeping versatile players around.

Sure, when they're capable of being versatile. But Emanuelson simply isn't. Just think how he played for Fulham.
X-Offender
Whatever happened to him? Barely 8 minutes played with Roma so far, not even on the bench tomorrow. Not surprising, though, considering how bad he is. Good decision to let him go.
acid911
Good decision, indeed. sleep.gif A nothing player, really, good for rotation, just.
Fillipo Simone
He's been terrible for us, same probably with Roma. He should sing with a Dutch mid-table team, that's his best range.
X-Offender
The fact that Ajax let him go for free and he couldn't even cut it at Fulham really show what kind of a player he is.
